Hey, nice video, thanks! We are headed to this park for December and January (we may see how December goes and then decide if we will keep our January reservation). We will be in the first C row, facing the research facility, hope that's a good spot - it was the last one left and appears to be in one of the more spacious rows. Looking forward to exploring SPI - hope it's warm enough in the winter for some nice beach walks!

there's a reason for the paperwork, its lots, but all legal stuff, no noise, no loose pets, you'd be surprised some people wanna be the noisy crowd, but isla blanca wants to keep all happy, i love it the last 10 years i rented there, no complaints, once you get used to going to office first, then its a breeze,

This is where I want to watch my first Strarship launch. I hope you do not need an RV to spend the day there?

You can enter the park without an RV. They do charge for vehicles but if you walk in, it’s free.

Alright, so we happened to be watching some other campground reviews this evening and they weren't very good. I found myself saying "I really wish Home Meets Road had made some reviews for these..." Seriously, you've set the bar now for campground reviews!
@HomeMeetsRoad3 жыл бұрын
Wow! Thank you! I wish I had started earlier. We were on the road for a year before I began to record specifically for campground reviews. I felt that I needed to learn what’s important and what’s not before making them. More coming soon! Thanks!

@@HomeMeetsRoad "I wish I had started earlier" is a pretty common phrase... We sure wish we'd started recording our adventures sooner! Seriously though, keep up the good work!

At least you are recording now! I remember you talked about it in Florida last year. It feels a lifetime ago… when things were ‘normal’. Hopefully we will cross paths soon! Thanks!

Texas is MASSIVE!!! You can go from Houston to Disney World in Florida, in the same time it would take you to get from South Padre Island to El Paso… let that sink in 🤯

I understand there's a lot of blowing sand in campground did you have any problems with it affecting the paint finish of your RV?
@HomeMeetsRoad10 ай бұрын
We had no issues. If you are staying for a month or longer, I do recommend doing some sort of rust proofing. The guys who come through and wash RV’s usually have a frame treatment special.

Do you know where the tent camping area is at this park? I see a lot of RV spaces but, online reservations says you can rent tent spaces but, I can’t find a good video or map online anywhere that shows it well.
@HomeMeetsRoad2 жыл бұрын
When I made this video (spring of 2021), I had no idea they had tent camping. It was closed. I found it this year only by sheer accident. It’s a crappy location. Go to 3:48 in the video and pause it. Do you see the 1? Next to the one is a gravel parking area with a dirt bypass into the park. That grass area to the right is the tent area. At 1:55 you can see a flag in the bottom left corner. Under that it says oversized vehicle gate. That’s the dirt bypass. Under that you see a tent symbol. Yea, it’s crappy.

We just came back from a 4 night stay here and it seems a lot has changed in 3 years from when this was filmed. Although the beach and boardwalk are still beautiful as can be appreciated in this video, the RV sites seem to have become overrun with long-term guests that have now set up and taken over the place. The RV area is taken up by old, run-down RVs with uncaring "residents" that treat the place as their own personal junk yard. There's nothing worse than being packed like sardines in narrow spaces between campers on either side of you with their stuff sprawled all over the place without any regard or respect for the fact that someone has now arrived to occupy the space they had been using as their own all along. I would not recommend this place nor will I ever return.

That’s interesting, as every time we were there, the space community has done cleanups regularly. They were some of the most advocated folk for keeping the beaches clean.
