The CCM is truly a phenomenal design for the British Isles. However, more importantly it is the genius and deep spirituality of the Nobel Shaykh Abdul Hakim Murad that propelled this project from the outset.

This is beautiful as it is but I wish the architects knew about further beautifying the timber tree structure by augumenting it with "Chinyoti wood work". Chinyot is a town in Pakistan very famous for its artisans who excel is beautiful wood work for centuries. Currently the timber wood work doesn't look like a finished product but gives a feeling that construction is still in progress.

Spectacular building. The “trees “ do have a subtle English feel to them and provide a wonderful synthesis with the Islamic elements. The young woman is right. It positively oozes tranquility. So well done.

Fun fact! All living things do zikr, as in they call out Allah's name, this includes plants as well. So the fact they used wood and plants in the mosque (which are living things) would mean the mosque itself is doing zikr as well. SubhanAllah!

This masjid has clearly been built by people with high ambition and vision, who have successfully combined eastern and western traditions (and why not.. Islam accepts everyone), while remaining sensitive to local norms and expectations. It may have cost a lot of money, but it's a one-of-a-kind and makes a gentle statement that Islam is a part of Britain and is here to stay, so let's all get along; so on that basis it seems to been money well spent.
@rally73583 жыл бұрын
This secular masjid is a sign of decadence and opulence. Umar (ra) refused to have nice Kiswah made for the Qa'bah and made it his priority to feed the Muslims. In our day and age, spending £23 million to build a masjid for 1000 worshippers is seen as an achievement by shallow thinking Muslims, at a time when people are dying of hunger in the Muslim world.
@YoRoman3 жыл бұрын
@@rally7358 No doubt opinions of fallible human beings are prone to being incorrect. Money is relative though; a £100,000 masjid can still be seen as an extravagance compared to a mud hut masjid. Nobody can really quantify the value of things like making a statement masjid in what is traditionally Christendom to assert that Islam is a fabric of this society too, especially in the current era of heightened Islamophobia. However, I agree with the spirit of your comment and am happy to be corrected by a deep thinker, if indeed I am a shallow thinker, which I very well could be. 😃 No offense has been taken. JazaakAllahu khayran, and I say that sincerely.
@veli14953 жыл бұрын
@@rally7358 u should consider the external benefits that can be achieved such as electricity savings and water use reduction. The idea that this mosques serves the circularity of resources is an environmental benefit that Allah is definitely pleased with. I don't see any extraordinary nnecessary decorations over there.

*On what criteria should we judge the value of a masjid? Is it how beautiful and modern its architecture is? Or should it be judged on whether it is doing its job in preserving Islamic values of the Muslims in Cambridge? Is it fulfilling its duty of Enjoining Good and Forbidding Evil?* *The bill to build this modern mosque was £23 million. And it can cater for 1000 people only. So this mosque cost £23,000 for every worshipper! What a waste of funds. When Muslims are dying of hunger in other parts of the world, like Yemen.* *Morality: Secular Britain has reduced the value of a masjid to being judged as bricks and mortar and how beautiful it looks. And gullible Muslims are happy with this sad state of affairs.*
@afud10153 жыл бұрын
Look at its positivity, wouldnt it be better to have good muslims and an amazing mosque. This could also be used for dawah because a lot of people (non-muslim) are attracted to this mosque and dispel the false negativities about "Islam and violence" that it is indeed a beautiful religion
@introspectivex83462 жыл бұрын
If all muslims had your mentality, we’d never have built beautiful mosques in the first place 🤦🏻♂️ millions in charity are donated to causes around the world. There will always be such causes to donate to. You won’t eradicate geo-political issues that are caused due to foreign-policies, greed and sectarian warfare by just throwing money at it. These issues existed amongst muslims caliphates too - so since we cannot eradicate such issues by mere money, it means we can donate to other causes too. Where do you find mosques like this in the UK? Mosques in the UK are more quantity than quality. Stop with your negativity smeared with self-righteousness. And secular britain never did that - by your logic it’s been done since the time of ibn abdul ‘aziz. Creating beautiful mosques with amazing design is a part of muslim legacy. In fact it is YOU who wishes to make it simply bricks and mortar, nothing more. And you want the mosque to enjoin good and forbid evil? It already does that. Or do you want it to enjoin *Specific* evils that YOU want to see forbidden rather than the way they want to do it? Don’t use objective language to promote your own subjective agenda please. Please don’t try to bring Marfu’ and Mawquf and debatable hadith/statements about mosque decoration which are pretty much all khabar wahid or ahaad. You won’t get far with Hadith based on conjecture as you cannot force one method with such speculative statements (as determined by the majority in Usul al-Fiqh).
