This is one of the best HC-X1 hands on reviews on youtube! Thank you for the info

I fail to see how 23 people as of today can dislike this video, what's the matter with some people? The video is informative without being overly complicated with jargon, it explained virtually everything to me about the camera that I was interested in knowing. I am a stills photographer who shoots wildlife but also like to shoot video, I have been using a Sony NEX-EA50 shoulder camera which was very nice but lacked ND filters and a decent zoom lens unless I attached my Nikon 600mm f/4 but that also had drawbacks as I lost any AF capability and it was far too heavy to hump around, you were in essence stuck where you set it up!! This Panasonic seems like the ideal camera for my purposes as the 20x optical zoom gives me something like 480mm of reach if we compare to a 35mm camera. The only downside is the poor touch screen which is difficult to see under bright lighting but hey, you can't have everything can you, well not unless you have about £10k to spend. This is a decent review my friend & your English is excellent, I will be buying this camera and you have also gained a subscriber. Thanks for the information.

100% getting this as a documentary camera. I can't stand most large sensor interchangeable lens "modular" camera systems that are the trend these days. Don't get me wrong, they produce some mighty fine images for sure, especially in a controlled environment, but so unergonomic and fiddly for use in the field. Give me a proper broadcast style camera like this any day! This camera ticks every box for me, with the exception of it being a bit big for travelling, but it could be a lot worse! The vloggers can keep their fancy autofocusing Sony a7iii's and gimbals... 120p would have been nice but it's so overrated and realistically there's little need for it. 60p is fine for most things and you can always cheat in post I guess. And I didnt know it shoots IR but it's like you read my mind... so happy it can do this! Thanks for the review, very helpful!

It's definitely a great camera. I only wonder, is it so much better, that i should consider it over Panasonic HC-X1500 and pay about 1000€ more of this HC-X1 ?? Only thing actually concerns me about HC-X1500 is a very small censor, and that so the low-light image quality. But as i'v watched few sample videos, must say that image quality also in low-light seem to be at leas decent in HC-X1500...

Excellent review. This camera would be Great “smaller brother” for my DVX200. It is true that these larger cameras cannot be used without some officious type coming out and saying “no, no, no, not without a permit.” That is where the Sony NX80 is great - if you take the handle off it doesn’t get noticed much, but still has a large 1 inch sensor, and the handle can be reattached to get some low shots. The X1 though has 3 manual rings, choice of cinema 4K, 50/60p 4K, and more detail in the image. In the studio the “big” DVX200 is a dream to use, but outdoors it is a pain because it is a “permit camera”.

Wow. This was such a great video. Great information, beautiful footage, very thorough. I like this camera, but I hate the size of it. I shoot with camcorders and DSLRs. I much rather use a camcorder for shooting video(especially events, such as weddings), but at the same time, I usually shoot with two cameras, so it's nice to have something that isn't to heavy to lug around for 8-10 hours.

I am glad to come across your PANASONIC HC-X1 great review. I have been searching for a camera that is suitable for my needs. As a healthcare professional and educator and one man worker l believe this camera is suitable for me and cheap enough for my budget compared to Canon C100 Mark11 which l was considering. I have been eying this Panasonic for some time now as a beginner, and it was difficult to come to a decision. Panasonic has this model on their official website and have spoken to them. Thank you for helping me to make up my mind, it is not how expensive video camera is but what it is going to be used for. I am going to use it for Health Education, Health promotion on KZbin Channel and on my Website. Thank you so much for great detailed review and recommendations!

@SuperJasonGold7 жыл бұрын
that's exactly what i'm trying to figure out. i don't understand what the difference is.
@PHSPictures7 жыл бұрын
It really depends on what you need it for. The UX is better suited for multi-cam shoots, because it has a TC connection. It also has SDI whereas the HC-X1 doesn't. If you have or work in a professional or educational studio environment then its the UX. If you're a solo shooter, you can get by with the X1.
@thedigitalemotion6 жыл бұрын
Why 'o' why do Panasonic refuse to remove the obsolete SD composite outputs on a 4K camera? I have the AGAC160 and even back then I was puzzled why. As far as competition goes, the Sony PXW-Z280 is a far better camera in terms of image quality and low light sensitivity.

Is it just me or is the dynamic range - especially the highlights atrocious?
@dirkardostevergreen48272 жыл бұрын
Yes that is a problem with this camera. I got one about three years ago and don't get me wrong, I love it and it takes pretty good quality images, but the way it processes highlights was a disappointment, especially when you look back on your footage and someone's face has nasty white patches! I've found the best way around it is to have the ND filter on maximum in any bright light situations and then brighten in post. I'm a video editor so that's not really an issue for me but annoying never the less. The other issues I have is that the LCD screen is virtually useless in even slightly sunny situations as it's so reflective and also if you accidentally leave it on it won't shut off automatically meaning you can easily drain the battery. But other than that, it's pretty good.

@cinereali19726 жыл бұрын
My guess is, Panasonic probably did this as a middle finger to the people with alot of money but little videography skill. Most people who would spend this kind of money on a camcorder, know what they're doing and don't use "auto" anything. To the best of my knowledge, Canon is the only brand that has perfected auto focusing. This leaves all other brands, including Sony, with an auto focus feature that second guesses itself like a teenager experiencing puberty for the first time..every-time. Learn how to operate your camera in manual or get screwed whenever your camera doesn't like the lighting situation.
