Level 42 - Mark King - Bass lesson - Pursuit Of Accidents Part 1/4

I got a request for this from Mark Owens who told me about his situation. I was very moved by his passion for music, life and especially this song. I decided to get on it straight away. I've always loved this track but had never played it until now. I haven't had time to work it out precisely but it's pretty damn near correct. (I think!!)

Good video and a wonderful, meaningful track! Unfortunately the same would likely not be said by many, about the namesake album for which ‘the pursuit of accidents’ is part of (unless your into ‘ball-clamping’ falsetto or ballon rubber tenor).

I've been quite meticulously following your videos for a couple of months - I'm getting much better but I *cannot* just thumb a string without hitting the adjacent string (lower note) so I have to use muting techniques with my left hand which aren't always practical. I'm progressing well apart from this. As an aside - a lot of teachers say the movement comes from the wrist - it doesn't. It's from the elbow - specifically the supination/pronation of the forearm where the radius 'twists' around the ulna (not flexion/extension).The wrist joint itself does not move and certainly the shoulder should be fixed as well. I like your laconic style and your way better than the dude with the glove and that bloody bloke who bangs on and on and on - yep it's talking bass I think - just realised how apt the name is.
