Very informative, thank you. If I could walk it again I would since the views are fantastic. No shared places but I remember walking past the Cathedral in Astorga so that was familiar.

We also hope we are able to walk it again in a few years. It takes some planning to get there but we loved the experience so much. And yes, that Cathedral and Palace in Astorga are memorable! Glad you had the experience, Buen Camino! 😀

I love this video, prices and shots of the rooms, so useful! Now I'll have to watch the rest of your series. Curious, now that you finished the whole Camino Frances, which towns would you choose along the way to stay 2-3 nights for a little rest and recovery?

Good question. We chose our stops based on when my blisters got worse and not just for cute towns. But looking back, we loved the cities - Pamplona, Legroño and León really stood out for us. Some of the smaller towns that had good vibes, I'd say Belorado, or Villafranca del Bierzo. We liked Ponferrada, but next time maybe we'll stop a little earlier that day, Molinaseca seemed really cute and comfortable.

Didn't book past SJPDP - never knew how far I was going to walk (35km a day usually). Plaza Catedral, Las Penas (loved Najera) and Alburgue San Miquel only common stays. Only one day of rain! was a bonus for me. Walking as a couple is a bonus making private rooms affordable. I did splurge a couple of times for private when I felt some quiet was needed. Thanks for sharing, and 35km a day is impressive! We did it a couple of times, but Robb was fighting blisters most of the way so 18-25km was more our pace. And yes, private rooms are a much bigger splurge if you are walking solo. We appreciate your comment, glad you are enjoying this video series. 😀

I was looking forward to this to compare to my own beds. The only one we have in common is Roncesvalles 😂 Thar one is definitely a must. Also did some private rooms here and there but being a solo traveler that quickly adds up and yes , the disconnect. September definitely had some bottlenecks where people taxied up and down because of the lack of accommodation. Staying mid stages obviously has less facilities. And the rumours of said bottlenecks then turned into a self fulfilling prophecy , basic psychology 101 😂😂

Thank you for sharing your experience. This lines up with what we have heard from others as well. Almost everywhere else we've traveled, going in the shoulder months of May and September are less crowded than summer, but the Camino is not like other places we've traveled! While things were definitely busy, we never had trouble finding a place to stay which we were very happy about. Of course, no guarantee that doesn't change in future years! 😀

Fantastic thank you.Most of the places you stayed seemed great, clean, friendly and functional. Found your information very helpful as we have usually opted for the “convenience” of a pre booked private room, self guided trip, paid per person it was more than double your prices! You have made me feel a little more confident to do my own research and save $$$$! Are you feeling any leanings toward another Camino? Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺👭🎒👍

Glad to help! Convenience is sometimes an important factor to consider, and we do at times for sure. But at least in June and July, we found finding places to stay to be very easy, so we were glad to save the money! lol. And yes, we loved the Camino experience, and fully expect to walk it again. 😃

How did you pay? Were you able to use credit cards or did you have to carry cash? Thank you for the info!

Mostly we used cards, at least for everywhere we booked ahead online. A few of the albergues we just walked into asked for cash. And a few cafes along the way. We did another video where we talked about the cash vs card question, I can't remember the exact number now but I think we had like 600 Euros is all with us which ended up being plenty, and everything else went on the credit card. This was the Frances, I suspect other routes might still require more cash.

We started at the beginning of June until mid July. It was a good time for us, everything was open but never too crowded. And great weather!
