Camilla Meets Jockey Rachael Blackmore at Stables

The Duchess of Cornwall visited Henry de Bromhead stables in Waterford during her tour of the Republic of Ireland with the Prince of Wales. Whilst there, she chatted to Grand National winner Rachael Blackmore and petted some of the horses, telling one "we'll all be behind you". . Report by Lucy Lewis.

Duchess of Cornwall, my father was from Waterford, came to the 🇺🇸 in 1905. I remember my father buying tickets for the Irish Steeplechase race. Although my father never rode a horse my mother did! This was a trip you obviously must have enjoyed being a rider yourself! God save the Queen! Do either you or Prince Charles still ride? I hope so or at least like Prince Philip ( God Rest His Soul) went into cart/wagon racing!

The monarchy is an outdated institution harkening back to the days of imperialism & colonialism. Despite that, it has survived due to the respect the Queen has earned all around the world. (I have an immense amount of respect for HM myself). But once she is gone, I find it hard to imagine that people in commonwealth countries will put up with the likes of Charles and Camilla. They’re extremely unpopular outside of Britain, no matter how you want to frame it. I expect we’ll see most, if not all, of the commonwealth move towards independence from the crown.
