Yeah, I suppose that is one good thing that came from catching that nasty thing. Had to change the leader though. It nicked it pretty good. You'd think with a sore mouth that fish would take a break from eating for a while, but nope. I guess it wanted another hole in it's mouth. Must be one of them trendy type catfish. It sees all the younguns running around with all kinds of holes in their faces so it thought it needed some too.😂

Well, thank you for watching it. It's not much for excitment but we enjoyed ourselves. Those little dinky doos need love too I guess. haha! That gar...ugggg....I hate em! Nasty nasty critters. By 2am when we finally went back to the camp to eat, that 7lb blue fit the bill. I fixed it a new way I came up with for Russ and he loved it. It was too dark to film cooking it at the campsite. I'm thinking about maybe doing one from home just to share the recipe. It's unorthodox, but I like it.

Good to see you posting videos again! You and Russ had a fun time camping and fishing. That little catfish was greedy taking a bait with a 10/0 hook! Nice 7 pound blue catfish, it will make several good meals.

I'm almost ashamed to say we ate the whole thing. We were about starved by 2am. I couldn't get it cooked fast enough for Russ. He was finished before I even got to take a bite of mine.😂

We had a great supper! I wanted to film it, it's a dish I came up with myself, but it was just too dark at 2am to film a cooking segment. I may do one at home just to show the recipe. Some people might be interested if they eat a lot of catfish and get tired of fried fish all the time. It'd probably be great with any fish really though. The gar was nasty. They smell so terrible. Russ was about gagging. Those teeth are very dangerous too. I ended up having to tie on a new leader because he knicked it pretty bad. That's a good way to lose a big fish if you don't catch those nicks in the line. We've actually been a few times this summer. 2-3 anyway. We just haven't caught many fish nor any size to them since that trip in April when he caught that big one. I'm getting lazy I guess. Don't really want to spend the time editing a video for one little dink. I've even struggled to find the perch this year for bait. I guess not going often has it's drawbacks. It's hard to establish a pattern.

I can’t wait to get back and camp at Kerr!! Usually when I had out to VA I stay with my friends LGBASS and Michelle on Lake Gaston. I hate gar too!! Especially after getting a gar nose between my toes!! That ended my fishing and off to the ER I went!! UGH! Those buggers!

Hey Laura. Yeah, those things are nasty, and not just because of their teeth. They stink something awful too. It was a nice campsite and the people at the gate were very friendly and helpful. I'd accidently booked a double spot and when we came in with only one car they asked if it was just us and said they could switch us to a single and saved me $20.
