This is a little 6 week recap of our cross country bike adventure.
I'm excited to announce that Ali and I are riding across the USA! We're riding Trek's new gravel bikes, the Checkpoint, and the goal is to take the road less traveled in search of great people and inspiring stories. Besides profiling the wonderful people along the way, we'll be asking everyone for LOVE advice. Our route will take us from Oregon to New York and WE WANT YOU to help out. If you have any ideas of places to visit, friends to meet, or burritos to eat, find us on social media and point us in the right direction.

As much as I've been enjoying this series, I completely understand and support your decision, even if it means no more videos until the trip is over. What you two are doing is so inspiring to me, I hope you get to spend more time inspiring each other off the bikes while refraining from staring at a computer screen. Much love!

If you guys have a camping stove burner, Knorr food packets (they cook in about 7 minutes) have a fairly large variety types of quick cooking meals in a packet to eat. Find a Walmart or major grocery store and they should have them and they are only about a $1.00 per packet of food. Happy across America mission ride.

A relationship without arguments is like biking without your legs burning. You need to be able to sense your limits and the accomplishment is twice as nice if it took work to get there. Good job guys hang in there it will be worth it.

Thank you, Ryan and Ali, for making and posting the videos as you journey across the country on your bicycles. I am impressed with your ability to capture, edit and post your experiences. In 2016 & 2017 I cycled across the country and remember the challenge of updating my daily blog. This is your journey. Take care of yourself first and enjoy the memories you are making together.

Ali + Ryan. I really appreciate your openness and transparency about what you are going through with each other. It seems like you are each learning a new language through total immersion in the others life. However it’s 24/7 life. Ryan is learning the language of Ali and Ali is learning the language of Ryan. As I am listening to this episode #13, I think. I am speaking for myself, but I am totally ok with you posting videos when the trip is over. It is definitely more important to spend real honest off the bike time together than editing videos for the rest of us. Remember, Love is a willingness to be inconvenienced.

Good decision on spending more 'quality ' time with Ali and not spending so much time in front of the computer . . . beautiful segment in Wyoming, which sounds like it was difficult behind the scenes. This 'documentary' has been beautiful with amazing stories, but now getting more challenging in your relationship. Thank you so much for your vulnerability and honesty about your adventurous relationship in the public eye. I love watching your videos!!

No need for "sorrys," but thank you for the understandable, frank explanation. As someone else mentioned, you wanted to share adventures with someone, Ali is the one who *should* get all your attention. The episodes have been magical and sharing them with us has been more than generous, but knowing they take anything away from your experience isn't fair to you guys. The anticipation for more, in due time, will just grow & grow, as will our appreciation. Exponentially. I'm not overstating that. This series is very special, probably to more people than you realize. Thank you! #ThereAreNoCoincidences

Always say I love you before you go to bed at night! My husband and I were always told that and they we live by it. Even if we had a fight and aren’t thrilled with each other we make sure to say I love you and kiss goodnight and it kind of reminds you like this fight is probably stupid and we’re gonna love each other through it anyway. I was loving having two videos a week! Hahah but I totally know what you guys means about not living in the moment because you’re living through a lense! Agreed! Enjoy the time while you’re in it!

Your big adventure brings practical perspective to some of my 2 hour rides; yes, the ones with my bike friends where I'm aggravated, and annoyed because i'm going too fast or too slow, and my friends want to ride an alternate route to avoid cars....and they don't want me to stop to read plaques and historic signs, and take pictures of flowers and stone walls, blah, blah. blah. I know in a few hours, I'll be alone again, and not riding so, I'm going to shut up, suck it up , and continue to appreciate my bike time out. After all, it's not like I have to finish riding and then set up a tent in my living room and sleep next to them.......hang tough guys!!! You're doing great!

Thank you Ryan and Ali for this awesome bike trip across America. My wife and I, along with our kids and my mother-in-law plus a fellow Romanian-American friend of ours Nino, drove all the way from Portland OR to Fairfax, VA in the summer of 84. (Most people follow the proverbial advice "Go West, Young Man", but we chose to go East (I later started working for the Voice of America in D.C. Both my wife and I are now retired. Out 'kids' now have their own kids. What a great, welcoming country America is. Thank you, America! God Bless America! (We still miss Oregon, Kanita and all!)

You took the right decision! At first, I thought your honeymoon was over but at the end of your video, I realized that the magic and more important, the respect is there between you two. IMO, the most important thing is to enjoy your trip, being 100% present in all that you are experiencing together. As I once heard: Internet brings us closer to the people away from us but keeps us away from the people just beside us! The smile on Ali’s face tells a lot of the happiness to come for you two! Enjoy this wonderful trip!

So real! Thanks again for sharing your journey as a couple and on this adventure. I'm really happy to hear that you're going to focus on the present and living in the moment vs. being stressed out about editing. You've inspired me to get on my bike more and today, I did almost 50 miles, so thank you for your inspirational challenges and videos. One other note, I follow other KZbin adventure athletes hiking the PCT, CDT, etc. and many of them have friends/colleagues at home who do their editing for them. They only need to upload their footage when they get to a place with free WiFi. I know you are very talented in video editing and production, but I thought I would throw that out there so you can enjoy the rest of your trip, but still have some support in getting those videos posted. Be safe out there!

Sleep!!! Get more sleep. The stress is obvious in this video and I would bet fatigue is a bigger player then y’all know. I would guess y’all have obligations that are awaiting you but why push if you don’t have to? The second thing is if y’all are eating poorly it will have an effect on your moods. Recognize both of y’all are chiefs and not Indians. Ali might not be the experienced tourer that you are but she has chops. Both of y’all have big personalities and if y’all make it they will coalesce. I am rooting for you. It will get better. Hang on. Skip feeding us videos. I have really grown fond of both of y’all. You are good people. If y’all need to take a day apart take one. Not to contemplate your relationship but to be yourselves. Sacrifice your schedule or even this trip if it keeps you together. Don’t break because y’all bit off more then you can chew. Use airlines let her catch up with you in a week or last leg. Ryan you and I both know we get used to being spoiled with being alone at an older age. I was married for 25 years. Single now 6. Y’all put each other on the spot on video. Don’t do that. just focus on your interviews, the ride, the logistics. Please don’t put each other on the spot with tough questions with tough times. We could see you reliving arguments in your eyes. Your relationship is normal. The physical demands you are inflicting on your bodies isn’t. Hang in there y’all can make it!!!

Been married 48years. Your adventure and interactions sound like married life. You both sound tired. I know when I get annoyed at my spouse it's because I'm very tired and it's really not about her but it's about my inability to cope. Some times my wife says," I love you, but right now I don't really like you". And she's totally right because when these times occur I don't really like myself either. My motto is respect, respect, respect and you'll get thru all the tough spots. Am vicariously loving your adventure! At age 70 our time is long past, but we can still enjoy your journey. If your doing thru Central New York, our door is open and your welcome to stay as long as you like.

Thanks again for all of your guys' upbeat and fun to watch videos. We do a lot of bike touring, and we were floored by how frequently you have managed to get these videos out. I can't imagine how much work that is considering that your videos are expertly cut with the soundtracks and actually have quality content. Although I will miss the frequency of the videos, quality trumps quantity - and I suspect that you and Ali will have a greater quantity of quality time together if you're not making all these videos for us to enjoy! Your relationship with Ali is much more important than us strangers on the internet! I sure love what you do and get such a great feeling from the positive vibes you spread. If you overwork yourself on these videos, though, it will be more and more challenging to capture positive footage. Keep having fun THAT's what you're out there trying to accomplish. We will still be here when you get back. Promise! (does that count as love advice?). There are still some of your older videos that we can go back to for entertainment ;-) thanks again!

Ryan my friend enjoy your adventure and all the precious moments you have with your loved one. Editing videos does steal a lot of your time indeed. I love writing and sometimes editing one article for publishing steals a lot of my time. Don't stress too much about it , and surely right now it is too much doing 2 videos per week. I would suggest to do one every fortnight this way we your loyal audience will remain satisfied and you will have plenty more time to live this adventure you are having. All the best

That makes complete sense. Live in the moment, share videos later. Don't stress too much about miles, either! Also, even though Anthony said to always stay together...I actually think that if you're really needing alone time, riding with some distance between you is a smart move in my opinion. I'm always telling him to just go ahead and then wait for me. He always wants to stay together. It all depends on personality, though. And, as I know you know, ups and downs are normal. Having to adjust on the fly is normal. You guys are doing really well.

Nice sit down. I remember when our good friends talked my wife and I into buying a tandem they said it would either bring you closer together or cause you to want to kill each other. :-) You two are kinda like on a long tandem trip. Love the videos but I can see that to make them so well (you do) requires time away from all the cool stuff in each town etc., which is why you are doing this. As Ferris says, "Life moves pretty fast, you don't stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it." Don't miss it. Even if it's just sitting somewhere looking at the beauty this world has to offer next to Ali.

I have been following your love story and adventures across country. As a woman, I just have to say that Ryan you never once validated Ali’s feelings, looked her into her eyes or even touched her after she so openly shared how hurt she was. The subject was just dismissed and onto the next topic. Love advice...stop, slow down, really listen, be present and show her you care by validating her feelings.

With great respect for the trip you are making, I feel though that I should say that”hey, it’s only a bikeride, don’t take that too seriously!” Of much greater importance is your love and relationship! Hug your loved one, not the camera, the drone our your inner pressure of wanting to make more miles in less time! Der Weg ist das Ziel! Meaning the path you are traveling on is already the destination you are aiming for. Ryan, maybe you should quit shaving for a month and maybe you should come back to calming down and rewarding yourselfs after a long day on your bikes with a chilled six pack of beer. Enjoy this trip of a lifetime you two!

Wow! So much emotion! So much 'opening up' about yourselves! It has to be a good thing in the long run, though. I applaud your decision, Ryan, re editing and uploading the videos; I'm sure you do, too, Ali. Re nutrition, is it possible you could be having some low-sugar yoghurt, instead of ice cream? I eat a kilogram of it each week and if I were ever to be able to do some long-distance touring on the bike, I would probably double that intake. Also, something I've just 'discovered' - dates! Yumm! I live in a small country town (less than 3,000 pop.) but our local grocery store had these fantastically sweet dates that are from Pakistan (but "packaged in Australia") and they are just the sweetest fruit you will ever eat, I reckon. Bananas are great, too. Anyway, I hope to watch the rest of your tour, as you finish the videos but don't leave them for 40 years' time, when you're old and grey......

Ali, I grew up the single introvert in my family and I have two family terriers. Trust me, I feel ya on the personal space :) I try to take the dogs out to the woods and then on different days I'll go out just on my own to get some quiet time.

Great Vid guys, myself and Angie have been together for nearly 4yrs now, both love the outdoors and love cycling , but when I buy stuff , I have to buy it twice lol .. we've just recently bought Topeak kit for our fat bikes .. we have road bikes but Angie has had issues with her bike fit and still not right, so we are doing the C2C in the UK and we are doing lands end to John O Groats 990miles , we are normally ok on rides, but like you Ryan love to go fast, sometimes I get knarky with Angie because she's just pootling along, but we sort these issues out, but we are going to do 14 days of riding together doing lands end to John O Groats on our fat bikes, but with the love of our sport, and adventure plus we are not going stupidly fast, nice and steady doing 70miles each day and enjoying our journey of a life time... anyway guys I'm now following you on Instagram and look forward to seeing your adventures.. keep an eye out for us .. and all the best for 2019 👍😉🍺🍺🥂🍾

Oh yeah, focus on the adventure and your Ali. I would be more than content to wait until you've finished it to see videos from it. It's a once in a lifetime journey that most will not take. Don't let yourself miss the best parts because of KZbin or Social Media platform. You'll regret it if you do. Nonetheless, I look forward to your next video, whenever that may be. I wish you two the best; enjoy this adventure in the greatest way possible, with each other.

Love, Love, LOVE following your journey. But seriously, nothing is more important than being there in the moment with the woman you love. Don't hesitate to put editing videos on the back burner. We're fans and admirers. We'll be happier for you both if you prioritize this amazing journey ahead of us. Like Ali said, it's important to "show up". We'll do the same when the editing is done. Till then, ride on!

Creative Yep, you're experiencing what marriage is like. We can wait on the editing. Focus on her needs a little more. You have a good one on your hands, as she listens to you and doesn't try to over talk you. Rare qualities in women now a days!! Be blessrd.

It wasn't a "romantic" situation, but when two friends and I rode from Wyoming to Calgary, across the Rockies, and over to Vancouver as 15/14-year-olds, it was a major crash course in human relations. I think it's inevitable when you are working that hard and spending that much time with the same people/person that you'll have a few bumps. The amazing thing is learning how to deal with it.
