Sand Hollow Campground options
The park offers three main campgrounds: Westside, Sandpit, and Canyons. Each campground has a mix of standard sites with electrical hookups, as well as primitive sites for tent camping. Some sites have shade structures, picnic tables, and fire rings, and most offer access to restrooms and showers.
The Canyons Campground is the most popular and has the most amenities, including a dump station, group pavilion, and access to the park's water park.
Sandpit is dry camping, but super popular for those who want to be feet away from riding their ATVs on the red sand.
Reservations: Reservations are strongly recommended, especially during peak season (March through October). You can make reservations up to four months in advance through the state park website or by calling the reservation line.
Activities
Sand Hollow State Park is known for its recreational opportunities, including boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, and off-roading. The park has a large reservoir with sandy beaches and clear water, perfect for swimming, paddleboarding, or kayaking.
There are also miles of hiking trails that offer stunning views of the red rock landscape. Off-road vehicles are allowed in designated areas of the park, and there are several nearby trails for ATV and UTV enthusiasts.
Nearby attractions
The park is close to several other popular attractions, including Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, and the Grand Canyon. St. George, the closest city to the park, has several restaurants, shops, and cultural attractions to explore.
Weather
The climate in Sand Hollow State Park can be hot and dry, especially during the summer months. Temperatures can reach over 100 degrees Fahrenheit during the day, so it's important to come prepared with plenty of water, sunscreen, and appropriate clothing. Nights can be cooler, so bring warm layers for sleeping.
Overall, Sand Hollow State Park is a beautiful and fun destination for camping and outdoor recreation in Utah. With its stunning red rock landscapes, sandy beaches, and range of activities, it's no wonder why it's such a popular spot for visitors from near and far.

Welcome to the NEW & IMPROVED Sand Hollow State Park. The camping areas were modified and a third campground was added. We'll show that in this video.

I camped there in a tent. OMG scorpion city at night. Literally crawling all over at night. They woke us up. Yes. Scorpions that scratch the tent to get in. Big one. 😮

@@seemycampsite I’m not scared of anything. But god dam. A scorpion scratching and you can see the shadow from the moonlight. It was terrorizing. I’ll never camp there again. I’ have camped many places near by

I stayed at the upper campground last year and loved it--- very quiet up there and it was an easy walk over to the water / boat area. I am wondering about the new campground. Does is have closer beach access? -- I want to walk with a paddle board to the water. Though I can see all of the ATV tracks over there so it may be just too noisy for me. Thoughts guys?

Lakeview Campground does indeed have some sites that are close to the reservoir (see Site 8 for an example), although there can be some brush/vegetation that you might have to push through to get there. As Lakeview is close to Sandpit (where you will find a lot of ATVs), you could experience some noise depending on how busy things are that day (and what events might be occurring close by near Sand Mountain).

Can you do something on the activities more in depth? I have young atv riders. Is there beginner areas?

Great suggestion, friend. We will likely make a breakout video about the activities themselves in the future. There's sooooo much to do at these parks that our biggest challenge is keeping the videos at a digestible length 🤣

You’re right! We showed a little bit from our drone footage but we didn’t get into the details-we’ll try to remedy that in our next updated video.

We lived there. The only problem with that state park is that it had so many out-of-state people that it was virtually impossible for the locals to do anything. Videos like this don’t help.

That's awesome you lived near there. As Utah natives, we totally understand that perspective but also know the pain points of all people (locals included) not knowing campground dimensions and much about what is in their own backyards regarding recreational opportunities. Hence the reason we make videos like this. People are going to find Sand Hollow and these other parks, regardless. Social media has changed the world that way. We are trying to do our part to ensure that all people (locals and out-of-state'rs) have solid information before they travel so they don't add to the chaos.
