Great video!! What modifications if any did you have to do on your A?? And what is the weight on your Teardrop?? I've got a '29 Fordor Standard, and would LOVE to do some camping like that.. in the Smokies Ga/NC
@modelajim1930
@modelajim1930 10 ай бұрын
@@michaelrepetto669 The only modification I have is a high compression head, 12 volts ( only because we travel away from home a lot) and turn signals. I have never weighed the trailer but if I had to guess I’d say about 800 lbs. I made weight a priority when I constructed it. Model A pulls it up hill fine, just don’t be in too much of a hurry going to the campground 😜

First time looking at a Model A...Can't take my eyes off it
@modelajim1930
@modelajim1930 3 ай бұрын
@@twagn I was 17 years old (1982) when I saw my first Model A. I had been wood cutting with my father all day. He had to stop on our way home to talk business with an old couple. While the men talked shop, the old lady said, let me show you my old car. We walked around her house and in the backyard was 1928 sport coupe, her mother was the original owner. I instantly fell in love with it. She wanted to sell it because they were both in their 90’s. I begged my father to help me buy it, but he was not into cars, and said, “why would you want an old car like that. It would breakdown every time you wanted to go somewhere.” Unfortunately,I didn’t get the 1928 sport coupe, but about 5 months later I was able to get a 1930 standard coupe. I still have the car today. (Needs restoration). Thank you for watching and commenting. Appreciate it very much. Jim & Lindy

I am astonished you were able to pull a teardrop behind your Model A. It only has what 40 hp? I have a 2012 Ford Transit Connect with a 2 L engine that develops 138 hp and I’ve never pulled any trailer behind it because it’s a gutless wonder to begin with!

Hello Jonathan. I do have a high compression head on it, giving it about 45 horsepower. It pulls just fine on level ground, hills….. well second gear is your best friend.🤪🤪 Thanks watching and your comment. Appreciate it very much. Jim & Lindy

@@jonathanhansen3709 Hello Jonathan, It pulls it, but we’re not setting any speed records, especially on any type of incline. Flat ground is fine. My focus is more about decelerating than accelerating. You need to anticipate your stops and start early. Every stoplight 🚦is going to turn red on you! 🤪

Hello Myron, Thank you so much for the compliment. I try to keep the cars looking nice, just because I’m passionate about them. Very happy you enjoy the videos, thank you so much for the support.

The August Complex of Aug. 2020 was larger, and that doesn't include 4 other fires that more than doubled the acreage.
@modelajim1930
@modelajim1930 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment, You’re correct that the August Complex fire had greater acreage (1,032,600) but is considered multiple fires that burned together. The Dixie fire is the largest “single fire” at 963,309 acres. Devastation all around, for sure, that will take decades to hide. Thanks for coming along for the ride. Greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for the comment Dean. Yes, we were surprised the Forest Service was closing the campground so early, I expected it to be open at least through the end of the month. Just need to get out sooner next year I guess. Lake is high in elevation so winter comes early.

Have you pulled the camper with your roadster? Would it pull better since its lighter? Enjoyed the footage 😊
@modelajim1930
@modelajim1930 Жыл бұрын
I have not installed a hitch on the roadster. The fact that the Fordor weighs more is a stabilization factor. Don’t want the trailer thinking it’s in charge of the direction of travel. 😝🤪 It pulls nicely with the Fordor.

@@modelajim1930 Any tips for someone looking to purchase a Model A?
@modelajim1930
@modelajim1930 11 ай бұрын
@@samuelmottweiler3833 Hello Samuel, At the present time there are a substantial number of very good cars for sale, as a large number of previous owners are aging out of the hobby. So the opportunity to purchase an already restored car in excellent condition has never been better. Purchasing a finished car allows you to immediate start enjoying the hobby. Now there is something special about restoring your own and it is a big part of the hobby (I’ve restored all mine) but at this time the cost vs buying a finished one makes it hard to justify. Decide what body style you love and go for it! See if a local club has any for sale, the membership can make sure you get a good deal, and probably someone is knowledgeable about the car. Best of luck. Jim
