My family had an old tea kettle we heated water for tea and washing dishes, kept it in a brown paper bag . My Mom made check list that my sister and I would check off when we packed for a trip or week end. Cliff get some extra utensils and other supplies and keep in a box or tote so have everything you will need. I keep plastic ware , paper plates , paper towels . wipes and salt and pepper in my trunk.

I could hear crickets when you were doing smores. I was thinking how nice a hearty vegetable beef stew would be on the camp fire with toasted bread. Maybe some dried apple sprinkled with cinnamon could be reconstituted with a little water and topped with pancake batter to invent a campside apple dessert. Fall is definitely here. Beautiful foliage and cooler weather. Thank you for your videos!

Butter in the pan with the pancakes. It makes crispy delicious edges on the pancakes. A nice New York strip would taste good sizzling over the fire, with the pancakes. French Creek is a very scenic park. It looks even better when there is fresh snow on the ground. When I was very young my parents would drive to the park and we would watch them digging Hopewell Lake the lower lake. The old roads through the park are still there to just over grown a bit. Another great video WW.😎

The camp site was nice. I camped there once many years ago but it was in a group camping site. We were backpacking and the site only had three trees. We had to string all our tents in a line down the hill. It rained and the water ran through all the tents. One suggestion for cooking over the fire. Find some kindling and smaller fuel in the surrounding woods. Once this has burned down to coals, pull it to the side of the main fire with a wet stick. Cooking over the coals will give you more even heat.
@UrbCrafter3 жыл бұрын
Hey Teach, That pie iron you have there will make the best tasting pancakes you ever had but it takes a bit of practice. however once you master it you will never need a pan for great pancakes again, i always throw a bit of fruit or even bacon or sausage in with it, then use two of them to make a Canadian bacon and cheddar breakfast sandwich with them...

Nice job Cliff, You put all the grill ingredients on one side, makes it a lot easier and It really looked good! Isn't it nice to not always have to follow a time line? I had one of those portable butane stoves back in the sixties when I was mountain hiking. On a pack trip with the Sierra Club in the Mono Lake recesses of California, we were up at 9 to 10,000 feet or more and boiling water wasn't that hot because of the altitude, so we used freeze dried foods which required less heat. Thank you for sharing your adventures, it reminds me of trips many years ago:) Rik Spector

Enjoyed that Cliff, new lights, new foods, new heating (candle camp fire). I was looking forward to it, the candle, heating the cheese and bacon on rye sandwiches in the morning but you changed your mind. I suppose it could get really hot and was wondering how long it would take to cool B 4 you could pack it up in Naomi with the other gear, last I would think. I'm ready for the next welcome to PA from you. PS, the "real" coffee in tea bags is a good idea.

The lights remind me of a FLOOD vs STROBE BTW : Non-Stick coating; also, known as 'TEFLON coating,' breaks down under High Heat. Then it is imparted into the food, and causes cancer. Cast Iron is among the best surfaces to cook with.
@gigicostlow44143 жыл бұрын
Pancakes didn't look bad. Fire was too high is all. Non-stick pans don't work so good on a campfire, especially lightweight ones. I always use cast iron or heavy stainless for cooking on a fire. You need to use some kind of fat when cooking with cast iron or things will stick. I found cooking sprays don't work so well French toast is another good thing to cook on a campfire. You can use powdered eggs and powdered milk then you don't have to worry about keeping it cold. I have made pizza sandwiches using a sandwich griddle like yours. Spread some pizza sauce on 2 slices of bread (I used sourdough) then add some mozzarella and some pepperoni. Ruebens also work well. Those stuffed marshmallows make the best s'mores when using a microwave. You made me want to go camping. Thanks for taking us with you.

Suggestion: Why not merely get yourself the old style campfire percolator, place filter and your favorite coffee grinds in the basket for however many cups you want, fill up with 💦 to desired level, place on grill rack over campfire and let it perk away. (Remember to bring along a heavy duty potholder.) Works perfectly while reheating leftover coffee throughout the day. I’ve even used a regular pan, placed a filter with ground coffee in a wire mesh strainer, rested it on the pan rim, put lid on pot, allow to simmer for awhile; cowboy style method. ☕️ 😋
