Interesting video! As a pro shooter, I chose my system when I started (in 1996). I've had no reason to change, and I've built up a mass of lenses and accessories over the years. It is called a 'system' for a reason. Even so, I do use the odd 'off-brand' camera, for specific purposes. Sony's slomo is fantastic, though the buffer and trigger is a mess. Fujifilm offers amazing options if you want a general point-and-shoot. But overall, I think the bottom line is this: It is not about the camera. As longs as you have good glass and a pro level sensor, you'll get by. Frankly, I've bought tons of gear from guys who decided to switch - suits me down to the ground :) Pick a system and stick with it, there's no reason to flip-flop, it'll just drain your cash. And when a different brand does something amazing that your brand doesn't do - just wait. They all do the same thing after a while...

Agreed, I went from A7 III to S5 II X and the stabilisation is a game changer for anyone that's run and gun or casually documenting life (not shooting rigged up, on a set, with a gimbal etc) being able to just shoot instantly, anywhere - without having to think about it is amazing. It'd be impossible to go without it now I've tried it. Also really like how it seems more "hybrid" the way you can pick what settings are retained or unique between photo/video was something that never felt as clever on the A7 III. All the UI and controls just make more sense and button bindings are super fast to modify. Really impressed with it - the only thing I miss would be better AF like Sony which I'm sure is a focus for Panasonic going forward since it feels like they've nailed everything else and this was already a great leap in AF for them. There's something to be admired by how Panasonic just seem to not hold anything back and they just pack in as much value as possible.

@@Matt-fo4gg well it's not perfect (too much filtering unless you shoot vlog, especially in apsc mode which is basically useless, and rolling shutter). I sold my Canon gear last year (2x R5, 16-35, 24-105, 50, 70-200, 100-500) and bough a Sony 7RV with 24-70 GMII. About 80% of the images in the past I shot were in the range of 24-70. If more wide is required for landscape and architect images I can often work around by stitching images. The quality of the Sony lens and the high Mega Pixel allows to crop. Hence I can easily cover 90% of the shots which I did in the past. Yes I can not do all the pictures I did with my old equipment and the creamy images with the 50mm were outstanding. On the other side I take my new Sony much more often with me. The combo is so light and small. Some other advantages of the 7RV are the amazing autofocus and the higher dynamic range. I have been a bit disappointed with high ISO noise but thanks to the new Lightroom AI noise reduction it can be compensated. Also love the Sony App for GPS synchronization. But it took me a while to get used to the Sony menu. Also the feel of the camera in my hand is not so nice like holding a R5. I only shoot still by the way. Overall I do not regret making this step. Sony really impresses me.

One HUGE issue with the A7S3, is the COST. $3495. Throw in a lens and a person is looking at $4000-$4500. For that much money a person could get an R8, a Z30, a Pocket 3, a couple lenses for each camera, a microphone, some lighting, and STILL HAVE MONEY LEFT OVER vs the A7S3. So really, the A7S3 is absolutely NOT an apples-to-apples comparison. But - taking out the $3495 issue, are we then down to Sony vs Nikon (full frame)?

3 cameras that are all worse than the A7S III, and you spent the same money :) They are cheaper used, and the ZVE1 is basically the same for even cheaper.
@Bill-NM11 ай бұрын
Well, I'd argue, that besides 1080/240 and 4k/120, which of course for some people are VERY attractive features, :) a person would have more capability for more kinds of situations, for the same-ish money using something like the list of cameras/equipment I mentioned previously. No one is arguing that the A7S3 isn't a great/winning camera, but that's like saying that any given "expensive" camera is better than any given less expensive camera that costs a fraction of the price. Well, of course. Now for folks who can afford the A7S3 or ZVE1 (and a couple lenses), and are OK with having ONE camera to do it all for whatever that would cost, then OK, sure, the A7S3 wins. Basically, crowning a winner has to include budget as well as the needs of a given creator. But yes, for studio and slow motion squirrels and such, :) the A7S3 is beyond reproach. Vlogging? A7S III + Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 is basically THE best single-camera solution on the market today. Period. But what I DO need (and pretty much what every single other aspiring KZbinr needs) is the following: insanely good low-light performance and slow motion with really good autofocus in any scenario, 4K60 uncropped full frame, and the ability to record a clean feed externally. The A7S III does all of that, and does it really goddamn well. It's the 5D Mark IV of video.

Nikon goes a little heavy on the reds. For photos, I just reduce it in red channel by 10 percent. or -6. For video, you could reduce the reds a bit in color in software before editing. Simple fix. I think Nikon Full Frame is doing a great comeback with ZF, 6Zii and soon to be released Z6iii with vari angle LCD. You should also be able to save your color profile in camera using Neutral setting, slightly reduced contrast or reduced color. Then no issues. Latest firmware track subject better.

The year is 2035. Sony-Apple releases the Snapple Vision Pro using transparent A7SIII sensors (but still 15-year old sensors) within RayBan frames floating in liquid allowing for 10-stops of IBIS. No zoom yet and only 8K 240FPS. Still looking for the perfect camera.

The Ulanzi mist looks better to me. The exposure looks more even. Mmmm... Liver. The organ that filters toxins out of blood and turns them into bile. I personally would love to eat that, but I can't come up with a valid reason to poison myself. So many videos are shot on the Canon R5 as a studio rig that I have to believe it's the best choice for indoor video. Outdoor vlogging demands something simple to use. Is the Sony A7-III easy to use for vlogging? I haven't tried it but I can't imagine using a full frame camera body for run-&-gun that's for sure.

Sony ZV-E1. Panasonic G9ii. DJI Pocket 3. GoPro 11. I think I have my bases covered (for now).

Panasonic G9II + LX10, you would be able to slap that LX10 ontop of the G9II and have a second view, actually practical thing to do, we often do this with GoPro but using a pocket camera is way better cause it has an actual lens that zooms. Perfect for interviews on the go.

Can absolutely relate to this. Switched from the Sony A7S3 (because they didn't give us lens breathing comp which sucked) to the Lumix S5II. I recently switched to the Sony A7C2 again because of the massive support from companies in terms of accessories, lenses etc. The AF is also the best in the game. Won't switch from Sony again, lessons learned haha

The S5II is a better camera than the A7C II and it was on sale for $1,500. Something you'll never see from Sony's overpriced cameras that still sell for full retail a decade after release lol.

@@michaelbell75 Totally agree, thats why I still have my s5iix, I know one day with some update the autofocus will be as good as sony, and during this time, the A7CII will be replaced by another model with some new functions which could be just replaced by some firmware update instead on releasing another what ever new model again.... ahah

I'm looking to upgrade my camera for a while now. But till that there there is no perfect camera. With Sony it's a pity that there is such chaos in the in the lineup. Three camera lines all with overlapping functions and still most of them miss some specs. A faster burst mode would be great, but if you want to have more than 10 or 11 images/s you need the A9 or A1. If you want to get a fast camera with high resolution you have the Z9, Z8, R5 which all cost way less than the A1 and get more updates...

I did the same. Got Sony and sold it because I thought it was better on the other side. Tried canon and ibis wobbles and dynamic range killed it. Tried Panasonic which was close however the autofocus couldn’t keep up and it was a little tank. Tried Fuji which offered an awesome handling,good menu system and autofocus. However crop sensor will never compare to full frame in low light and image detail. Ultimately you find yourself coming back. Got an A7Cii recently and truly love it. If the crop in 4k 60 it would be perfect .

EDIT: Actually just remembered I shot with the F707 in 2001! I have been shooting Sony since 2005 with the R1. Then in 2010 I purchased the NEX-5, their first mirrorless camera. I used adapted Leica and Voigtlander glass until I bought the A7R II in 2015. Then I started using adapted Canon TSE lenses until I bought the A9. That's when I finally purchased Sony FE mount lenses to take advantage of the insane autofocus. The 24-70mm f4 "Zeiss" and the 70-200mm f4 OSS, which shattered when I dropped it on set earlier this year. Disappointing build quality for such a costly lens. Just four thin plastic tubes holding the lens mount onto the rest of the lens and they all snapped in half at impact. I can't bring myself to buy the old or new 70-200mm f4... All this time and I still haven't memorized the menus. Probably because I'm a dumb@$$ PHOTOGRAPHER ; )
