It would be great to see a new video about your gear now that you've completed the PCT. Which items worked great for you and which ones didn't? Did you swap out or get rid of anything along the way or did you add anything while on the trail?

Great video! I tried out your Hoka creepers socks combo on the last few hikes of the season here in Washington. Thank you for the great info. I highly recommend both.

nice! just in case you wanted some advice: I'd bring a light rain jacket, like the very cheap frogg toggs, 150g; it's also a windbreaker. the alpha fleece is warm but has those holes, so need one. Also it's a crucial piece of safety equipment in higher mountains, one should never get cold and wet. As for the down jacket there are lighter alternatives, like the -5°C wonderful declathlon forclaz trek 100 at 280 gramm and below 100$. And with the rain jacket on top, you can survive extreme situations and the down won't get wet and keep the insulating power. Also I guess you'll ditch the huge tripod soon and get an UL tiny one🙂 Maybe also think about an UL sun hoody? I wish you a wonderful and save trail with lot of great adventures 🙂

Ive been following you on your PCT hike and it has further inspired me to really plan out a hike on the AT since I just moved to the Appalachians. I am watching this to get my mind wrapped around a solid packing list. I can’t wait to do some amazing hiking and maybe one day hit the PCT

oh yes, one other question regarding the X-Mid Pro 1. I note there is no mention of a groundsheet/footprint of any sort. Given the thinness of the tent, I can't imagine not using at least a very lightweight groundsheet of some sort. I noticed in one of your other videos showing setting up and taking down your sleep system there was a groundsheet. But for the PCT ????

I'm curious about food storage which wasn't mentioned in this gear video. I know you had to grab a bear cannister entering the Sierras, but what about before that and after that? I really enjoyed your daily vlogs.

I'm curious as to how many times or how often you had to backflush the Sawyer Squeeze? Love your full PCT hike.
@CamBostock2 ай бұрын
I back-flushed every couple of weeks. I probably should have done it more because I think I let it build up too much dirt and it damaged it.

Just an FYI, some of your links on your gear list don't work/ they are sold out. Wanted to let you know so you are properly compensated. Cheers mate & love your documenting! Reminiscing on my AT Thruhike back in 2018.

What’s your quilt brand and temp. Based on your recent video it looked like an enlighten equipment but I’m not sure. Did you go with the 20 or 30 degree quilt (I’m assuming because those are the most popular)?

With the wall charger you'll be bringing along, dont fopgret the US uses a different plug, so you'll need an adaptor for that head. Looking forward to following you along in the jorney!

You are going to get sun burnt or will have to keep applying sunscreen. You should hike in a long sleeve top. It's actually cooler than having bare skin. There is no shade on 100s of miles of the PCT.

Obviously great you will be so light but it’s bad advice to say a garbage bag has the same waterproofing quality as a dry sack. In a lot of environments a wet sleeping bag is very dangerous.
@MrDuncanspry8 ай бұрын
Garbage bag is fine for the pct. Trail is pretty dry.
@CamBostock8 ай бұрын
This video isn’t giving advice, I’m sharing my gear! Take from it what you will. A garbage bag will do a fine job in all but extreme rain which is very rare on the PCT.

The USA (where I live) is in the Stone Age on that front. Also, on Lighterpack just click the weight (eg grams) symbol with the down arrow and choose ounces or pounds to convert the whole list. Very handy.
