Campsite Review: Thorn Tree Bush Camp, Dinokeng Game Reserve (Gauteng)[South Africa Self Drive]

We visited Thorn Tree end October 2021. We were there for 4 days, mid week and it was great. We stayed on Kudu!!! Our only complaint was that it needed a litter sweep, little bits everywhere, like bread fastners. However, it looks like its been changed and cleaned up by your video. Your tent was where the fire pit was and there was a wooden palisade around it and in front of the fence. The worst thing was that a mouse lives there and ate through our new tent floor and ground sheet!!! Ideal distance from Pta. Will definitely return.

Sounds like they've made changes to the site. We were there before you but posted this video later than usual. Think we need to do an update. Pity about the mouse and your new gear. We now spray our car with Marder rat repellent after a friend had their wiring shredded in Tankwa Karoo.

We were there before they did upgrades, and we haven't yet been there again. Unfortunately I can't really say with confidence what the Rooihartbees stand is like now.

80 Series still very much with us! We used our faithful Nissan Livina for this trip. We used to use the Livina for all out trips before we got the Landcruiser. The Livina has done much of SA and Namibia.

Stayed there just after lockdown, and it was not that great, The owners were away, the staff did not really care, and the noise from the next-door caravan having a family fight until 2.00 in the morning was disgusting

I think Dinokeng is very hit and miss with noise. We've camped in a few places there and found that noise within the campsites is dependent on how the owners/staff manage the guests. It only takes one site's noise to spoil the atmosphere for all. Pity about the staff, we had a good experience with them when we were there.
