It turns out that the cold resistance of the sleeping bag, the way of dressing and eating to make the body generate heat are the most important! Taught us the skills of anti-cold survival ~ this light camping is great!

My vote is for van since it's new, love the 1500 and top-tent trucks but despite the 2-wheel should be a nice setup. Thanks for the content!

I think the RAM with one of those large dome hot tents from Norway that you have is the way to go tripping in February. That way you have a large hot tent, heating for all the benefits that it provides, multiple cooking and heating stoves to play with and can as a last resort if the weather gets very nasty you can use the RAM for your home and sleeping. I'm not sure how cold it gets in Nova Scotia but here in Central Canada we had -52C with wind chill last December and it was not very windy! That might be a bit much for tenting. Bring your down pants for sure...LoL.

Love your videos…the scenery and the way you make everything work is fantastic…..and the fact you bring Master Boomer with you and still makes sure he’s well taken care of. And love watching him run thru the snow…like he’s saying “I’m a big boy too”! You really do seem to have some of the best gear for different types of camping….do you design any of these? And do you have a suggestion for someone my age …71 this year….if I wanted to do a little camping with some friends? I do have fibromyalgia and arthritis pretty bad but not ready to give up life….and actually if I push myself some and exert some energy it actually helps some…most of the time. After watching your videos I just want to try it……there wouldn’t be snow….unfortunately…..just dry weather and fairly warm. Thanks!!

Really nice seeing the cold tent. A lot of us don’t have stoves, so cold camping connects to us pilgrims. So for the one week expedition… the van. You use the Ram a lot, the GMC with the rooftop is a bit tough for a week what with all the up and down in the cold and with heavy boots on. So, take a break and relax. Take the van. Boomer will love it! 😊

I’d vote for the van. I like the potential excitement of, not only the Newness, but the drama of perhaps getting the 2 Wheel Drive stuck and having to winch your way out! also you could lean more towards food prep and dining which I’m sure Boomshaka would just Love!

100% take the new van on your 7-day solo adventure. 2WD is more capable than a lot of people think. Also, while it’s already set-up when you arrive, you can add awnings and you have the outdoor kitchen, so it’s the best of both worlds. Plus it’d be nice to test its capabilities. See what its limitations are (aside from the obvious - 4WD-only tracks, etc.) Plus, as full-time vanlifers will tell you, the more time you spend in the van, the more you work out what works or doesn’t , what you might need to add to your van build, etc.

My family was camping at a family place way back in the woods which had a creek it was low this day, that night rain like cats and dogs, embankment to creek was about 12 to 15 feet, we woke up to a roaring sound was very very close, we got up from the storm, water was over the embankment what a night to remember! I just love watching your videos. They are so relaxing and such beautiful scenery. But the part I love the best is Boomer. He is absolutely adorable. I love watching him run and play in the snow. He makes me laugh when he is zooming past you as you set up camp. I was wondering what kind of collar he has on. Is it a GPS so he doesn't get lost? Or is it a bark collar to keep him quiet and not attract predators. It's obvious Boomer is well taken care of and I just love the relationship you both have.

I do a lot of road trips so on them I do try to use my wrangler more in a way how overlanders would. Sleeping in it adds a bit of "security" I find over a ground tent. If I was you on a 7day road trip Id be using your ram set up or van. Also for ease of everything. Just my 2 cents. With those options you could always set up a tent if needed and still have loads of place to carry your gear. Either way Im sure most of us are lookjng forward to following that trip with you. Being from NS orginally I recommend maybe going in mid to later March to catch that early spring that I miss shout Nova Scotia living.
