It's interesting to see different uni traditions in different countries. So you just clap at the end of a lecture series? Here in Germany it's common to knock on the table (instead of clapping) at the end of each lecture.

I think that, whichever college you attend, you will find a group of friends with whom you can get on well. And in your second and third years you can arrange to have rooms on the same staircase/floor. These days with Social media etc, you will be able to keep in touch on the years ahead ... Friends for life!

Hey! Not going to have time to make a video on it, but all I do is make a list of all the sub-topics within modules that I need to revise, and then divide it all up evenly between the number of days I have before exams! I like to alternate between subjects/modules between days so I don’t just focus on one module and forget the others, and I try to schedule in revision of my weakest areas first. I just make it on an excel spreadsheet, dividing each day into hour long slots and I like to colour code it by subject as well. Scheduling in breaks is as important as scheduling in study periods because it means you don’t feel guilty when you’re not revising and ensures you don’t burn out. I aim to study for 8 hours a day in the lead up to exams, so that will usually be 3 hours in the morning, 3 hours in the afternoon and 2 hours in the evening :)

Apparently students taking other subjects here clap after every lecture, I think it varies! For natural sciences at least, one long applause at the end of the lecture course is all the lecturer gets 😂

Out of curiosity, what do you think the GCSE grades should look like for applying for Cambridge? I know there isn’t a specific minimum on the website but do you have any idea roughly what they should look like? Question from a year 11 hoping to do well in exams so they can get into Cambridge to study Law.

They are looking for GCSE grades of mostly 7s, 8s and 9s, but they take a holistic approach to admissions and will not focus solely on any one part of your application. For example, weaker GCSEs could be balanced out by a strong admissions assessment or interview performance, or vice versa. The performance of your school is also taken into account - if you have slightly lower grades but your school is low-performing overall, they will not let this disadvantage your application. Hope this all makes sense, and best of luck for exams!
