So, Xperias are doing less compression to give higher quality (and this is why they heat up), which probably no other phone does. This is why Xperias are best for videos. This kind of technical information is what no other reviewers do. This is very interesting information.

Dearest, You are the top Xperia tester in regards of proving the paper numbers on real life. But please help my testing by an answer for Xperia 1mk4 and mk5 in comparison for you having both. For this 64.1.A.0.891/913 mk4's latest firmware upgrade. 1. The slow shutter speed in lowlight 1s manual at 64-200 ISO manual, in the pictures appeare burned/coloured chaotic pixels that ruins the image overall (telephoto is the worst!).This is still happening for you? 2. The low light videos are very dark and its flash is better/stronger on photo than as video torch. Is this issue for your devices mk4 and mk5? Can you recoomend a specific setting/app to have more light (HDR is not helping)? 3. Front cam missing manual and bokeh big time for its wanna-be and how would you get a front selfie bokeh in the mk4 and mk5 compared to you? 4. Even Xperia now have amazing screen brightness after getting warmer the brighness dims and then the OLED have ghosting on mk4 this is on mk5 also? So can you please make a video with these comparisons tests for the latest firmware upgrades and give some good advices? More even, to send these issues to the software engineers, for that Xperia 1 mk4 to have a chance to its wanna-be? Some people as I know in my country are very dissapointed by this fact and Sont don't even answer to their e-mails with these issues still unsolved. Thank you so much for helping! PS: Crapsung is doing crap for Xperia also, Sony should have known that before and test its wanna-be's!

The most interesting thing about this video is the difference between the 13 ulta and the vivo since both records at the same bit rate. Thank you so much for this review. This is so eye-opening because most of the tech reviewers were shitting hard on Sony. Seeing how extremely well the Sony 1V performed & even how well the 1 IV did in comparison to what other KZbin reviewers said about it, I'm extremely impressed by Sony. I'm now even more convinced to buy the Sony Xperia 5V because it has the main lens of the 1V. I don't care so much about the zoom lens since it's not its best quality of lens anyways & the screen is 1080p instead of the 4K the 1V has, which consumes more battery & will make the phone hotter. I hope in the future Sony makes a 5VI or 5VII with LTPO, 256GB, Telephoto, maybe a 2K screen even though it's not a deal breaker if it doesn't because 1080p is good & it'll mean less heat & longer battery life

This is the big one for those of us who actually work with these things! I've sometimes struggled with frame rate drop while doing in car video in summer heat, and it isn't always practical to shove a phone cooler on when you're mounting to the windshield. Suxks to need to switch back to am older pre 8 Gen 1 phone for work like that. I actually carry two phone cameras when covering events just to avoid down time. Yeah, at that point, some people would just go phone plus camera, but two (or three) phones are still more pocketable than a phone & camera combo.

The bit rate issue is complicated. A high bit rate can be just because they want better quality, or they could in fact be saving power and skipping some of the encoding steps. Canon cameras used to record at very high bit rate because they didn't have the CPU power to do the compression.
@jakedailey1054
@jakedailey1054 Жыл бұрын

Yes. By design. I can't account for every phone being handled in EXACTLY the same way. Even building a ridiculous rig to mount all six at the same time, phones on the outside of that rig would be handled differently than phones on the inside of that rig. Basically, anything you do beyond my setup here will additionally tax each phone and likely reduce overall recording time.
@magicshon
@magicshon Жыл бұрын
@@SomeGadgetGuy Always good to find a base line. This makes me wonder about the bit rate too. Do phones use variable bit rate? Would love to have 4k 120fps on my xiaomi 13 pro, its funny how 8k was a thing with snapdragon 865 which in fact didnt do real 8k it was 6k upscaled and yet on newest phones its capped at 8k 24-30fps at most. Either give use 4k 120fps or 6k60fps would be great stepup :) Sony is doing wonders here.

What's the bitrate of 4k120?
@DorianLust
@DorianLust Жыл бұрын
8:46 Are you sure higher bitrate means more processing? RAW data isn't compressed and produces a big file. It's all about the compression settings. More processing can produce better quality and smaller size. So I don't think bitrate means much if the quality isn't set to an equal setting.

Hi Juan, I don't really understand how the Sony is recording double the data for the same resolution and frame rate. Does that mean there is more information being recorded on the Sony, somehow? Or is it something to do with the files being less compressed? I always thought you had a certain number of pixels at a certain rate, and that's your data - but obviously there's a lot more to it.

Video is just like any other media. You can take the raw data off a CD or make an MP3. You can take the full camera sensor data or make a jpg. As soon as you make a smaller "package", you can adjust how much info you're saving.

Motorola fan here, does the sony's have a desktop mode? I think that might help. I just order the Edge+ 2023. I hope the Ready For (RD4) help me ditch the laptop for spread sheets and word processor. But I intended to use as a on budget astrophotography with a ported GCam and I hope the Moto would be able to handel that. This video will be help full when that time comes.

Now that the Pro-I is $999 with the vlogging kit, is that a competitive option because of the larger sensor, or is the new sensor here better because of the dual layer design? I pre-ordered the 1 V but saw the Pro-I at Best Buy for 999. It's a gorgeous looking phone that looks very professional.

Well, I totally liked this video comparison especially compared to last year with Xperia 1 IV overheating on its own I do wonder and you made some valid points why do we need such a high bitrate of 120 or 150mbps...I am not even sure we can see the difference...I don't see an advantage in Xperia videos in quality with double the bitrate either... It a a pity we cannot choose the bitrate in camera and video pro app. I am almost sure that would help with Xperia 1 IV overheating since even in 4k@60 I still dont manage to get over 5-10 mn without overheating. Also lesser bitrate might allow Sony to have other functions working while recording....

When posting videos into any social media sites, there would always practically be some compression in those videos. KZbin happens to have less compression compared to some other social media sites, but there's still some quality loss overall from the raw footage. The higher bit rate of Xperia assures that it would retain more of the original quality even when heavily compressed, whereas the others would've already looked unusable in the same situation. Try watching in 144p, perhaps the difference will be significantly more pronounced.

Wonder how big the contribution of the Cam Sensor is to the heat development. Xperia I IV and V have the smallest Sensors in this comparison i think. Also the most heat was generated close to the cam Sensor. Imteresting would be a Xperia Pro I. Big Sensor that was not developed for small Phones and the slim Xperia cases together should be a lot of heat ^^

Looking more and more to Juan video, i'm more convinced that many other big subs "tech reviewer" might just be an average consumer with editing teams, just lending his/her voice in sales pitch oriented video because of paid parnership or affiliated link😂. in my opinion Tech reviewer should be having unbiassed statement backed with factual data and neutral, cause we trust reviewer opinion as neutral 3rd party outside the seller. we should be more aware to differentiate people who make "fancy" video for living, and people who make video to educate other people who might spend their money on some product.
