CAMPER TOUR | Military Surplus M105 Trailer Converted into the Ultimate Off Road Overland Camper

O'Neill and Victoria purchased a 1987 Military M105a2 trailer they purchased from a government auction site. Their intentions were to convert it into a DIY overland camper for their family of four and their dog Turtle. There were many mortification they needed to do to the trailer running gear like replacing the 7-way, axle, rims and tires. He also installed a new manual jack in the front and undercoated the chassis. Inside the rear entry travel trailer, there is a small kitchen in the rear, lots of storage for food and clothes and a large convertible sofa lounge bed with two upper bunks on pulleys. There is also solar panels in the roof and a good battery bank with an on board inverter system. There is an outside shower and lots of cool storage with converted jerry cans and many other repurposed salvaged items. The pop up roof is operated by four linear actuators.

Make sure you apply some cedar oil to your wood. Smells good and protects the wood (also repels bugs)

Wow. Wow and WOW. You just don't get to see awesome pieces of engineering like this anymore. Everything is cookie cutter white with lightning bolt in gray and blue with 3 to 15 slides. But this is freaking amazing. My jaw dropped when the roof went up and he put those wooden inserts in there and then dropped the top back down to hold the inserts in place. I would have NEVER EVER expected that to happen. Truly incredible build.

Wow! I just love the vision with this trailer. Great investment! This is thinking outside the box. And that’s what makes tiny living come to life. And gives it a unique style. Just look what you can do with Craigslist finds and repurposed materials. The gas can toolbox is something he could make and sell. I could see a lot of people wanting one. This is just very impressive! I love the propane on demand heaters. But do not leave them out in the winter. Our first one we learned a big lesson. A hose froze from water left inside. So just a heads up. We hate that we lost our first one. Luckily we were able to find a deal on another one. When building out any tiny home thrifting is part of the process. And keeping cost down is part of the beauty of owning a tiny home. All the thrifted eliminates just make it so special. And they have thought of everything with this home. The shower is super nice! I can’t wait to show my husband this build. He is an electrician and a thrifter as well. It’s so cool how this home owner has done the electrical. And how interesting all the materials he found. Everything in our shed cabin was thrifted or found. This couple should be very proud of their home. Thank you so much for keeping these materials out of the landfill. And encouraging others by showing what you can do with less money. They did a great job! Really appreciate you sharing your travel trailer home. It’s really nice! Leslye

Someone else may have already said this but those “ice” containers are called mermite cans and are great for hot food as well. They sell (three each) drop in containers with lids too. Great food storage! Nice add on for sure✌🏼😉
