My Camino de Santiago backpacking list. This complete Camino packing guide is useful for pilgrims planning to hike the Camino Frances, Camino Portuguese, Camino del Norte, Camino primitivo or any other pilgrimage or long distance hiking routes which have hostel accommodation. I will show you what gear I took in my atom packs backpack for a summer (August and September) camino but it will also be helpful if you are planning a spring camino or fall Camino. I hope this helps in planning for the Camino de Santiago 2024 ! I was not ultralight backpacking, but my full pack was fairly lightweight!

Hi Kate , do you ever sleep under the stars on a perfect night? Especially the mesita?

I didn’t pack a sleeping mat. However I met people who stayed at the San Anton monastery ruins (which is a very basic albergue) where there is the option to sleep outside in the monastery ruins. This is in the Meseta. There are also people who stealth camp along the trail - but this is not actually permitted as far as I am aware.

Thanks you Kate really useful. Last question accommodation do you need to book anything or what's a good web site to plan the walk identifying where to stop.

Thank you it’s good to have a uk kit list as lots of the ones I have seen are good but have USA / Canadian items so it’s great to see choices from UK, what month did you do the Camino was the sleeping bag warm enough?

Glad it was helpful! I did import some stuff through the garage grown gear website. But I got stung for import duties! I think you can avoid these duties if your order is under $100. Mine was just over! 🙉 I also imported the sleeping bag but there are similar lightweight cheap options on Amazon uk. I was their 20th august to end of October. Yes the sleeping bag was warm enough! Buen camino!
