Junk Journal Ideas Book - Easy Journal Cover 😊

All my links in one place linktr.ee/came... Today i'm making a new Junk Journal Ideas Book that would also make a very easy Junk Journal Cover.
I'll be showing you step by step how I make the junk journal ideas book from an old book cover.
Also, how to make the signature cover pages or anchor pages, using 12 x 12 scrapbook paper.
Each anchor page has 2 pockets and and a built in tab to make navigationg the book easy.
This would be ideal to use as the cover for any junk journal.
There is no sewing involved and it's quick and easy to put together.

Had to stop the video and comment. I never really thought of not covering the book but im glad you put that thought into my head. I am a book lover, and as such i just can’t give my books away (even though i find it too difficult to read them now, thank heaven for kindle books with audio so i can craft and listen) but i will seriously think of making an ideas book for myself using my most favourite book giving it a second life with me. Next time poke your holes at the top and bottom in the spine cover up, then thread elastic cord through and tie in the back of the spine cover up. That way there are no cords showing on the outside of your book. This was demonstrated by 'The Post Paper Lady'. This way you can remove your signatures as you have done. Just an idea. Love your idea of using a hardback book covers for an idea journal. I think I'll make one. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Lady :) I really need to make one of these. Always intend to, never do then forget all my little makes! Ive got one of those little finger blades, they are quite good, stable...well, I slice less random things up with it anyhow! Oh, I picked up some of that elmers glue stick you use, love it! Very goopy, but really nice glue! It looks like my tesa glue sticks are going into retirement!

I find these the quickest type to make and I now have three😊 Think I bought a dodgy brand of ginger blade. Turn your heating down, the Elmer's is s little gloopy when it's hot😘🤗💜

Loved watching this, but didn't think I could make one (I dont have any ideas, just copy others!) till you said at the end it could be an ephemera folder - which is exactly what I need for storing all the bits I make but don't want to stick somewhere straight away! Thanks Elissa😊 You'll find your own ideas come even when you feel you're just copying. Nothing wrong with that anyway, it's a great way to learn. I started by following tutorials and copying what I saw others do. Then as you go along you find yourself tweaking this and that until it looks nothing like the thing you thought you were copying😅 Before you know it you'll have the confidence to try your own ideas and amaze yourself. LMAO I bought one of those cutters because a lady I was watching used hers and made it look as easy as pointing your finger and tracing the line and I am always awkward with it! :D You'll get it eventually though it may always feel like an alien instrument! I adore the idea of a journal ideas book. I've started making rolodex cards for myself of combinations of things I used to make friends gifts and stuff, but I never thought to also brainstorm out the ideas I have and put them on more than a sticky note stuck in a journal! Have to say I'm not loving it so far😐 I forget how to hold it constantly and the blade is so small I can hardly see it😅 I'm going to be using a trick that my daughter's art teacher uses, which is to write my notes for where to find projects, sizes and techniques etc. on transparency film and clip it over the pages. I'm one of those people that has always aspired to be super organised, but has never quite pulled it off. Maybe this year😅 Hope you have a wonderful new year Cheryl😁😊💜🥂🎉

If you want to seal the knots on elastic, use the Clear Nail Varnish from the Poundshop. My knots never come apart.

First tutorial I've seen with the elastic versus sewing in pages. Thanks for this! I tried to make an idea book but ended up hating the format. Right now I just make things in multiples and keep one aside for myself.

Yes I don't like all the pages and ephemera to be fixed in my idea book so I can alter them anyway I like. These will also double up as somewhere to keep my ready made stuff close to hand so I don't stash them in boxes and forget about them, which I am very good at doing😅🤗💜

Hi Julie, I am using The Botanist's sticker anthology book. I really like the cover and have been looking for ideas for it. I am not as brave as you. I did not gut the book but turned the pages into pockets. I removed some problem pages out. I do have a craft knife like yours but never know how to place it on my finger. lol Happy New Year. Laura

HI Julie, I had to think about the pretty green pages but the outside nothing wants to stick to.. lol so I double stick Glue tape (green page to green page.) used double stick to close top and bottom. The outside edge added a 3 1/2 circle punch for a tab. I am just using mailing envelopes one for each pocket. When I jot down notes I gather and put in one...Who knows maybe I will do something else later....but it was very easy and no sharp objects needed...lol and fun watching you😀

Hi Julie, it's Rachel, we bump in to each other now and again on different utube channels lol 😆, I've just watched your wonderful tutorial on this ideas book, which I think is fantastic, I'm hoping you can help me out, you used your cropodile to make the holes and put the brass things in, I get confused on the size of gage to use on different holes, so I now know its A 2 on the bigger holes to attached the things but what size on the smaller holes, I'm a bit of a dim wit sometimes, if you could help that would be great, love your tutorials, you always cheer me up xxxx

Love this idea! 🤗 Thanks for all the details. I have a smaller old book I bought at a used bookshop, I think it might be a nice size to try for my first one. Keep your fingers crossed that I can do it! I bought that same swivel craft knife years ago and just opened it. I didn’t mean to get the swivel kind…they make one that doesn’t swivel, but this one is made to go around curves. Takes a bit of practice. I can’t decide if I like it. Curious if you will continue to use it?

Fiskars has a similar type finger knife with a standard exacto blade that I really like, I'm not comfortable using a regular exact blade and feel I have better control with finger blade

hi Marileee😊 i'm guessing you might have figured it out by now😘 To be honest every one i make is different and it depends on how thick the signature gets as i decorate pages. i love this style as it allows you to add or take away pages as needed. hope you've been having fun making yours 🤗💜
