Hello!!! I am from France and my grandfather gifted the same Exakta film camera as in your video 2 years ago; i tried using it once but the roll of film was black when i got it back haha! Just now understood with the help of you video that i used the knob on the left a whole different way… Thanks for this great video that helped me learn about this camera :))

The way to say Ihagee is Ee-ha-gay, and Jena is pronounced Yay-nah. I have owned and used Exakta cameras for fifty-eight years!

Don't turn left shutter knob in wrong way. Only in the direction of the arrow, otherwise you will damage the mechanism.

@@bunadud Interesting idea. Basically on the wall they are simple angle brackets. Those on stands are a steel plate with a 1/4x20 threaded rods cut to the height I wanted.

Ether way looks really cool on the wall. I have mine on the bookshelf and looked cool while was half empty but now one on top of the other. Running out of the space

I inherited a similar Exakta from my grandfather who bought it new around 1960. The camera is great except It needs a new shutter since there are holes in the original. I haven’t been able to fine anyone willing to do the CLR and shutter replacement. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks

Go to a large camera store that does repairs - like Tempe Camera in Phoenix.

Hi! Exakta noobie here! I recently acquired this exact model, but I had to buy another lens for it and managed to grab this exact lens! The only problem is that it doesn’t couple with the shutter button and I’d have to click it with my fingers still. It latches but is still loose on the body. Do you have any tips for me?

@@MrKayFisher Some times there is a screw that you can move the button down where can be in contact with shutter button try and look for it

How do we know the film is correctly loaded onto the take up spool? Modern SLR can see the direction of the rewind knob turning...how about VX?

Perhaps the winder feels like it is pulling film. But your point is right. This is not a modern SLR.

@@MrKayFisher found out that mine is ver 4.1, there is a small window at the edge of the slow speed dial, the red lines/cross will turn when advancing the film.

Turn out the rewind crank and the rewind knob will rotate when you advance the film. So you can be sure that the film is correctly loaded; then fold again the rewind crank in his place
