Camera unboxing 5D classic! Was it worth it in 2023?!

thankx for the video ! Great camera, the 5DC, I have mine now since a few weeks and I am really enjoying the photos it takes, the colors and the rendering is just incredible. I see that your camera is a serial no starting with 1. You propably know about the mirror coming off issue for lower serial numbers, maybe your seller got it fixed already .... With the focusing thing i realized with the 5DC that the camera has to work good with a particular lens in order to get images as sharp as possible. Most of my lenses work really good with the 5DC. The once that don't focus well have back- or frontfocus or the focus is unreliable (sometimes good focus, sometimes not). Because the 5DC does'nt have micro-adjustment possibilities, I just cannot use those lenses unless I send the camera and the lenses to Canon and get them to adapt the lenses to my particular 5DC. But I use the same lenses as well on my mirrorless camera where they work brilliant. I asked Canon whether such an adjustment would change their focus behaviour on my mirrorless but did'nt get an answer on that. So I am reluctant to get it done. B.T.W. I am into audio and photo as well and can see the parallels in both topics. For example excellent highlight rolloff with top cameras and smooth top end with higher end audio gear, like microphones, preamps a.s.o. I sometimes wonder whether in audio there are solutions for problems which don't exist yet in photo and vice versa. The sharpness discussion in photo reminds me on the top end and clarity discussions in audio when digital started there. People soon realized that the new found clarity does sound clinical and one wanted the analogue artifacts like distortions, noise a.s.o back ..... I think we have reached or will soon reach that point in photo as well. I realized for myself already that a lot of photos I like a lot are not necessary the sharpest. I have the impression that many photographers are one way or the other into audio too ;-) ... thankx again for your video & greetings from germany ...

Indeed, the mirror did fall off on the third use! :) I will tell the story about that, and how I glued it back. It was relatively easy, and it works perfectly since. Your experience with the lenses on the 5DC is a big help to me, and explains a lot what I found with mine. The EF 28mm F1.8 USM lens focuses either a little in the front, or the back, but very rarely if ever on to the actual focal plane where I am focusing. On the mirrorless it is a quite usable lens though, I have problems with focus only when the focal point is away from the center. (Supposedly the focal plane of this lens is not even, but wobbly.) With the Sigma ART 35mm the 5DC focuses marvelously. That is such an amazing combination! I think your audio and camera comparisons are right on. And a lot of them are because the near-same thing is happening in both technologies: power supply noise, transistor background noise, transistor linearity problems, error correction mechanisms.... I am still at the exploration phase with the camera technology, but the deeper I dig the more similarities I find. Cheers, Janos

All the people who praise the 5D classic never tell us how they manage to connect it to their computers: window8 won't "see" the camera, windows10 won't either... Please, what's the solution?

Hi Claude, I use a card reader to download the files. They are very cheap, and much better way to download photos than connecting the camera to the computer, which has very slow download speed.
