I was a child of the 50's & 60's, we did not have air conditioning at home. Slept with the windows open all summer, so the sound of cicadas brings back fond memories of childhood for me.

LOL, I grew up the same way my friend. One trick we learned was to take a box fan and actually put it in the window drawing in the air from outside. It really helped cool down the room.

For my sleeping setup, I typically have an air mattress in the back that I inflate to sleep on, nothing special really, but I'm currently trying out something new that I'll show everybody in an upcoming episode. I found it kind of odd of you to be complaining of the cicadas, when I'm camping I actually look forward to hearing them. I haven't gone camping yet this year, simply because I've been fighting this damned depression for the better part of the year, I'm starting to think maybe all I need is some wildlife therapy - a hike-in campsite away from civilization for a couple days or simply a day out on the lake fishing would probably help me more than my therapist.

Well my friend, in my area, The cicadas this season are so bad and so loud they drown out all the other sounds around you. To give you an idea, the best I can as to the noise level, Imagine turning on your vacuum in the morning and never turnong it off until you go to bed LOL. Speaking for myself, One of my main reasons for getting out and camping as often as I do is just so I can detach from everything And just slow things down a bit. It really does help me To get my mental focus back. Take care my friend!

Honestly. Why go thru the rigmarole of collecting kindling and all the fire starter, and purchasing fire wood? For the 2 hours you have this campfire lit may as well just throw a Duraflame log in to save on the campfire haste. Kinda like sleeping in your truck takes out the haste of setting up camp ⛺️

Well my friend for me building the campfire is just part of the experience I enjoy versus just setting a paper wrapped Duraflame log in the fire ring and lighting it. Personal preference I suppose. Take Care
