Robert Anthony De Niro is an American actor, producer, and director. He is particularly known for his nine collaborations with filmmaker Martin Scorsese, and is the recipient of various accolades, including two Academy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, the Cecil B. DeMille Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award. In 2009, De Niro received the Kennedy Center Honor, and received a Presidential Medal of Freedom from U.S. President Barack Obama in 2016.

For me, Heat is one of my favourites films of all time. A true legend, how lucky for those there to be in his presence.

Robert De Niro for me is the greatest screen actor of all time. His versatility is unmatched and how he can get in and out of character is something to behold. He's a genius at his craft. He really is.

@@clivet3252 To each his own I guess. But to humour your point. Pacino is also a great actor. One fo the greats toot. But at some point he was playing himself as a character as opposed to being in character. His character in Scent Of A Woman is the same as his character in Devil's Advocate & Any Given Sunday. And lets not forget the Pacino monologues we got through-out the 1990s drove that home. Not to take anything away. He's an outstanding actor. Very charismatic & engaging on screen and really fun to watch too. But Robert Deniro for me is the benchmark. He can play characters. His Meet The Parents character is nothing like his Analyze This character. His Casino character is nothing like his Cape Fear character. For me Pacino ended being like Leonardo Di Caprio and Denzel Washington. Guys who put themselves in the role. ("Denzel as...." as opposed to "Denzel is..." I hope that makes sense) De Niro has this chameleon like ability to hide himself in his roles. His ability to switch from comedy to drama is also something to note.

Tarantino once called DeNiro the greatest movie maker of all time, on the basis his collaborations and output was unsurpassed by any director or actor, and I think that’s right. Godfather 2, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Deerhunter, Casino, Jacknife, Ronin, Mean Streets, 1900, Once Upon a Time in America, The Irishman, Taxi Driver, King of Comedy, The Mission- bloody hell it goes on and on. De Niro is the greatest actor this world has ever seen in my opinion, but this interview really showcases the disconnect between how unbelievably focused he is as an actor, yet how awkward and speechless he is when it comes to talking about his craft. He doesn't really answer one single question here in a coherent and fluid way. At first, I thought he was just dodging the questions, but after a while I realized that he really doesn't know what to say. It almost explains why he's such a brilliant actor as its the only avenue he has to express his emotions and feelings.

There will be blood, my left foot, phantom thread, and gangs of New York are just some amazing performeances. Deniro though changed the game in the 70s and 80s. And Brando is my favorite out the 50s and 60s I think Brando had a little more talent especially in delivering Monolougues, but I think deniro had a lil more range. Day Lewis would be most talented all time for sure though

This unassuming man was the face of new Hollywood, pioneering that laid the groundwork for the great cinema/TV we've seen in the last 50 years (1970-1980 was something special). Altman, Lumet, Scorsese, Nicholson, Polanski, Cazale, Dunnaway and with Kubrick still at his perpetual peak. King of Comedy one of the funniest films ever made, but overshadowed by his more famous gangster turns.

Such a brilliant actor! Watching midnight run over again a few times. Such a great storyline mixed with striking Jack Walsh's conscious by Charles Grodin. The emotional family get-together and the finishing off, and the unexpected release really grips you as the best comedy and friendship movies ever. I knew a friend of his family who reported that his school teachers described him as 'personality deprived' or something of the sort....he always observed an repeated the gestures of others. @@MemoryLaneCinema 25 years? So, since 1997? Well, there's Wag the Dog, Jackie Brown, Ronin, Analyze This, Meet the Parents, Silver Linings Playbook, Joker and The Irishman. Now, I get what you're saying because there IS a lot of crap in there aside from the films I just mentioned but when De Niro is on his game, he is the best at what he does. It just looks like everything he's done is crap because he's so prolific and sometimes the really good stuff gets lost in the mix.

I always find that the King of Comedy is a film often overlooked, and dare I say not one that springs to mind for those not completely familiar with his work, yet Rupert Pupkin is one if his most incredible roles, and made at a time when he was not known for playing this type of character, an absolute classic and up there with his very best.

Sad Bob's hearing is going, but that's inevitable with age. He doesn't say much because he comes from an era when actors let the acting speak for itself. You don't need to be super articulate or show off if the work speaks for itself.

What an incredible video and some great questions. I would love to meet Robert. What I do find comical is the gentleman asking 'what do you think about what is going on in Ukraine and do you think the US is doing enough?' What good is an actor's opinion on this issue which is clearly always going to be 'yes it is bad etc...' Ask questions which are relevant to the person in question.

@@Hritik9000 believe me the Godfather and the Exorcist were the original blockbusters, I know I was there, then came Towering Inferno, Jaws then later Star Wars, unless movie's were massive world successes they were viewed unsuccessful, changed the face of making films, now its Marvel films

@@roberthayes9842 The Godfather and The Exorcist were the highest grossing films of thier respective year but it was really Jaws because everyone thought it was gonna be a flop but it was completely housefull. Star Wars elevated what Jaws did because both were pure entertainment films. But it must have seen so cool to be around that time and watching these directors and actors make classics one after the other.

A year b4 those was The Last Picture Show. Don't remember, as a young adult, until I walked up 2 a storefront, suburban theater and there's a long line. That was from word of mouth about a bestseller novel. Sign o' the Times.
