instead of the class item rolling with stats, having a masterworked class item should give you a pool of points you can spend on whatever stat you want.

This is how it should be. The way it is now you could grind armor for millenia and still be chasing after better rolls. I see no reason why you can't get 65 points per armor piece, (75 for exotics) which you can allocate how you see fit. (except for the class item, which gets less.) Hell, make the exact number of stats you get random, but you can still allocate them wherever you want. No more having 29 intellect that wastes 9 points AND you still have tier 2. You can build how you want according to the stats you need.

Yeah I 9999% agree with the statement “when I finish a build I play more not less” if rng is too crazy then motivation to keep going for that build slowly creeps away and maybe one just settles for a close match. The most fun happens when u land the stats u want with the gun rolls one has collected and FINALLY get to have actual fun in the game. My main worry is that this new armor system grind will be a time sink like no other. The ONLY silver lining I can see is if they make certain archetypes of armor farmable in certain activites so that we can kinda target farm what we want for pvp, pve or whatever. If alll arachetypes drop from everything then itll be a painful waiting game just to have fun again. Ive been play for allll 10 yrs and I’m NOT looking forward to grinding armor again just to get back to having fun. Just really annoying. I REALLY hope they make it easy and fast to grind.

The final point Cammy makes nails the issue for me. I WANT TO PLAY THE GAME, NOT JUST ONE ACTIVITY THAT OPERATES LIKE A SLOT MACHINE. Determinism is crucial and it goes beyond just attunement of a weapon when weapons have so many perk combinations that the chance of getting what you want is so low that you may never see what you want. I'd rather get the toys I want and play with them than simply chase for the toys in the first place. That's just not fun for me. I'm all for playing the game but if I have to gamble to enjoy it, what's the point? Edit: I should clarify, I don't mind grinding but the way things are now, like Cammy said, things are too random with not enough deterministic paths to get what you want. I'm okay with grinding as long as my time is respected in a reasonable amount of time so that I can play the game beyond just chasing. If it's not then I think it's fair to raise concerns

The problem is the people who completely downplay these issues are the same ones who loudly complained that "crafting ruined destiny" and "its just 10 levels" both because they can't get get friends to raid weekly anymore because they're nolonger forced to do so. Those people don't see the point: destiny isn't a true MMO, its just emulating the worst bits of MMOs and people are blindly defending it. If theres slim to none chance you'll get the roll you're looking for on something there's no point in going for it because by the time you get it you'll have burnt yourself out farming an activity you may not have minded in the beginning but grew to hate by the end. Thats without considering bungies track record for releasing something unique to get people farming for playtime then releasing something very similar but slightly better than it a season later, they're all contributers to people dropping the game.

Couldn't agree more. Have been in it for the long haul so many times, to get things situated, so that I can optimally play the game. Only to have the rug pulled out from under me, then having to hop back on the treadmill, just to get back to where I was before. I just want to play what I feel like, when I feel like it, without feeling like I'm at a disadvantage for not doing my homework... Oh and vault space was already a looming issue, before this announcement. The thought of dealing with that while trying to rebuild my loadouts 🤮

My main concern is that the content devs said they specifically design encounters for certain weapons, and now the armor guys are saying they have set bonuses for certain weapons? Are we expected to store whole sets of armor for each build and then for each weapon you could want in that build,and then swap on a per encounter basis in a raid or dungeon? Sounds ridiculous.

@@CardinalCake i don't understand the point of having a vault space limit tbh. a vault's maximum space should be the total amount of weapons and armor in the game, and same armor or weapons with different stats or perks should be stored under the armor or weapon that it is apart of, until every possible perk combination for a weapon has been rolled. for armor, i'd imagine maybe there could be some sort of stat minimum before you can store armor or something like that. it's just dumb to have a Vault space limit in general imo. feels like artificial scarcity implemented to keep the game active.

I honestly feel like Bungie has all the systems in places to improve the game but just can't put the pieces together. Like Crafting has issues but how they handle them in raids may be a great transfer into the regular game. Collecting all the patterns means that extra perks can drop on the adept version. Just translate that to non raids. Unlocking a crafting pool fully just adds extra perks and raises the chance to get shiny weapons. Armor could work the same, unlicking a set could creat a scenario where you can manpulate stats or something or unlock the armor perk to put on different pieces of armor.

Along with these changes, I think they should increase the minimum stats on armor. 99% of armor that goes into my inventory is instantly dismantled because it’s less than 67 total. I understand that they don’t wanna hand out triple or quad 100s to anyone, but seeing a 59 stat artifice roll or a 50-something stat piece of raid armor is something that needs to be changed; these are endgame activities after all. to be clear I’m not asking for them to be a perfect 68 stat every time, but at least get rid of the < 64 total crowd.

I think bungie has already made a really good structure for grinding in destiny. The nechrochasm quest. They should get more credit for this, and more things should be modeled after it. A clear and consistent way to get progress (full runs of Crota give a guaranteed essence), random chance for progress boosts (random encounter essence drops), random chance to stop grinding (getting all essence to drop randomly from a crota kill) I believe crafting could be modified with this structure to great effect random drops of craftable weapons also need to enhanceable. The random 5/5 drop before the crafted version should not be an autodismantle. with the numbers tuned correctly under this system, I believe crafting could be added to every weapon without hurting the loot chase like the current iteration does.

They should do set bonus like, "+15% shield damage" or "increases outgoing healing by 5%" Or "2 pieces grant +10 strength, 4 pieces grants +25 strength" etc etc Make a reason to actually farm multiple armour sets. Let me make a crit multiplier build, or shield break build, or stun build, etc. Armour sets should have their own reasons for Grinding.

I'm hoping that armor grinds become incredibly easy, only taking a grind session to completely optimize a build. The trade off being that we want to grind set bonuses and thus we need to grind like 2 or 3 different sets, each with maybe 3 or 4 builds per character. And we conduct this grind every Episode depending on Raid/Dungeon content available. The journey to optimization shouldn't be a long time investment. Just deep enough to warrant some level of grind but a brisk enough process so we aren't burning ourselves out trying to find the most nuanced stat line we seek. I'd rather see a 1 in 5 chance of getting the best Helmet possible for an armor set than the 1 in 1000 line up. And then doing that 5 times for 1 complete set, per character, on say 3 differents sets. 5 x 5 x 3 x 3 = 225 different combinations. That is way more than enough grind per Episode, on top of Weapon grinding too.

What do you mean with "completely optimize"? Because if it is reaching max potential, hyper-optimized god roll stats with statistically perfect rolls then I don't really agree. The problem currently is that it's just a mindless slot machine with 0 variety. You either farm artifice armor at nauseum, or farm the fastest seasonal armor. You also dismantle every other armor meaning that 85% of drops in the game are just useless, no matter how good they are stats-wise. Also, the current system of increments of 10 means that single stats points can be huge dealbreaker, and you really need to get lucky, making the whole process tedious and uninteresting. The new system will address a lot of these points, but I would still like to see 100% totally, completely and definitively perfect armor setups being rare. The time that you need to currently get a good armor set should absolutely go down, but if 1.5 hours of easy grinding is enough to get the absolute perfect max rolls for all pieces, then what even is the point in dropping armor in the first place? Might as well make them deterministic mods via challenges/triumphs and call it a day, it even saves vault space! The new system needs to make switching to new armor pieces easier, faster and less painful, but it shouldn't just hand out free 100% speedruner-level god rolls to everyone in half an hour, so that you still look forward to the loot you get, rather than dismantling everything immediately...just like we're doing now.

@@themaxpanteraschannel9459 I mean, I grinded over 200 pieces of Artifice Armor the week before Lightfall ruined the grind. So I never had a desire to go back in and get more armor that takes care of the slight stat issues. But I haven't touched the armor grind SINCE that very week since my builds are mostly complete. If we're going to be grinding armor again, and at a higher frequency than ever, it better be easier to obtain the best roll possible. Some grinds like Master Raids or Dungeons can still be more difficult than an average grind from a playlist, but the caveat being that those set bonuses better be worth the grind when I do get the god roll. If it's only a bonus that will grant damage resist within that particular Raid/Dungeon, I'm not too interested in a long grind session for it.

Screw double, for a game about loot and rolls both on the weapon and armor (exotic included) side we need enough space to have every combination in the game and then some. This game is a joke for running for a decade with a such a laughable amount of storage claiming to be an mmorpg 💀

Bungie could take e simple look at the division 2 and try to make something similar, in that game, specific armor or weapon type drops have a daily cycle to each zone of the map, activities and missions, for example: this zone here will have around 80% chance of droping a grenade launchers and this one here will drop more of that one set you're looking for or this one here will drop more random headpieces than others, all the zones have a toggle button in the map that displays the icons of specific drops on each area and activities, and harder game modes there present options for you to farm stuff you're after by simply having a toggle on and off button to stuff you want or don't want, i found all that amazing for farming stuff i was actually after, and change landscapes often, don't know if it would work on destiny but they could always try, or maybe me being a relatively new player, all this i said was just yapping to veteran players

I feel like Bungie should just make it so you can fully enhance randomly rolled versions of craftable weapons. That way, the "I want deterministic loot" crowd can still engage with weapon crafting the way they have been, and the "Crafting ruined the loot chase" crowd can just choose to not engage with crafting at all by grinding away until the 5/5 enhance-able god roll randomly drops for them.

That’s pretty real though. I remember getting a perfect forbearance during my caretaker farm, to get red borders of forbearance. But since the perfect roll wasn’t a deepsight it more or less didn’t mean much. Being able to enhance non crafted raid weapons would certainly make some of the grind less annoying.

Vault space wise , I wish the collections tab where all the items in the game are listed would also work as a storage place where I could safe 1 roll of each item, which I then could pull from collections when needed. Essentially what you can do with Exotics already, except it should safe the stats and perks I put into the item too. You would always have 1 set of everything ready to use. Then the Vault could remain for bonus copies of items that are worth having copies for with different builds.

AMAZING IDEA Cammy!!! Replacing intellect with class ability regen might just solve everything. THEN, people can stop spec'ing into supers in pvp and it can be the fix rate or removed from competitive modes. Beautiful

I just want them to buff Mobility to make combatants less accurate against you when moving And maybe Recovery reducing the duration of status effects inflicted by combatants ..And resilience gaining a knockback resistance

Instead of increasing vault space, just make dismantling good gear more incentivizing. Place quality ratings on the better perks and if a gun has an amazing “god roll” or similar, provide something in exchange. Flavor it like appraising and selling it to banshee lol.

I'd like to try get 200 grenade and melee stats. I'd use Explosive Finisher + Monte Carlo. On Solar I'd use Starfire Protocol, Phoenix Dive, Touch of Flame, and Searing with the above to do some crazy spam without Benevolence. Bet my existing Prismatic build would go a lot crazier with the new armour changes. I can't wait.

I will often challenge myself to get a certain number of kills on a weapon. For example, I completed 1000 kills on TLW a couple weeks ago, and am now aiming (pun intended) for 1000 on Final Warning. Not only does this help me appreciate the weapon, it gives me a goal to chase within a specific build. What if the foundries gave us rewards for promoting their weapons in this way? Like, every 100 kills with a Tex Mechanica weapon gives you a chance at an armor roll, or lets you select a piece for your set? Just spit balling here...

I think a good compromise would be a Buff/rework of the ghost mods that target a specific stat, to have 15 or more secured stat instead of always 10 with a chance at high spike. Or let us target 2 stats with mods/vendors so we don’t have to get lucky with high recov ghost mod, and pray for good discipline or strength

Towards your last point. I think we will be disappointed on that. The fact that they are (effectively) removing crafting for new gear tells me Bungie doesn't want people to play the game, just sink hours into the slot machine. The biggest red flag in that is that they have not even mentioned a way we will get this gear after it goes out of the game. Will we be able to get it afterwards by running the exotic mission over and over as our only source? Based on the precedent of those already in the game that sounds like that would suck. Does that mean that seasonal content going forward will act as a basis to improve base game activities? We have not heard a word of that. And the attempts they have made for doing so has been (IMO wrongly) been met with poor reception from the community (Battlegrounds, Gambit) Bungie has said that focusing gear would play a bigger role to get the weapon drops you want - but will that be enough when they are actively diversifying gear and making it more interesting that everything becomes desirable? Bungie is simultaneously making us care about loot again (Armor changes, new unique weapon frames) while making them all the more frustrating to get. Bungie is leaving way too many things open with their announcements on how loot acquisition will work, and based on previous precedent that hasn't been a good thing.

My biggest worry with the innovation of the 3.0 sandbox is something we've seen alot. Bungie tries a thing, and its not great on release, but has prromise. Players say they don't want to have to grind, weather its because you need lots of drops from every set, or because they don't wanna regrind 'new' gear. Or simply because they can't guarantee their optimized 10/10 build in a week Bungie serverly cuts back on the system to barely even matter (something like letting you change set bonuses on armor) which eventually gets complained about as well, before some worse compromise is met (Like the mod simplification in lightfall) 101-200 stat double charge sounds awesome in pve, and absolutely unplayable in pvp. Even without getting the charge, knowing theres a chance someone randomly has 2, engagement deciding abilities, means i can't know if they used it once, that i still wont be hit by it again. I really think this effect should just not take place in pvp, or, mandate that you must be over 150-160 in a stat to do so, so you can't fish for procs at low investment without greatly hurting the rest of your build. (If recov int and resil are removed as stats to avoid must picks though, this tradeoff might still not be enough) Finally, and ideal middle ground to combat vault space, would to be allowing us to lock stats on armor pieces we like, and reroll the rest, letting us inch closer and closer to optimized gear we already have. Make this expensive enough that it can't be spammed infinitely, but requires you to play the game with intent to do somewhat often. (Think 1 exotic shard per roll, with the option to spend 3 and keep the bare minimum total stats on your armor, letting it stay the same or rise till max)

I totally agree and have been saying the same: RNG is not progression, it's just casino slot machine. Any time i don't progress my character i feel like i'm wasting time and that feeling directly pushes me to play other games instead.

Answer to your question about diverse armor long term: perk diversity. I mean we chase weapons all the time. It’s their task to meet that challenge with armor going forward. I’d just like it to be retrograde when applicable; lord knows what will happen with eververse sets.

​@@Arctis326when has just getting another thing been actually easy in this game lmao, you can't even access like 80% of the weapon archetypes or variations because they're from removed content if you can't get x specific gun, so realistically that'll also happen with armour.

I'm also someone who seeks that perfect set to play more and get better at the game's technique, the grind and rng aren't the game for me. I remember when sunsetting happened, Luke Smith brought up his friend loving Breakneck, and saying they had to do it because he'll never want another weapon in that slot. That to me was such a huge indictment of how they felt about the base game, that it wasn't good enough to stand on its own and bring people back without the slot machine aspect. Focusing on deeper and more fun play mechanics and letting people identify with their preferred loadouts should always be the go-to fix there - though fine, keep shuffling the deck for the DPS goblins. (I'm still here after a decade, so I think the base gameplay totally stands on its own).

I can't wait for Armor 3.0... The new iteration of armor might actually be better than my Full set of Artifice Armor and it might Actually intrigue me to change my full set of Artifice Armor that i have been using since Grasp Of Avarice due to the fact that i have never had a piece of armor drop that has better stats than my current armor that i have been wearing for the last like 3 or 4 years lol i can't wait to change my armor..... If this armor coming is better.

Rng loot got old in D1. Deterministic loot has never killed my grind cause I'll just find another. Putting the time in for a guaranteed piece of loot with perks or stats I want or just crafting, is more worth my time than the layers of rng now.

The biggest pain point for me is how D2Armorpicker is basically required for any optimized build unless you want to spend an excessive amount of time.

@@Samsonfs i don't feel like it really will. the res gates will change for pvp, but i'm sure d2armorpicker will just change it to include those as the default slider. 66 res prevents a 2C1B with a 120 HC? everyone will just go from asking for 7 res to 66 res. it frees up more stats, which is great, but i think this will only further force us into optimization. which isn't a bad thing, i just wanted to point out that it will absolutely not be getting simpler

@@Samsonfs The real strength of that tool isn't that it optimizes your stat spread, but sorts through all your armors and tells you which ones to use so you don't have to spend hours trying to do it manually. The update will change absolutely nothing about this.

@@ForeverLaxx of course it will lmao, because you could now run a build with a complete mismatch of stats that isn't "wasting" any points by having 88 discipline, 37 mobility or whatever because now those random outliers will actually give you a benefit, I already don't use armour picker and neither does 99% of players, so being able to throw together builds without having to hit a multiple of 10 in any stat is objectively easier, plus the system is literally MONTHS away so we don't know how it will fully work.

Streamers all love this change for obvious reasons. Making Special ammo / heavy ammo a stat is not build crafting. This is a huge nerf to all of our current builds just for the sake of new light players. Which is copium new light players are not complaining about not understanding armor. New lights complain because the first half of D2 is vaulted and disconnected from where we are now. If you want player engagement make good content bring back the first half of D2, make it interesting for those who have already completed it. Don't just make us farm for the sake of farming which is what this feels like. Now lets all get back out there and re-farm all those god roll 69 artifice pieces, again, again, again as this is the fourth major armor change for D2.

The whole "easier for new players" cope never made sense to begin with. You can literally go in-game, hover over the stats on your character, and they tell you what they do. Why Bungie thinks this is the reason new players aren't "engaged" in their slot machine is bizarre.

My gripe has always and will likely forever be how I personally interact with the game and community makes it hard to meet people to run content regularly with. I call this the "modern MMO problem". If you aren't supplying a certain level of preparedness or "skill" people will leave. People want things to be easy. Finding people who are looking for that true experience where you learn things together is rare. Everyone just wants a guide and to get it done with, so they can "pull the lever" one more time.

Strafe speeds need a buff on mobility and ppl who run low mobile should be penalized

2:56 yes move class abilty to intellect that way hunters can have 2 stats that dont matter ie mobility which is strafe speed and then intelect as class abillity then do the same for warlock and titan. at this point dellet mobillity as a stat and just have resil recov intelect (as class abillity) discipline and strength( which will be called melle soon) make a five stat sytem. that way every class has to build into class abillitys rather than getting an addition bonus ie titan get dmg resist for tier 10 class abilty warlocks get recovery speeds for tier 10 class abillity and hunters strafe for tier 10 class abilty.

Woah I'm here early. I think Bungie needs to remove DR from resilience in the pvp sandbox because it ruined a lot of weapon archetypes and made people too reliant on that stat making gameplay stagnant due to boring builds centered around resilience. Also it took away from Hunters their main stat because of stat bucket BS making it impossible to get triple 100's in mobility, resilience, and recovery at the same time. Personally I run 100 mobility 50 resilience and then 100 recovery and discipline because 50 resilience is enough to survive Thorn. Also hello Cammy love your content and I'm glad I got to play with you in a game randomly last year BTW!

Resilience does not give DR in pvp. It increases the amount of health (your red bar after your shield breaks) you have. It ALWAYS has done that. Since vanilla D1, when it was called armor.

7:36 I've been saying for a long time that crafting isn't the problem, it's how Bungie implemented it that is. Some people react very poorly to that, Datto's chat probably a really bad place to bring that up.

I've farmed so much exotic armor and legendary armor to make 3x 100 stat builds. Between in-game loadouts and DiM I'm sitting around 20 builds. Right now i see no reason to farm any of the new armor. - Increase the stat cap to 200 and every point you put in benefits the stat, Great! Will you be raising the stat total for exotic and legendary armor?? Because if not there's not a good enough reason in my eyes to abandon the armor i currently have that's literally perfect for all of my builds. - They talked about Set bonuses but I'm willing to bet a million dollars that within a few weeks of the new episode they catch some heavy nerfs. Bungie has a pattern putting something into the game strong and then nerfing it into the ground to the point of it being unusable. Then 6-12 months they undo the nerf because usage has drastically fallen off. - This new system just seems like they want us to care more about armor like with artifice but it'll be a waste of time. Because the new armor will be overly convoluted and require and bunch ridiculous things to do so you can get the stats spreads you want/need. - There's a very high chance that the 200 stat bonuses will catch a hard nerf in pvp within the first month. There's no way players will be running around with extra charges of abilities in pvp and it wont be abused.

Admittedly, a lot of these issues can be changes/not be as big as we thought. These changes aren’t going to be online for almost a year. Things can change a lot in that time. Videos like this are important so feedback and change can happen before it gets to the live game. Hopefully devs are able to see this video and have the resources to hopefully address these concerns.

I've played since the release of Destiny 1 and I haven't played now in about two years. I quit because the game felt the same all the time. We get "new" content with "new" enemies and "new" rewards only to feel like I was playing a reskinned activity I've already played thousands of times against reskinned enemies I've killed 10s to 100s of thousands of and getting reskinned rewards. I just couldn't keep playing with the feeling of doing the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over ad infinitum. I keep hoping that will change though and I have a reason to return. Maybe this will change things enough?

I heard datto criticise crafting because when he has all raid weapons crafted, he doesnt play anymore.... man what, why do i as pvp player (who loves playing the game regardless of item drops) have to suffer throu a huge grind to get a pvp godroll for like matador, or darkest before, just because this guy wants to spend days replaying an activity he doesnt enjoy anymore. also i hope they remove sbmm :(

My main issue with all of this is that the (vocal) Destiny community is awful. Everyone wants all the loot and see the loot as the end goal. Bungie is deathly affraid of making something not available to everyone, just look at dual destiny. The recent nightfall weapon change where they cost cyphers making them *cheaper* for GM farmers too. There needs to be an endgame, there needs to be better weapons hidden behind harder challenges, *there needs to be actual difficulty scaling*. Armor 3.0 could be the start, with for example armor traits only available in master raids or when completing a master dungeon solo, maybe a solo GM armor trait, which all do *unique* stuff and provide buildcrafting options. Imagine radical endgame perks like flawless a raid to drop an armor that outright disables your melee and doubles grenade regen or something.

I just play the game with the best i can get. Other than that i move on, i used to farm for better stats on armor & weapons. The past few year's it's been a drop off from me!

Can we also talk about how the art team for armor keeps dropping the ball so badly with titans and the other 2 from time to time. Is it so hard to not look like a dork Could have given us the d1 title armor. No They gave us trash for 10th And then now iron banner once again has trash. At least hunters are as mostly always Eating good because 97% of the dev team is hunters

As someone who only plays pvp when theres loot i want and hates every second of it. They need to seperate the sandboxes completely. Im so tired of pve being neutered because pvp wants to pretend to be an esports platform.
