This looks amazing! So you're saying you have to ship your existing canvas to the company making the replacement canvas - versus this being some sort of warranty replacement. Anybody ever remove the canvas and just make that back panel a window? Meaning the externior panel that folds up is just a frame for a window - no more bed. For those RVs that have that fold out back canvas bed. Not a pop up like this one.
@GoMidwestFishing Жыл бұрын
Yes, you have to ship your old canvas in, but only if they don't have the exact template for your camper. If you want to ensure you get the right sized canvas, I would suggest sending it in. This was not a warranty replacement. I got this camper off facebook marketplace, and it had a lot of water damage from a leaking roof.

There is a fabric shop near me that will make a new tent end for your pop up trailer. He requires the whole piece so he can fabricate a new one. One bunk end cost me $500. I went with Bear Creek for my 1989 Coleman Chesapeake that I bought for 500.00. I got lucky that I didn't have to send the old canvas in. While I don't have a camper I've got canvas on the big boat and once a year I use a light combo of Dawn and Bleach as a clean up and once dry I Armorall the entire top and compartment covers and this does a great job of waterproofing and removing stains. For such a lot of Canvas they did an excellent job....I also carry a bag of buttons and I keep those lubricated with T-9 Boeshield.....It's a Boeing Product designed to stick and lubricate joined metal surfaces on Planes....Sea Ya!!
@GoMidwestFishing4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the input. They were really pushing not using chemicals on the canvas. Only water to clean it, otherwise it deteriorates the natural waterproofing. I have heard people say they use dawn and bleach too. I guess if its working for you, then keep doing it.

Looked at a 90 Chesapeake, today. Canvas is quite spotty with mold looks like its been years since was opened. Only $100 for the camper, but also needs tires, theres a spot where roof looks a little damped down. Cupboards have the fake wood stickers pealing-off.. likely needs where bearings.. I do not wish to do all this work or pay to.

I don't know a whole lot about fabric, but it felt pretty good to me. The canvas seemed heavy duty and well stitched. If you have your own sewing machine, that's awesome. No need to pay for someone else to do it for you. I can barely sew a button on, so I was happy with the results.
