Camille is correct. Although married (4) times my feminist sister (82) revels in her victim mind-set. (Drives me crazy.) Contrast: My eldest granddaughter (32) is drop dead good looking and wicked smart and plays her hand masterfully. She has it all, a beautiful home, a high value husband, (3) well-adjusted exceptionally bright children, she is business partner with her husband and on path to retire at 40 years old. My girl is one of the most capable women I know and she is no fool or victim.

Whenever I see a name that contains "-GLI-" I automatically assume that the name is Italian and that the "G" is silent. In the early 1980's, (Felice) Leo(nardo) Buscaglia (not to be confused with any woman named "Phyllis") became nationally prominent overnight. A student in a college class named "Triglione" shouted "TriLOHnee" at the top of his lungs every time the teacher said "Trig-lee-OH-nee." This made me aware of how the "G" in Italian before "LI" was silent.

Nobody is claiming all women are victims. However, when men sexually harrass or sexually assault women, shouldn't society discuss this issue? There is no question women are doing better today compared to 50 years ago. But what about women in third world countries where their lifetime role is determined for them? There are still arranged marriages. Very few women can reach the top of the corporate ladder if they make that their goal? Still, more woman are opening their own businesses. I hear very few women badmouthing men today. More often, a woman may not like a man as an individual rather than the entire male gender. Business is still lobbying against passage of the U.S. Equal Rights Amendment, which certainly is not a threat to this nation.

Camille Paglia is a perfect example of why intellectuals are prone to the same pitfalls as everyone else. First she recognizes that young women have overtaken old women in terms of consolidation of power. Then she claims that the culture of matriarchal power was preserved by elder women. A few breaths later she's saying women were given the power to remove themselves from the kitchen by capitalism, yet it didn't make them happy, so they blamed men. She says all of this while conveniently leaving out the conflicting legal codification of a woman's value based on their appearance as they entered the capitalist workforce. Old women were not, and still aren't, accepted on the level that old men are in society. This is a result of legal precedents set in the later part of the 20th century. Women were either too beautiful, or not beautiful enough. The standard of beauty was set by men trying to sell women superfluous products that would enhance their femininity, even though femininity was being defined by the same men who were trying to sell them bullshit. I've noticed this page calls itself PhilosophyInsights, yet there is a distinct lack of philosophy being showcased that isn't related to contemporary identity politics. Seems like a classic Trojan Horse tactic. Pretend like you're a philosophy page, yet within there's nothing but a one sided representation of conservative ideology.

I’m going to very strongly disagree with you on the first Two concepts. We do not need competition or aggression Those two factors actually make our civilizations much much worse and are the worst. Worst aspects of humans, society, and everything else in the world. It is not masculine to be aggressive. Only weak people are aggressive True strength comes from being calm, sturdy and able to do anything. He wants in life facing challenges without the need for aggression. It is aggression and the desire for conquering which destroys societies create scarcity and causes violence Then you have competition. There is no need for humans to ever engage in competition for any reason. In fact, it is this encouragement of competition, which makes people violent towards each other selfish and do everything they can for themselves without considering the community or any other human being Competition not necessary and never was Cooperation always works much better. It is cooperation with friendship, joy, and enthusiasm, which creates the most wonderful products and services. Competition was never needed In fact, it is because of competition that many of the best ideas and best innovations have never seen public light. It is the power of the strong in business and media which squashes any advancements in humanity Therefore, I very strongly emphasize that competition and aggression or harmful to civilization harmful to humanity, harmful to economies and nations, and must be relegated to history.

All things in balance. Humans are apes and apes show aggression as well as cooperation and it is best we work realistically with who we are. Cooperation and competition can work really well side by side, look at the creative output of the Beatles for example. Lennon and McCarthy were said to be competitive in this form and as a whole band they produced so much new output. In our own selves we set benchmarks all the time to compare how we are going, be it sport, creatively or anything else. What is that if not a level of competitiveness? There are also times you need to hold your ground and when cooperation doesn't work then aggression is at times necessary. To suggest our natures need to be relegated to history is misconceived.

Men in this country should feel vindicated to some degree after watching and listening to Camille Paglia admit and inform us all about the true practices of modern-femenism in regard to how they groom women and the effects these attitudes and opinions have on relations between men and women. Camille Paglia shares with us how "upper middle class professional women are unhappy, miserable-they don't know why they're unhappy, they want to blame it on men-men must change, men must become more like women." She very assertively explains that due to our innate gender differences our respective behaviors have been shaped through millennia and thus "men are men" and they are confortable being men. By the same token women and their innate gender differences has been shaped through millennia to make them innately more nurturing, assume the caring for children, etc. During this video interview one of the three-failures of modern feminism was identified as "victim mentality" and how feminist victim culture has become institutionalized by teaching women that they're "victims of the patriarchy" and thus narrowing womens' focus to grievances and conflicts instead of accentuating the achievements of women. Camille Paglia discusses the rise of "second wave feminism" and how she witnessed the unfolding of the womens' movement to one that "would blame men, they would bad-mouth men instead of admiring men for what they had done-these women were insane." She describes for us how "authentic leftism" and modern-femenism have little in common because modern-femeinism today is no longer about putting its enfaces on having equal opportunities for women to achieve on the basis of their own merits, virtues, determination, and skills. For all that was discussed there wasn't any mention of the recruitment practices of women by modern-feminism and how the promises of financial independence, independent living, career opportunities, professional responsibilities, etc., are used to disassociate women from their innate roles as nurturing, caring, loving mothers and wives. This was somewhat of a disappointment because the reality men live today is one of seeing women without the inclination to engage in meaningful relationships with men, avoidant of marriage commitments, avoidant of becoming mothers, and not willing to build lasting and enduring unions between men and women. To better explain the current reality between men and women would be to use an analogy that clearly sees women that fall under the spell of modern-femeinins becoming shaped and made readied according to the attitudes and opinions they're being taught. No different than any manufactured consumer product, those who get to create it give them the features they want them to have and nothing else before making it available for public consumption. The attitudes and opinions women are being taught today are the features that modern feminism want them to have and the effects this has on real life relations between men and women is that this contrived product isn't natural, isn't normal, doesn't have the innate virtues and qualities that make women what they're intended to be. In her own words, Camille Paglia states "this great thing that has happened to us, allowing us to be totally self-supporting, independent agents has produced all this animosity between men and women-women feel unhappy, women today wherever I go, Italy, Brazil, England, or America or Toronto-the upper middle class professional women are unhappy, miserable and they don't know why they're unhappy, they want to blame it on men-men must change, men must become more like women." If you go on to read the second, you see how men are capable, due to their own hurts, of inflicting abuse and treating it as normal (both within their reasoning, and also amongst themselves).
