@@fly1ngpapaya Which is nothing but prejudice. In fact, the only thing that is known to cause issues is an unmaintained (!) Multi-Air unit in the US version. Regular oil changes with the right oil are absolutely crucial. However, the European version comes with an old-school T-Jet engine that is dead-on reliable. Still, regular oil changes are mandatory since the engine can run pretty hot in the summer. Other than that, there's only a small handful of regular issues (lower front suspension arm, door handles and wiring harness at the hinge of the rear hatch).

I remember reading the reviews of the VOlvo C30, seeing it at the new car show as well and wanting it, even thinking it was a bargain of a crafted machine campared to WRX or the copetitors at the time, and unique 5cyl. I think it may have been the only 3 door hatch in the U.S. besides VW. I'd see one around my neighborhood all the time in blue. I could not afford a 30k car at the time, but was also pretty happy with my 07 Si, but the C30 was the grown up tuner hatch. Shoot, I should find one now....sweet 5cyl

If you haven't driven a Volvo 5cyl you really should. I've owned a Stage 2 Wrx, an Acura Cl Type S, a Dodge Caliber SRT 🤮, and a Focus ST...as you can see I liked to jump between sporty cars. Well. I stumbled across a 5cyl S60 with overboost. (in sport mode it can pump its torque from 266 to 295 for about 10 sec). Its been two years and I still love my volvo. I once came across a stang and challenger racing on the highway and surprised them both so much the mustangs passenger whipped out his phone to record. It's stupid fun. Not that you'll have a very easy time finding one, but if you're going to go for a Mazda MX-6 you're better off going for a Probe GT. Arguably better looking car. Plus you have the utility of the hatchback. Definitely not overpowered cars but a very sweet V6 and the handling was sublime (well, for fwd!) And I can't believe you would put a Fiat Abarth above a Fiesta ST!? But if you drive these two cars back-to-back you will get the fiesta. Quicker, more room, more tunable, and far more reliable! And yes, the C30 is awesome!...but the secrets out. No longer 'cheap!'

@sigmaprojects
@sigmaprojects Жыл бұрын
@@speculative The batteries on those first gen last for a while, but really if you want it to feel like it should a fresh battery should be swapped in. I got one with I think an original battery that had 200K miles on it and after about a year threw an IMA code. I took apart the pack and swapped out cells that looked borked and then tried to rebalance them. Worked pretty well for another 2 or 3 years. When it started to show issues again I just bit the bullet and threw in a fresh pack and it felt completely different than an old "working" pack. So if it's just about saving cash then yea keeping the old pack running and just using it as a fuel sipper works, but if you start enjoying it for fun driving on a budget a new pack goes a long way. Especially if later you get the current hack installed to over boost the EV motor assist/regen.

@@WonkOfWonkyness Well in the US we never really got Opel, save for some stuff back in the 70's or 60's I think. So instead of bringing it over as a brand that no one really knows they started rebranding them as Saturns. Like the Opel Astra became the Saturn Astra in the US. Before they axed the Saturn brand they were planning on basically making it the Euro centric brand for the US by bringing over other Opels and rebranding them as Saturns. In Korea GM owns a bunch Daewoo, in Korea no one knows what a Saturn is and I don't think Opel has any presence in Korea so they branded it as Daewoo to be more recognizable. Same for Europe, no one will know what a Saturn is so it was branded as an Opel GT. The Saturn Sky/Pontiac Solstice were all manufactured in the US I believe and then rebranded when sent to other countries.

Might I add a refreshed Lincoln LS (2003->2006) with the 3.9L V-8. 85% of a BMW 5-series at a fraction of the price. And if you can find one with the THX sound system / navigation, all the better.

The xrs lines were fun but the c60 transmission was downfall. Definitely miss running b and k series with it though.

Honestly? Most people pass my daily up in a heart beat, but it's one of the most fun cars I've driven. I've got an 08 Eclipse GT. Yeaaaaaa it's front wheel drive, but I promise you, when you Gap most cars, the reaction is priceless. I got lucky and got mine from a friend for $2k. I've done nothing but put new wheels and tires on it and got a new exhaust. Sounds mean as hell and super snappy. 160 top speed and 263 hp stock, so most people just don't realize the power she puts out.

I LOVE my C30, but trust me, you ain't getting an R-Design (like most the ones shown in the video) for as cheap as this channel thinks. ESPECIALLY with the 6MT like I thankfully found.

I have owned 3 Miata MX5's, a MX-6, Ford Probe and Ford Taurus. The miats are very under powered but take well to mods. The Probe and Taurus came with V6's and surprised a lot of people. The cars you mention are not worth the look.

Looks wise, i love the saturn sky. I wish saturn would have stuck around and used more Honda engines. The Sky is crazy heavy, but if they would have put a J series in it, like they did with the Vue, I think it would have single handedly saved the company.

I agree with the volvo, the Infinity even know it’s appealing; they are soon to go bankrupt so parts may be an issue in near future. As for Leaf, sure it’s impressive torque on demand is great, but for a car that has been proven to dramatically lose range over years of ownership from battery depletion, is it really worth it when you only can travel like 70 miles after 5 years of it’s release!

You’re forgetting the Chevy Cobalt SS (LSJ and LNF) if you want a strong reliable engine that can hold 500hp on a stock block, the cobalt SS with the 2L LSJ motor is the one to buy. I currently own one and I have had no problem with the LSJ motor. I recently finished installing my ZZP entry level kit with a PCM update. 400hp on a stock block and power delivery is by far better since I swap from a supercharger to a turbo. But even a fully stock LSJ is fun to drive. But if you want more power, the LNF cobalt SS is a way to go.
