Love to see you cranking that barrel distortion! Also awesome how these lenses have some FF coverage. I just think it's wild we're getting these so soon after the Remus... Like what else are they gonna throw at us this year 😅!

Focus and zoom control: if you use tilta m motors with the tilt right handle, it has a focus wheel and zoom toggle, you can focus and zoom one handed, running and gunning🎉. If you have access to a Chrosziel Zoomer mounted on a fx6, you can zoom the lens synced with the clear image zoom, that will give you effectively a x3 zoom seamlessly. Enjoy!

I think I will stick with my Blazar Remus 3 lens set. Not liking the look of these lens compared to the Remus. I get they have zoom, but they are just too big and heavy for my style of shooting + the remus are super light

How does the pocket 6K open gate stack up to the Komodo X in your opinion? I would think not quite as deft at manipulating in post as the Komodo X but curious your thoughts.

7:50 anamorphics as a whole aren’t super clean anyway so that’s no dealbreaker. I’m a 1st AC and have pulled with most of the popular big gun anamorphics and they still have issues. I just finished a feature with Cooke 2x SF Anamorphics and even those things had bad chromatic aberration on high contrast corners against the sky at a 4/5.6, and those are $30K each. Great review!

You say super 35 allowed the lenses to be this size… Does the size for FF anamorphic zooms come from the fact that they are anamorphic? The Catta Ace Zooms don’t seem much larger for FF.

So essentially if you're shooting on 16:9 full frame camera they are usable starting from ±40 mm? This might be much more interesting proposition than Blazar Remus set
@cammackey8 ай бұрын
Yes, tho 40mm will still have slight vignetting. If you want more anamorphic character, the Blazar Remus all day. But if you want a zoom and sharper mroe spherical leaning look with anamorphic flares; then these are perfect for that

@RoadFromNowhere_SE01Ай бұрын
Have you shot these with the Remus? If so do they match well enough in colour and contrast etc?

I have mixed them together. These Laowa zooms look almost spherical in comparison. But they help a lot with keep our destretch consistent on a project

I just don’t see enough of an anamorphic look from any of the cheap Chinese anamorphic lenses that I couldn’t easily do in post on a spherical… and still retain autofocus (Sony.) I’d rather see what you really want, like, and would use.
@cammackey8 ай бұрын
Go watch my Remus video. These zooms are going to be a great option when I need a zoom or telephoto, instead of doing fake black bars that totally have a different vibe no matter what you do in post.. I rather use these. And the subtle flares can’t be replicated in post still without a proper effects department.. which is kinda crazy we don’t have an AI plugin that can do it yet gaha
