A day in the woods is always a great day, but when you can share it with your dad, it makes it remarkable. Memories will forever be etched into stone of these days, rather then a normal outing. Cherish this bro, I know I always have.

Hey guys from The Rocky Mountains in Idaho USA. I don't get to watch a lot of KZbin vids, but I am really hooked on yours, great video content, great personality and straight forward bush talk. Got to say this is the first one I saw your dad in, He is WOUNDERFUL, funny guy and you two on camera really come off great. you can tell their is a deep bond their. As for cooking on fire, I use pine cause that's about all we have, steak, bacon or hamburger just a little salt and pepper is all I use normally. I agree it always taste great, I think its something about how hot it gets it caramelizes the meat for YUM. I live on a small ranch and gave up my BBQ a long time ago, just got a fire pit with grate. OH and I almost always carry a grate with me in the woods for cooking, water, or hang it high to dry clothes. again GREAT video. Loved it! Happy new year and hope ya had a great christmas

Great to see your dad with ya. I wish my dad's health was better so he could get out with me. But my older and I may be doing a bit of camping together later this year. As we live in Michigan here in the states its covered in snow this time of year. Tell dad we have the Dollar Store, Dollar General, and Dollar Tree here. They are all about the same thing give or take. That's a really cool knife your friend put together. Keep up the good work!

I recall reading a book written in the 50s regarding cooking etc. The author maintained that when making tea the water had to be boiling (this is why traditionally the tea pot was warmed first), he suggested that the way the Australians made tea in a billy was best. What they apparently did was bring the water to the boil and then without removing it from the fire, sprinkle tea leaves onto the boiling water. The object was to scald the tea leaves which made for a better tasting brew and also would result in the tea leaves sinking to the bottom of the boiling water. I have also read elsewhere that tea should be brewed for 5 minuites and that loose tea makes a better brew as the tea is less confined.

Awesome looking burgers ! I hope that wire basket wasn`t galvanized, that wood make it toxic. Don`t forget, pine sap is great for getting a fire going in any weather. Thank You for sharing your video. I Hope you both have a Safe & Happy New Year. ATB 2017

Try adding maple smoked bacon , pepper jack cheese and "Dales" sauce. It's amazing over a camp fire on burgers. Also the stores in America are called Dollar Tree and Dollar General . I'm in Georgia in the SE of the USA , we have both here. I can't wait to make the salt n pepper holder. That's genius.

Pro tip, nick a basket from tesco, cut a few inches off the top, cook on there. Make your burgers at home from lean beef put a few little bits of cheese in your burger when you're moulding it. Freeze overnight then take out with you the next day. Bring along with your burger buns and BROWN SAUCE. Only yanks use ketchup. Cook up, and chow down

An easy tip prep for the patties is to press the center of each with your thumb before cooking, about half the depth of the patty. It will keep the patties from plumbing.....keeps them flat so it's easier to add toppings and to eat.

Looks like a regular old puffball mushroom there, they are edible and quite nice to eat when fresh but the entire flesh of the mushroom needs to be solid and white, by this time of year the flesh has disintegrated and is full of spores ready to be spread when the outer-shell of the fruiting body disintegrates. good work with the new channel by the way, loving the videos :)

I love your dad's plain spoken style. That's a lot like me. Just says it like it is. I like that he'd rather drink regular tea instead of pine needles and has sugar and milk, pretty much because we don't live in the 15th century anymore. I also like that he brought and cooks on a grill. Nobody likes eating ash on their food. I also like how he mentions that England OCCASIONALLY has warm weather days, not much but it does happen. lol Oh, tell your dad we call them "Dollar Stores" here in America.

I get a nice 6 ounce burger from my local butcher shop, cook it to medium rare, put a nice slab of cheese on it, any kind will do. 4 strips of Canadian bacon, the usual ketchup, a little steak sauce, and just a tiny bit of maple syrup rubbed on the buns while there being toasted. Best burger ever

save you're crampballs this time of year by once its taken a spark cut off the bit that's lit plus some to burn then save the rest, you only need to use a quarter if you're tinders dry enough, great vid guys. also for you're fire, try and nick a supermarket shopping basket (metal of course) they are just right ;)

My kind of bushcraft. It shows that there's no need to eat tree bark whenever you go primitive. I like what you refer to as bacon - it looks like slices of pork loin with the tenderloin still attached to me.
