The weight and storage are important factors to consider. I store my Shiftpod in a rooftop cargo box due to the length. The overhead press is a workout. Shiftpod III w/floor is 51 pounds. Shiftpod III with accessories is 68 pounds. When stored, I keep the floor in, use the cinch straps to wrap it up tight, then place it in the bag. I store the other accessories separately. Traversing the doors can be hazardous but similar to a hatch on a ship, one can learn how to transit them easily without self inflicted injury. Great review! Keep 'em comin'!

Good review. I’m going to get one. Cheaper than a rooftop tent and it won’t take up the entire topside of your roof rack. Sounds like it’s not terrible to haul around up there on a tie down.

All that said, this is one of the best reviews of the Shiftpod I have seen, doing a great job of covering both the positives and negatives of this tent.

You talked about these not being stealthy, I think that's the point. The people who buy these want to be seen. These would be great if you had them set up to rent out to travelers at your campground.

I agree, it’s a huge reflective beacon to be spotted by anyone. Which is the last thing I want during camping anywhere, private or public.

Great review, I've always thought they looked like a nice tent. I like all that room inside too. Will I get one? Maybe some day. ✌

Lots to like about this tent, but the reviews don't always tell the full story. While this guy DID mention the condensation, he did not really go into how bad it could get. One person and a dog can easily moisten the inside of most of the tent overnight, just from breathing. Add a non vented propane heater and it will be soaking wet and frozen in very cold weather. Even with the ventilation it gets really wet inside. I may end up going with a Propex Propane heater for winter camping. Another thing, you don't want to put the floor in with snow on the ground. It would be best to shovel out the footprint, then let the snow inside melt prior to installing floor, due to the condensation. Use the blast shield! It acts as shade for the tent, and allows ventilation between the shield and the tent, keeping it cooler on the inside. The blast shield also covers the windows, keeping rain out when the windows are open, but still allowing ventilation. The biggest problem I have with Shiftpod though, seems to be with the company, and not the tent. Getting them to respond to emails and get their website functional (talking specifically about the "Accessories" section) which they have been promising to have up and running about two months ago, and still is not running is a bit problematic for me. All in all, it is a pretty good and roomy tent, that two people could easily spend a week or two in quite comfortably, more people and their gear will fill it up fast. I would call it a 3 1/2 season tent. Better suited to hot, windy conditions, than winter, but doable year round in a pinch.

Hate that you’re having issues. I will have to say though you will have condensation issues no matter what with any exposed flamed propane heat sources. That’s just the nature of propane. I have not tested in very cold nor with exposed flame heat to be able to give any opinions. Thanks for watching

@@SirWilliamGoes Yeah, I was hoping those windows would deal with that moisture, not so much though. I knew about that condensation thing with propane, but it didn't seem all that bad in the pickup canopy with a little ventilation. I also tried the UCO candelier as a drying heat source, as it advertises putting out 500 BTU's. Maybe 50 at best. It worked great as a butt warmer when placed beneath my camp chair. 🤔🤥

I may have found the ideal, although expensive, solution for heating the Shiftpod. The Propex HS2800 heat exchanging propane heater. Have not actually tested it in freezing weather outside yet, as I have been dealing with a herniated disk and subsequent surgery, but I have it configured and used for 'alternative heat' inside the house in a chest configuration, with burnt gases exiting outside. Now that spring is here, it does not appear I will get a good test on it till next winter at the earliest.

I have been used the Siesta 4 tent for about 3 years and I never had condensation. One question for you: I bought the Siesta 4 because for many years I was looking for a tent system that let me camp in the desert an dont overheat in the inside. With the Siesta 4 I really solved the problem 100%, no wait, 1000% !!! I can set the tent under the sun direct for hours without any shadow from a surrounding tree, in the day, and I can sleep comfortably without feeling suffocated by the accumulated heat, because the Siesta 4 is more a standard tent in its design, it has a very nice big doors that you can open fully and let the air in. Now, for the Shiftpod, is this really the case ? I mean, can I put it under the sun for hours and it wont heat to the point that it will be uncomfortable to stay in during the day ? That's the main feature I'm looking. The problem I'm just seeing is that the Shifpod only has one door, it would be nice if it has at least two so the air can properly circulate. Regards

I’m comfortable in the shift pod in direct sun for hours. This is what it was designed for and what it’s primarily used for. So my answer would be yes.

The shiftpod has 2 doors. I bought the original shiftpod and can attest sitting it up in my driveway in the southern AZ desert summer heat it was definitely much cooler inside. I ended up returning it only because of the length. However, I am now looking at them again to get one again. The improvements have made it a little lighter. It is a much better tent for heat reduction & warmth than a gazelle.
