I think one of the main things Destiny needs, when talking about bringing back mystery, is bringing back the dark/gloomy colors like back in D1. Since D2’s launch, we have had these extra bright/vibrant colors that have been poured everywhere in the UI/UX, destinations, etc. Bringing that back imo would feel more like Destiny and bring back a lot of mystery in itself.

Another point that desperately needs addressed is that a lot of the armor and weapons we’ve been getting are also a major departure from the style we had in d1 they really should return to using that instead of cyberpunk Fortnite garbage To clarify what i mean is that destiny 1 was unform and had a set Tone/Atmosphere/ Art style that was mostly but not completely abandoned at launch of vanilla d2. A time later it was brought back with Curse Of Osiris, Warmind, and Forsaken. Yet again that Uniformity was abandoned for Collaboration Cosmetics/seasonal cosmetics and an art style that looks absolutely nothing like the one that was previously set. While I DO greatly appreciate the Diversity. overdoing it in all the WRONG areas for the sake of Diversity is NOT something i can appreciate. ( EX: a pointless Lump or Horn on an otherwise cool looking Helmet or a hole in a Cape that doesn't make sense or most d2 Warlock Armor :sorry, not sorry Warlocks) EDIT: It is late and I'm an idiot who graduated Highschool a few years ago so my writing and typing skills are trash and i needed to fix a bunch of errors so this is at least somewhat readable.

Off the bat, I want to say I appreciate your optimism! Seeing the state of player's opinions on the game (both ongoing and retired) has been... draining, to put it lightly. I was a day one, D1 player and enjoyed it so much. Did the raids, was very into the pvp etc. D2 came along and I fell off after Forsaken. It wasn't against the game itself, rather moving and getting a new job, then never really getting the will to return after missing enough content. I logged on every now and then but would get overwhelmed by the changes and leave. I could only imagine how new players felt starting this game up for the first time. I did watch this last stream, and while I don't know about the entirety of D2, I'm excited for the content. it feels... simpler, to return to? Seeing the festival of the lost set, the Scorn, it reminds me of the days I last played. And that itself is welcoming and reminiscent enough for me to return.

I think my main point of contention on all of it is that it feels very PR and marketing talk. Which I get and understand why it is that. I also know Apollo is quite a bit out. But I'd rather get more specific ideas of what they're talking about rather than just being told the vibes it will give and vagueness. I feel like I'm left with more questions than anything. For example, I am a massive Metroudvania fan. So what specifically are they trying to go for with that terminology? It seems like the idea is the concept of being able to do a few objectives in an area, but you're locked in that area until you do a specific thing to be able to overcome that lock. Like unlocking a power. But in the context of Destiny, that doesn't sound very Metroidvania, that sounds like "to unlock story mission D and E, you must complete story mission A, B, and C first. But you can do those in any order." Which yea sounds a little more like vanilla D1. Are they trying to actually invoke more from the Metroidvania genre? If so, what else? Idk it's a real any 3D action melee game being a "souls-like" just because it has like 1 or 2 elements from the souls games situation. Does it being Rise of Iron sized mean very literally. Like 5 story missions, 2 strikes, and a raid? How are they going to change the seasonal story formula? Will it just be voice lines in missions and stuff? Or are they trying something we've never seen before?

For the 2 pieces of concept art I think the first one might be the Pacifist Guardian/Human colony that Efrideet is a member of. Now that the Witness has been defeated and the chances of a second Collapse happening very small there's likely less of a reason to keep it hidden in the occupants eyes and it would make sense to have any other survivors rejoin the rest of humanity. As for the second one, I don't think this is the same location as the first, but beyond that I have absolutely no idea where it could actually be.

Saw the Dev video with Egregore on EDZ Widows Court Onslaught, I was like "oh...that's not a good thing" vs. dealing with Pyramid tech. The lore of Egregore feeds off of anything with death, but also because it takes over whatever organic environment it's introduced into by default. And then saw it on Europa on Datto's channel, it made less sense for Egregore due to the environment, but then I was like maybe it's able to keep active due to the heat sources in Eventide Ruins. We kept calling Nessus a planet this season...so IDK what is considered a planet anymore in Destiny. The planet hopefully is not Eris for Apollo, for the fact Eris's report would have stated there were human ship remains; let alone that she and Mara Sov both would be able to sense people there. The crashed ships with what appear to be some sort of atmospheric scrubbers for terraforming look semi-Bray Tech, seems more like a series of unnamed ("not on the books" so to speak) colony ship(s) that was launched out of system before any of the Collapse. Like Clovis Bray had a ship(s) sent out to start a colony as for the purpose of resupply other colony ships for further system jumping in addition to Rasputin's direction. (Say late Golden Age, maybe before Rasputin was active overseer of system activity, still unsure if SIVA as built before or after Rasputin active...) It crashed due to whatever, main crew died, backup activated started terraforming, surface not habitable, underground is, but hostile life on planet or whatever. Lost contact with Sol due to Collapse happening, so whatever ships that would have followed up were stopped due to the Darkness coming (see what happened with Soteria), killed communications out of system by Rasputin, with some final signal burst that says Sol is basically lost, cut all contact, DARK FOREST type thing. Survive. For some reason SIVA(if they had it) deactivated due to whatever reason (maybe the Ship AI had some system crash that would take years to fix, or a Rasputin kill command to keep from drawing attention to the colony through SIVA activity during the Collapse) for the survivors, some event happens resulting in loss of knowledge from Golden Age. Total societal collapse into old religious type worship of the engine/ship. No Surface Exploration, the ship bottom and stuff only exposure to surface. It's basically the Ship AI reactivated and realized would have to slowly educate the population. Only thing that throws me off is the fact of what appears to be a drained sea with the boat...a boat that is too "old tech" to have been built by space faring (ignoring the boats from Titan in game because that was just super lazy art direction) vs. even older style of a tech/resource limited human population that Apollo art shows.

My thoughts on Frontiers: The narrative directors “secret door that was always there” strikes me like we’ll get inside the underpinnings of the system with someone we’ve already seen; this makes me think of the Nine and the underpinnings of the system, they’re history, and the struggle between the 5 and the 4. Maybe we won’t leave the solar system in frontiers but once we “figure out” how the Sol system works, we’ll be exposed to the idea of the Gardener and the Winnower and that will lead to us leaving the system. As for the picture with the worship scene showing a rocket, it really looks like the background of the Cosmodrome, any chance we could be going to our past or a time skip into the future where we’re restarting the Exodus program and now some new factions are “blessing” the new ships on their way out of the system?

In that segment there's a boss with a name that's something like "BOSS, THE ETHER FILLED" it wasn't exactly that, but similar. Anyway, I believe the Eliksni are being kept as a food source, like a vampire would keep live humans to feed on when needed. We know what Ether means to the Eliksni, especially those that believe in the old faith; it's their life-blood - their soul. What happens when Scorn consume ether straight from the tap? Not from a servitor, but from a living and breathing Eliksni. Ether that has essentially become a soul. The scorn were never mindless zombies, they were always vampires. The signs were always there, but we never actually noticed it until now.

I think a major driving thing for me is that throughout Destiny's lifespan there was an ultimate enemy being built toward: The "Darkness"/The Black Fleet/The Witness. A big bad that was slowly crawling toward us with each year and that would be the ultimate foe we faced. To BUNGIE's credit I think they nailed that with The Witness. Not only that, we stopped it from remaking the universe inside of the very being that originally gave us our Ghost and our powers. It is here we also harmonized Light and Darkness, reuniting the fundamental paracasual forces of reality. While I am still bummed The Final Shape didn’t answer major questions I had about the truth of The Traveler, The Veil, and the Collapse...it was still overall a great expansion to end the decade long saga. I bring this up because after The Final Shape, all the other threats and mysteries in Destiny just...don't feel as compelling or threatening. Our Guardians saved the universe. We mastered the very forces that created and underpin that universe. The Big Bad is gone. Everything else feels like more or less like clean-up. My Guardians journey feels complete. So I am hoping Frontiers gives a brand new impetus. Not just expanding and exploring but a tangible issue. Is the Valence becoming an issue that threatens the universe? Will it require gathering the Echoes to stop? Will The Traveler and The Veil ultimately need to be reunited? Heck, at this point I feel liks it may have been a better option to go with a Destiny 3 and start fresh. Especially with what we learned about the armor systems.

I'm a little concerned about the "non-linear" story. That sounds good on paper but that means they have to write interactions with the caveat that some players won't have seen certain other things. Star Wars Outlaws suffers from this. All the character interactions are generic to avoid confusion so there's not as much character development. The good interactions don't happen until the third act when the devs are sure you've seen all the important stuff. I think books, TV, movies, etc are mostly linear stories because that's how stories make sense.

The flags in the concept art seems to be slightly similar to the Icarus Drifter Cloak. They have slightly different colors and they both like circles. Maybe nothing, but that might give a clue or two~

Personally, I'm excited. As a huge lore fan, the story of Echos had potential but was a solid miss. The love stories were dull, overdone, and retconned arguably one of the best seasonal stories Bungie has ever done, season of Dawn. Revanent however looks cool. From the spooky/dark theme, fan-favorite characters like Fikrul, Crow, Mithrax returning, great gameplay choices such as a new onslaught mode and no craftable weapons, the new dungeon, and etc. Revanent is giving me Season of the Splicer vibes in terms of potential and I think everyone can agree that Season of the Splicer was one of the best seasons if not the best we have ever had in terms of story. I think Tyson and the crew have really cooked for this one.

I hope in the future they address what happened with Mercury and IO. And why the witness wanted the places. Like Mars had the Spire and Titan had Ahsa. IO because of the tree of silver wings but why did the witness want the infinite garden? and where did those planets now go? Like going to new places and solar systems is cool and all but our solar system is still missing 2 planets and we don't know where they are

I'm really excited for the future of the game and the new places we'll go. I do hope at some point we get to explore more of earth like Old Chicago or even the Mumbai Push
@ryancameron4170Ай бұрын
Fundament, Torobatl, Lubrae, maybe even the Awoken Distributary would be others I want to see explored also. But I do agree more of Earth should have been featured.
@elliotlilly3835Ай бұрын
@ryancameron4170 there's just so many places that we could go both in the Sol system and out. Pluto, Enceledus, Ceres, Eris, Riis, id even like to visit Phobos more honestly
@ryancameron4170Ай бұрын
@@elliotlilly3835 Exactly, I also recall that 'Icy' planet Drifter's crew had got stranded on and where there were these 'shadow' creatures that were light suppressing. Speaking of mysteries, there's still the Aphelion's and as I recall from Season of the Wish lore, possibly seven surviving Ahamkara, and the fate of Taox (and perhaps any other proto-hive if there were any that escaped with her). So I'm still excited to see what will come in Destiny's future and hope it sees at least another decade of support if not more!

I think that Destiny would benefit from storytelling through the world. I would like our journey as a guardian to feel more impactful. I would like changes in NPC dialogue, changes to enemy density on planets after story events or dynamic stuff like that. Frontiers has the chance to make Destiny feel more alive. Right now the game world feels static despite the fact time passes.

I think it could be the factions and where they went possibly, frontiers sounds like reconnecting with thoes groups or perhaps the awoken, maybe a splinter cell of them anyway.

I wonder if the planet is part of the Kepler planets, like Kepler-22 or something. It is a super-Earth, and I imagine such a planet might prove to be a perfect hub for all things “Metroidvania.”

We wont know how Revenant is till it comes out. But considering how reactionary they were about getting rid of the time-gating for Revenant missions (they shouldn't have designed around that time-gating in the first place) and the abysmal quality of Episode: Echoes (it was literally just a Season with extra time-gating), I dont think we can trust anything they say about scope or quality. They hyped up episodes SO MUCH (as much as they're now doing to Frontiers) so i bought the annual pass. Just for them to make us play one Exotic mission for the last three weeks of "story". Now there are rumors that Into the Light was meant to be the 10th Year Anniversary Event for Destiny, but was moved up 5 MONTHS just to generate hype for Final Shape in the wake of layoffs. And now EVERYTHING made moving forward will have: LESS people making LESS stuff with LESS MONEY than ever before and LESS PEOPLE playing the game than ever before. I literally can't think of any reason to trust anything Bungie says anymore. They lied about quality and scope for 18 of the last 21 MONTHS of content, why wouldn't they do so when they are more desperate for money than ever before?

I'm gonna say it here and now. Egregore is going to be retcon for the Scorn instead. It's like an eggshell with plasma or goo that hashes them out of it with dark energy. Since when the egregore is involved it's always the Scorn who are around the corner.

I just want E3 destiny. I was promised an MMO shooter and was given an arena shooter cloaked with MMO whispers. I just want the MMO feel with guns, which I’ve never gotten with destiny, which was the thing that got me excited for destiny in the first place.

I wonder if the energy being depicted in the concepts arts are possibly the last darkness subclass.
@ryancameron4170Ай бұрын
Maybe, we have definitely had some others hints towards a 'Red' subclass / Nightmare related. From the recent mission in Final Shape that saw us returning to the Lunar Pyramid and the dialogue within that, and this one could be a bit of a stretch but this episode saw us collecting radiolite and placing it in the helm. There was a different coloured sample which could be said to represent the three light subclasses, prismatic, and currently two darkness.
