Nice video, sir. Just finished putting mine together. I will likely replicate your process as it makes total sense. Thanks!

Thanks David…. I love my Camp Chef! They are really versatile & easy to get the hang of. Just remember that you don’t need to turn the burners on full blast to get it hot. I keep mine either at low or somewhere between low & medium. A little heat goes on a long way.

Nice video, Mr. Robinson. We have put our trailer at a campsite for the upcoming camp season for the first time. Our trailer does not have an outdoor kitchen, so I'm effectively building my own. I'm good with a grill (a Weber kettle), I'm good with a smoker (a Weber Smokey Mountain). I've never used a flat top griddle before, but have had my eye on this Camp Chef model for a while. Family of 5, plus visitors through out the season.

Thanks Steve! Flattops are extremely versatile. If you buy Camp Chef’s, remember that the burners don’t need to be turned all the way up & you can use them to setup 2 or 3 or even 4 cooking zones with different temperatures! Once you get the hang of it, you will love it!

The little dots are the dissipation heat panel welded points. I get them on mine and from the other videos I've seen on youtube it's common. As far the uneven heat you're getting it's more than likely resulting in the wind interfering or some other element. If you can find a way to block air intake and output points from open wind and air it should help even out the flow. Also it looks like you're about 5 degrees off on the two right zones. I'm left handed and I don't want my hand over the hot zone to I lean toward the right side for hot zone and left zone. Also the update rate on your IR temp sensor is higher than every 3 or 5 seconds when you check it. Hold the trigger down. :) Also if you're in a bind a 36" Blackstone clip cover will work. I had one on mine for a year before I got a flip top. Need to find someone with a 36" to give my old top to so they can get some use out of it.

I have the regular campchef cover qnd it works great, but it is a hassle to take on and off. Does your aluminum cover prevent rust?
@BackyardSmokeMasterBBQ4 жыл бұрын
I have not had issues with rust. In addition to the aluminum cover, I also found a 3rd party cover on Amazon that I use to cover the entire cooker. The name of the company escapes but they make covers for outdoor furniture & grills.

Do you leave yours outside completely exposed to the elements? I ordered the 900 with both the canvas cover and stainless top. It’s humid here in the south it gets humid. I don’t have a covered porch. So, it would be perfect if the stainless lid did a good job of that and hopefully the rest of the cooler(legs) don’t start to corrode easily
@BackyardSmokeMasterBBQ3 жыл бұрын
No, I ordered a stainless top on Etsy and a cover (not the one by Camp Chef) on Amazon. I can’t remember the name of the cover maker but it’s a very good cover.

The circles are heat dispensers on the bottom of the griddle. Best food made is on a Camp Chef griddle. :-) I love mine!

Maybe turn the griddle up to high then check the temps?
@scotthopkins77114 жыл бұрын
This not recommended as you can warp the top. Camp Chef recommends med to low at all times. High setting is for when your cooking on the grills below the griddle too.

Don’t they come seasoned already ?

Yes, the Camp Chef flattop comes pre-seasoned but I recommend seasoning it again yourself to help burn off anything left behind from packing, shipping, etc.

@@BackyardSmokeMasterBBQ Isn't that what the initial cleaning with warm, soapy water is for?
@BackyardSmokeMasterBBQ5 жыл бұрын
I’m not saying that you have to season it. If nothing else, seasoning it gives you an opportunity to learn how it cooks before putting food on it. I say do what makes the most sense to you.

@@BackyardSmokeMasterBBQ Great video. Another place you can get a cover like the one you have is Backyardlifegear.com. Theirs is a little more expensive than the one you have unless you can get one of their factory seconds. The ones that they sell have hooks on the underside so you can hang it on the back of the griddle and it acts as a wind guard. It looks like the one have also has these hooks but I couldn't really tell. Only reason I bring this up is because they have quite a few accessories for these griddles.

Can you answer a question no one ever asks or suggests. When you say open your gas tank, how much do you open it to? One full turn, 2-3 full turns or all the way till you can’t turn anymore? Like for your regular use, how much should a propane tank should open?
@BackyardSmokeMasterBBQ5 жыл бұрын
I haven’t thought much about it, but I’m pretty sure that I open mine about a half turn. I think the key is to allow a few seconds for the gas to bleed through the line before igniting one of the burners. I always start with the igniter farthest away from the tank (I don’t have a reason for doing it this way, it’s just a habit) & I turn the ignition knob slowly. I can always hear the gas running before the flame ignites. I figure that as long as it ignites, then I’ve opened the tank wide enough. If it won’t ignite, then either the tank isn’t open enough or the tank is empty. Someone else may have the exact answer but I’m pretty sure that you don’t need to open the tank more than 1 full turn.
