Amazing documentary. My great respect to the people of Cambodia 🇰🇭. Growing up in the 70's and watching that"Killing fields movie," I can't understand why it's happening in the mainland. We have refugees camp built in our islands in the Philippines. Not only from China/Vietnam but it's the whole ASEAN countries became a refugees. We had our own coup detat in 1989 at the same time we were accepting those that are being persecuted. During the Pandemic I met a Cambodian general who escaped the horror of the Khmer taking the boats to our islands then to the USA. He had a hard time breathing but believe it or not me and him were watching when Putin invaded Ukraine. His recollections of his past and me worried about my own kid being in the Frontline of Nato's border. There's no winner in any war. I'm glad and happy that there's peace and unity among your people in Cambodia. We all have the same roots. If we go back centuries ago before the coloneal times we ourselves have our own Datu/Sultan/Rajahs in every islands. They have no castle like Ankor wat but we can't deny the fact that they did exist and written in the history of those who found us. The dance, costumes and songs still being observed especially in Mindanao Island. Hope someday I can visit your beautiful country. Watching at your faces so close and similar to my own brothers and sisters.

Detailed documentary and interviews. Unfortunately, I too have lived through the dark era of Khmer Rouge and witnessed the horror of human suffering, starvation, slaughter and loss dignity. It’s almost miracle that about half of the Khmer population survived the Khmer Rouge killing fields at all. 😢

The history of the Cambodia & Monarchy like much of Asia is interwined thats why you cant tell the story of the nation without them. Cambodia in last 10 years has transformed economically and still a major SE Asia tourist destination. The Khmer people like all of SE Asia are on the whole friendly and welcoming of tourists, especially those that take time to explore and not just the cities or well known tourist places.

What happened in the past is the past. What is happening in the present is what we should be focusing on. What happens in the future is something could and will be changing. Hate the past but don't hate the present. Cambodia in the present day is much better than 30 years ago and is definitely a great place to visit and an amazing location of tourism. Don't believe people that never been back to Cambodia. Go and see for yourself before you deciding on the outcome. And yes, the current government is basically an authoritarian communist style government. But the country is very much a democratic country. It is just because the ruler communist, it doesn't make the country a communist.

It’s not the tourists the syndicate targets but job seekers. They get you in legally and even go through the whole recruitment process to appear legitimate but once you’re in the country, you’re under their control. They’ve duped even professionals and basically forced their hostages to work as scammers in what is called “slaughter the pig”. The hostages are tortured when they don’t comply by their handlers. The lure is typically jobs in business development for cryptocurrency canvassing. It is well known that the heads of these syndicates were former PRC criminals who took up citizenship in Cambodia and made high level connections. One of these men is associated with the highest seat in Cambodian government. That is why nothing is being done to shut them down. They’ve gone on to targeting Indian nationals beyond the South East Asian countries. The syndicate has its tentacles in Laos and Vietnam too so never ever think of taking any job offers from any of these three countries. The thugs are most,y PRCs aided by nationals from the countries of the job scam victims and these are everywhere even in Malaysia and Singapore.

Khmer people should not have forgotten our ancient kings who built this temple. We, the Khmer people need to pay respect to our ancient Kings and be dedicated to the memory of our kings who built this temple for Hindus. Originality, it was built for Hindus and we need to respect our past glory for our beloved Kings. Our greatest Kings of all time died for us and fought throughout his death. The four sides are the face of our Kings. Our current king is allied with the dictator and he doesn't care about any of us who want justice and international law when it comes to wrong-doing. It was one-sided decision making which is not a great idea in economics.

I know that king Sihanouk had some flaws but it’s not as bad as the prime minister. the way he treated Cambodian people, the way he keeps threatening people who are against his ideologies etc. our kings were symbolic and highly respected but Now, the current king doesn’t even have power anymore, and Cambodia is already losing its identity because the prime minister family is overtaking the country. Khmer people know this too. we are scared of the future of our country. Especially with the CLV issues and Chinese infestation. I hope the next generation Khmer people can overcome this greedy communist government.

I married a Cambodian refugee in 1977 and learned to speak the language and a whole lot about the culture. Speaking to the refugees who came over at that time, what they went thru to survive seared my memory and my heart. The country itself is really not tourist material even now. I would suggest staying away, as it is still very much Communist! The people are lovely, however.

There's no influence of Thai culture in Cambodia. It's quite the opposite. Angkor wat the amazing temples of Cambodia has been replicated by the Thais. For some reason, Thai always wanna steal this particular temple from Cambodia. Along with the culture and the carvings on the temple like Apsaras and other traditional clothes that the Thais copied from Angkorian style .

@@Official_Royalworld you should know that Thailand only has Khmer heritage in their country. Ancient stone temples in Thailand like hin phimai and phnom rung are all khmer temples. Thai clothes nowadays is also derived from Khmer. Cambodia is way older then Thailand becuase we have existed since the Fuanan period which is in the 1st century and Thailand were only immigrants from yunan china and existed in 13th century and thanks to the Khmer Empire, we provided them land and culture but now they have betrayed us.
