We take the term rest stop literally, and camp out amongst the big rigs.
I'm excited to announce that Ali and I are riding across the USA! We're riding Trek's new gravel bikes, the Checkpoint, and the goal is to take the road less traveled in search of great people and inspiring stories. Besides profiling the wonderful people along the way, we'll be asking everyone for LOVE advice. Our route will take us from Oregon to New York and WE WANT YOU to help out. If you have any ideas of places to visit, friends to meet, or burritos to eat, find us on social media and point us in the right direction.

While it was weird, seeing what has become of the rest of the town was heart breaking. So much of small town America in the western half of the country is dying. I am glad that it is still alive in the eastern half.

This whole series is like the greatest movie/TV show. It's got all the ingredients - jaw dropping scenery, great music and photography, and two happy and interesting people to spin the tale. I cannot believe you created something so relaxing and watchable, yet monumental. Living vicariously was never so much fun.

Ryan and Ali: I'm lovin' and sharing your trip with others! The drone footage is always a big plus to share the perspective of the surroundings of your trip. I know it takes so much effort to manage the vlogging and scenery documentation, but as you know, they have big dividends for everyone watching! I learned about sprinklers and parks when I backpacked and hitchhiked across the USA... they are misery makers! Seek high and dry instead! 7:30 cool older gentleman! "If it is to be, it is up to me!"Great words to live by and easy to remember! 5x2+5x2=20 12:30 Beet greens yummy and healthy! Nice to meet someone in the boonies that knows good food!

I was wondering when Ryan and Ali were going to pop up, and there you are in Shoshoni! I have never driven right through, I always have to stop and get the cameras out. But now the House of Wonder and the Cartoon Theater, too much. I keep thinking about gravel touring north into Montana, but maybe coming down south, through the Bighorns and into Shoshoni, then the Red Desert and into Western Colorado is a better idea in 2019. I was a AZ child and irrigation ditches were our swimming holes.

Hi Ryan, great channel, I am thoroughly impressed with your great content. I'm sorry to hear about the idling commmercial vehicle throughout the entire night indubitably impacting your quality of sleep. Yes, in hot country rest stops that have green grass you can be sure that sprinklers (not these little sprayers) but full on rotating oscillating powerful yard shooters will come on in the middle of the night. They will hit you while you are sleeping in the table/bench/covered area. It was 93° at midnight so even though it "rained inside my sleepingbag", my bag was dry by morning, but it was a lesson learned to not camp by green grass in hot areas.

Just want to say i started. Watching these videos now presumably a little after your trip. They are inspiring... i started cycling about the time you both started your journey and doing my first 20miles i was like crap!!! How do people do this?? Can I ?? I must say now i ride 60miles this year (2019) when winter breaks i do plan on making my first century and would like to do an overnight bike packing trip. So thanks!!

Oh the sprinklers bring back night mares of our bike trip . The local police let us stay in the city Park and at 3am our campsite that was on on the pavilion got hit with 3 water cannons of sprinklers .;] Bob and I jumped out of our tents and had to man handle the sprinklers till the timers went off . The local Sheriff came by gave us towels and blowers to dry off and then loaded us up and gave us A ride to the next town . He made us Honorary Deputy's and gave us Badges Thank you for the drone footage will incorporate one when we return in may 20 19 google Bob Quicks Journeys . Why do you not have A stove? the menu is endless

Ryan and Ali. Hope all is well! I am a routine viewer, dating back to many of Ryan’s prior treks. Can you share the diet choice (seemingly) built around beans? Is it more scientific than just convenience? I am curious about bloating and potential discomfort while riding? Thanks!
@duzer
@duzer 6 жыл бұрын
CONAN-FA18 first of all, we love beans. Second, they’re easy to travel with and put on tortillas. Third, no bloating problems, maybe because I have a lifetime of eating them. I’m glad that I never get sick of them...and lots of good protein. Hope that answers it.
