For those wondering: no, the cactus doesn't hurt the camel. These animals have oral papillae in their mouths, which are made of keratin; those little things look like spikes, and are very hard. That evolutionary advantage allows camels to eat cactus and stuff without hurting themselves, and if you search for a picture of their mouths inside, it looks like the Sarlacc pit from Star Wars.

Their mouth is designed specifically to eat a cactus, even with long spines like this one has. Because when you live in an area with very little plants and water, and the only good plants to eat with lots of water have spikes all over them, what do you do? Do you just die of thirst and go extinct or does your species evolve to eat the cactus? It may look painful to us, but if that camel really hated it, he would spit them out and not keep going after more. He is well fed and healthy weight, so its not like they are starved and forced to eat them, and even so... I dont think you can force a camel to do anything.
