It's pretty straightforward, whenever you drop the object in, it follows the camera on it's own since it's being filmed by a CG camera. However I don't use max enough to know the exact step to have the video background in your viewer.

You basically mask the part that you want to object track, then invert the mask to get the whole scene except the object masked. When exporting, select "Frozen camera, moving scene" . Done. In your 3D program, parent your 3D object to the moving null.
@axumchris12 жыл бұрын
aWESOME...we have most of the common trackers. This was by far the best tutorial. I went back to some previously failed tracks applied some of the tips and worked like a charm...killer!! Now you guys can do the same for pftrack object tracking...
@hardisk12 жыл бұрын
Select one of your nulls on the ground, press p for position , copy and paste the data into the position of your object. Press r for rotation and paste that data into the object aswell. Done.

Nice job on the tool and ability to abstract the methodology of motion tracking. I've been playing around with VooCAT and find it fairly intuitive plus powerful. Has a great tool set similar to Boujou that you demonstrate in this video. For those looking for a motion tracking app, even though it might not be quite as powerful in some area's, it's price tag for a commercial version might be just what your looking for. I can't wait for more of these tutorial video's from you guys!

@hardisk12 жыл бұрын
Boujou is better at handling JPEG sequences for reasons nobody knows. It will affect quality however this doesn't matter since the JPEG footage is only use for reference. When you export your 3D models out of your 3D program and put them back into your edit, you're still rendering the final movie with your original rush ;)

go into 4 view mode and make sure it isn't below a null on the ground. Or you can also copy the position data of the null and paste it to the solid to get it in the general area

boujou will be able to track any shot as long as its rectilinear, aka the straight lines arent curvy like the gopro's fisheye. All you have to do is undistort the fisheye shots, which you can do in after effects with the "lens correction" filter.

For the people who have problems with tracking: Maybe the problem of your not accurate track isn't the program or the settings, it is common that your filmed footage is not good enough. you should make sure you film your footage with a higher shutterspeed, if you got a low shutter speed you'll got a lot of motion blur inside the file. so try to film with good camera settings, if this is not given it will be a lot harder to track accurately. Also a common mistake is the 3D axes. Sometimes you tracked accurate and then the axes in a 3D Programm is kind of off the track, make sure you check this too. that were 2 problems I often made in the past.
@ZombieLiterature12 жыл бұрын
I don't know if this helps but if you're using a plugin like Twixter, try and record the background as plain as possible. It will help a great deal. This is why Twixter works superbly with outdoor skate or bike footage with blue sky :)

Sigh.I follow along like I do every tutorial but NOTHING sticks! The nulls just float around no matter what program I use. Boujou, Pf track, Mocha. I don´t get what the problem is!!
@gownerjones210 жыл бұрын
Same here... I'm starting to suspect something isn't right with my after effects installation. Have you solved the problem by now?
@evillain99910 жыл бұрын
it's depending on the video quality and the camera movements. the better the resolution, the better result. you should use a spot with proper contrast and shadows for your video. i bet you guys simply use videos of shitty quality^^
@gownerjones210 жыл бұрын
Random Logick Yeah that actually was it. I was using my cell phone camera which produced massive amounts of motion blur. It works completely flawlessly with video shot with my DSLR.

Does it help to increase the contrast and or add a sharpen effect to your footage before you export it as an image sequence?
@evilmorph10 жыл бұрын
I'ts logic to think so but I read in many places that the alghoritm works better with raw footage. (raw as untreated) .No Color correction .No sharpening .Recorded with Fast Shutter to minimize motion blur .Not to going out of focus also helps a lot :p .Image Sequence instead of video (.tiff / targa /jpg etc)

Hi guys, love your tutorials.. was wondering if you have a tutorial or would do a tutorial for doing slow-mo stuff? I don't have any expensive equipment but love it when there are slow-mo sections to home videos etc.. however, whenever I have tried it ends up with all these ugly interpolating blurred ghost frames and I am wondering if there are any tricks to filming it better so that I'll be able to produce some slow-mo transitions without the interpolating ghosts?
@JordanFountain12 жыл бұрын
do you guys shoot these at a higher shutter than 180 degrees? if so, whats normal? Faster shutter = less motion blur and better track? do you guys add back in motion blur? Thanks!
@element105ful12 жыл бұрын
Great tutorial! You should make on on what you do with these points once you bring them into a program such as 3ds max as in like build the scene or what ever other voodoo magic you do to make your videos so good.
@MannyFigs12 жыл бұрын
My question is, when Boujou creates the camera, does it also honor the focal length that was use for the original shot. Like for example, say I shot something with a 16mm, does the Boujou camera distort objects around the edges of the frame as if it was a 16mm. Or would it be best to avoid wider shots for tracking? I hope this makes sense.
