Honestly after using the 24-105 F4-7.1 it just dosent help when i need to zoom it and its a bit low light. If could restart my journey i would have bought the 24-105 F4 not the F4-7.1

The only reason I would upgrade to a 6D II from my 6D classic would be for the flippy screen...

I bought this lens and never regret. It's portable and affordable price. The image quality is very impressive. The lack of image stabilization is not a big deal for me because I pair it with my R6 MII which has ibiz. The only problem is auto focus is slow when zoom in over 200mm.

I had been considering the GX9, but had read a few reviews on the FS EVF 🤯Thank you so much for this video ... think I'll look at the GX8, now! The OLED is probably on par with my Fuji x100t.

When my second 50mm 1.8 II lens died I spent forever weighing up the advantages of these two lenses. In the end I went with the 40, and it was immediately the right choice. A much more useful FOV and much, much sharper, even from way open. The size is amazing. The one downside - the relatively slow 2.8 aperture - doesn't bother me at all. The 40 is much, much more useful much more of the time.

Your video is one of the most complete I've seen, thank you for the time you took to mention so many details. My final question is: I'm about to buy the second-hand Canon 6D to start with astrophotography, landscapes and hiking in the countryside. Which of the two lenses do you recommend for these things? Thanks in advance, regards.

I still have my 6D and 40mm but sold 50mm lens. 6D and 40mm are a perfect match, very compact combination (relatively speaking) and great for hiking. 6D is great in low light so you will be able to do some astro as well.

I always smile when a reviewer says the ergonomics are perfect on the G9. It's good but that hair trigger of a shutter button is a huge negative and drives me mad when for the tenth time that day you accidently brush it with your thumb and fire of a burst!

After 20+ years of using only DSLRs and EF/EF-S lenses, I finally made the move to mirrorless this year. I've got the R5, and the R6 Mk II (and may add the R5 Mk II as well, not quite sure yet). My all-time favorite lens on my DSLRs was the 24-105 EF. Just a nice, versatile, all-around good lens for most situations. Thus, it was a no-brainer to add the f/4 USM to my gear bag, once I took delivery of my 100-500 and 200-800 lenses. In fact, the f/4 just arrived today, and went directly from the box onto my R6.2. So far, so good. At this price point (I got a used one from UPP for less than I had expected to pay), it's a complete winner. I had given a bit of thought about the newer "Z" model of the 24-105, but it's way too expensive, and I also read a lot of comments that it's surprisingly heavy as well.

Thanks for your interesting and balanced analysis. Sensor quality, not camera feature set, should be paramount in any camera review, but it is all too often glossed over. I'm unsure what extreme cropping really proves for real world photography. However, on the subject of colour rendition I think your analysis was accurate and incisive. As a 6D Mk1 owner I have compared 6D images on high resolution platforms such as 500PX with the Mk2 and the Canon RP mirrorless. I did this to help decide whether to "upgrade" either to the Mk2 or RP (because the RP had the same sensor as the 6D Mk2.) From my own comparison I agree that the 6D not only has the better colour rendition, but it is rendering shades and hues of colour that are not actually picked up by the 6D Mk2. So you can't recover these subtle colours in post production from the 6D Mk2 Raw files. So I share your disappointment, because the Mk2 and RP have really useful extra features such as better focusing and a tilt screen. I think if Canon had simply reused the sensor from the Mk1 in the Mk2 they would have produced a truly excellent DSLR!

With the Laowa lens hood, since it is metal, if you carefully squeeze the lens hood you can slightly deform the ring and make it hold on tighter. I did that with mine and it worked great.

I've been looking all around youtube to find how does the Pen E-PL7 shutters sounds like (even types in Japanese in-case they have videos of it) and this is probably the only video to showcase it. Was wondering about it since I was on the fence between getting this over the E-P5 but then finds out the E-PL7 doesn't have silent electronic shutter. Seems like it sounds okay but after much consideration I might go for the E-P5 instead. Much love, thank you for the great video!

Great with my R10. I also got the EF-S 10-18 STM and EF-S55-250 STM as a fantastic, lightweight kit with the R10 and a continuous 16-400mm effective field of view. And at 2024 prices all three used in excellent condition for about $500. Totally satisfied with the images as well as the build and handling of these lenses. I am a former pro who is now just a hobbyist (hate that word! It sounds so dilettante! LOL) and also have the R8 with most all of the STM primes and the 24-105 F7.1 and 100-400 F8 for when I crave full frame, but that R10 with those three STMs has really grown on me! And yes, I will sometimes take that 100-400 USM F8 with my R10 for a 640mm effective field of view If I am doing more serious wildlife/sports and need that extra reach. Excellent review and pretty danged accurate. Thankfully a bit of post handles all the issues, and sitting at post is something I truly love!
