Great news on USD and Khmer Olympians

The USD banknote thing has been getting worse over the years. It's why I only withdraw Khmer Riel now. I doubt those banks were being charged more by US banks to exchange damaged notes. This means that given enough time banks here would have started charging for damaged local tender as well. Free markets aren't perfect. This is a rare example of some essential good government work. Most world governments get into all sorts of things and make things worse. The KISS method works!

Hey guys, IAndy from Detroit here. I moved into my new apartment in Taphul village on Monday. I went through IPS and got a low season short term ( 3 month ) lease for $300 a month. A giant bathtub I float in, washing machine with a big balcony facing the street to dry my clothes on, and a pool. It might be the nicest place I've ever lived in. After 4 days I'm calling to extend the lease. Thank you for your videos that I watched to help me decide to move here. I have a case of what I'm calling " Siem Reap Euphoria " I Love it here. If anyone else reads these comments and are thinking of moving here, you really should.

I go to the bank and change my dollars to riel as I am SICK TO DEATH of that scammy little dance so many do where they "cannot change" even a $10 bill (which is total bullshit) and send someone across the street to the local exchange granny then you get charged $1 for this stupidity. The "bad bills" BULLSHIT makes my blood boil too...99% of these bills have been circulating around the USA for YEARS, tears, writing or worn, or all 3. It's one of the most infuriating and ILLOGICAL things that takes place in SE Asia. Either sheer stupidity or a great little scam. The Imm guy at Laos border will turn your bill around and around until he makes a TINY tear and then reject it..."problem". Then he informs you you can pay in baht at an exchange rate that gives him $10 to pocket. It'll be a cold day in hell before I go to Laos again.

Actually we very rarely use cash of any kind. We pay everything via ABA. I can go months with no cash in my wallet. Everyone has ABA, transfers are instant, and the app is better than any we had in Australia.
