Love love love CAMEL! Hardly anyone mentions them. I think all Pink Floyd fans would love their catalogue.

Camel is (why ??) the all time most underrated band in prog rock history ☹️☹️😡😡 Lady Fantasy is probably the most amazing song ever written

Mirage, The Snow Goose and Moonmadness are all must-haves!

I would also add “A live record” The best songs from the albums you mentioned are played.

Thanks. I’ve never seen this before. I couldn’t imagine a television program today that would broadcast such a performance. No lyrics?! A woodwind quartet?! All live, no playback?! How long?! Thank you Old Grey Whistle Test.

One of the sounds of my teens. Happy memories.

Yea! The old grey whistle test. Best TV music programme ever. Discovered so many new bands through that programme in my youth. Andrew Latimer is still emoting those great guitar solos today with the latest version of Camel. If you were to get just one album I would probably plump for Moonmadness.

Great footage. Camel made some awesome music throughout the 1970s.

At some point you should definitely sit and listen to the entirety of the original Snow Goose studio album. Definitely one of the greatest pieces of music ever written.

I met Peter Barden at the L.A.'s 1993 Progfest. He just came from Keith Emerson's place and told us about his wrist issues. And Keith had to sell some of his keyboards to pay for his Carpel Tunnel operation.

Dean, I suggested you maybe buy Moonmadness earlier as a vinyl pick but if you bought the big screen you spoke about some while ago then it’s worth investing in the bluray of their fairly recent live show at the Royal Albert Hall (2018) in which they reprised the entire Moonmadness album as well as a host of other major songs across their whole catalogue. I thoroughly recommend it, it was a great show and proves that Andrew Latimer can still do it at 69 (as he was then).

I just got their boxset yesterday. Theres 2 blurays come with it also. One is in 5.1 and they other one is videos etc. I'll be spending a lot of time listening to the music.

Hi Dean, listen next to “a live record”, where they play the whole Snow goose with an orchestra too. Btw for vinyls recommendations, I’d say A live record is a must. Super high quality sound and superb performance. The snow goose is played while and it sounds better than the studio version imo. Then, for studio albums, try Moonmadness & Raindances

It's a shame Andy's Fender had gone out of tune slightly under the studio lights for the last section. This is a brilliant medley from the best album ever recorded. Andy Latimer is still the best guitar player I've ever seen, and I've got tickets to their 2023 tour to celebrate 50 years of Camel.

Camel es un grupo genial, tienen al menos 20 temas de excelente nivel, a lo largo de toda su carrera, no sólo en los 70's. Su guitarrista, Andrew Latimer, extrae los sonidos más dulces y melodiosos del rock progresivo. Recomiendo escuchar, entre muchísimos otros, Watching the Bobbins, Stationary Traveller, Song Within a Song, Ice, Rajaz, Long Goodbye, etc, etc, etc.
