Camille Saint-Saëns - Danse Macabre for Violin & Orchestra

Just in time for Halloween, here is my arrangement of Camille Saint-Saëns's great violin piece , Dance Macabre.
To create the arrangement and backing track I used my sample libraries by Spitfire : BBC PRO Orchestra and Fractured Strings
my Violin is Live recorded with my SE Electronics RN17 Stereo Pair
and I used my Merging Technologies "Anubis" Interface

Wonderful new interpretation and arrangement of one of the classical pieces that has deeply fascinated me. I think the main future of classical music lies just on these new interpretations and re-arrangements, where the performer is free to play his own version and add new things, without only having to endlessly repeat what was already written centuries ago. These new versions of classical pieces began in the late 60's and early 70's, by some of the most important prog-rock bands, like Emerson, Lake & Palmer and many others. And now I gladly see this movement also growing up within the field of classical music itself and several originally classical musicians, also struggling to bring a 'breath of fresh air' to the area. As musically ( yes, I'm also a musician, though not professionally ), I come fundamentally from prog-classical-rock, but also listening to the classics, I feel very glad in listening to classical music itself being renewed. I have never seen, or heard, anything more screaming perfection. I absolutely love this, and I admire this violinist as one of the finest ♥ love her.....simply.....World Class. I would give anything to be taught by someone of this calibre....how amazing would that be? I understand it takes decades to get to this ladies standards, but, what a gift at the end. My soul is memorised and my body frozen listening to this love of perfection. Bravo ❤

I must be honest, it was not from memory- because I learned and recorded it in one day ! It took me more days to program and arrange the entire backing track so there was no time left for practicing !

I use Spitefire BBC Pro myself and your backing track is sounding so real, much better then most Spitfire demos - really thought it was a real orchestral performance. Thumbs up! Great arrangement and impressive backing track.

Totally loved it. Loved the pizzicato parts, specially after the sustained parts and also because it doesn't sound so dipped in reverb, perhaps because of the room and it's just a single violin, but it sounds intimate and warm. The only question u have is, the stereo pair mics you have set up, what did you uses them for? For ambience? Or capturing more body to the instrument? Well amazing job Rus, as usual. Amazing gift for this day, thank you very much. ❤️😊❤️

Actually the stereo pair is how I always record my violin for sessions. I didn’t use much reverb on purpose - I wanted to make it more realistic since I’m recording for from a small room and wanted that Intimate small performance feeling

And I totally agree with you about the Reverb, specially on pizzicato (for me it's an articulation that, by itself, already sounds like it has to much Reverb to it) and also it sounds fantastic, totally love your tone.
