This led project is super cool, its giving me crazy ideas. Quick question. Is there a way to incorporate these leds into IFTTT? I was thinking like if you gaming with headphones on and someone rings your doorbell, it'll trigger one of the panels to a certain color. Another idea is like how back in the day cell phones would blink certain color lights or patterns to a text message or email. Lets say your significant other texts or calls you and another panel prompts a certain color and pattern to tell you its them. Maybe even incorporate certain panels for home automation noticifcations as well like if one of the doors is unlocked or opened and a panel shows red until its closes.

for scratchless table id say the cold lamination sheets that are used to protect tablets and laptops, i use these for office laptops around the wrist rest and the touchpad, cut it to size and stick it, super ez to work with. Being scratchless they sell pretty quickly in the used mkt It does start to yellow out in 1.5 yrs or so depending upon the UV light in the room luckily the rolls are pretty cheap if u buy in bulk The removal process does not leave any residue behind and yeah i just tried it with a mousepad it works ok prolly not what id use it for a game like apex, something like the transparent Project Arctica mouse pad would be cool, its a mixed control mousepad

Appreciate all the explanations and hearing your thought process! Looking forward to seeing the knobs and switches, which IMO will be the best part. I feel like you should use magneplanar speakers and a sub to match the futuristic feel of the desk?

Oh I can't wait for the Knobs and Switches! I'm trying to budget out the cost of matching CNC'd metal knobs for every device mounted and the ones I want are going to make me broke 😅 I've actually looked at a couple white speaker options, but at the same time I'm always trying to using things until they break, and I've had the Mackie MR5MKIII's for 10 years now and they're like family at this point haha. But the idea of magneplanar would be insane if I made the entire wall behind the desk a speaker! I'm not super familiar with what off the shelf products are around, are there some go to models you can recommend? As for subs, I actually built a custom tactile transducer mod for my chair with bass shakers to cover low frequencies, without the leak into the home or neighbours (very cool application) video here 👉 kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKataqWpfNB2aJY Thanks for watching Adam 😁

It's actually been going really well, couple marks when I've placed down metal objects. But most tech has rubber feet and doesn't leave a mark 🤙

HAHA 😅 I even noticed in my screen recordings from the very first time I launched the software I clicked opened that tab, saw they're "ticked" and closed it. Continued looking everywhere else for a setting. Such bad UI design

Yeah that’s not a trick, it’s incompetence. As a UX person, that checkbox design violates basic principles.

@@jribolla I've actually seen that before, years ago. I think the memory was in one of my yearly purges as I can no longer access the specifics.

FYI - I've got a few Nanoleaf strips and they do the same, fade to 0% and return to set brightness, interesting that your in-desk strips do the same thing!

Oh Damn, do you have a Razer Mouse too? I noticed when editing this video as I was paying more attention that whenever my mouse slept it did it, and the moment I moved it and it "waked" lights once again dimmed. Like Razer Synapse is "resetting" for the new device appearing. SOOOO ANNOYING :( But it also seems to do it completely randomly whilst I'm using my mouse too, so I can't figure it out. Might have to try and check if there's any logs to track down what's going on.

Plasticizer is your issue. It evaporates in sunlight faster than not. Meaning it makes your rubber degrade quicker!

It's called an OP1 from Teenage Engineering. When they released the latest model I scored a deal on a 2nd hand one 😍 My favourite thing to take on holidays and just vibe out making music, offline, no internet, so much fun 👍 P.s. a high five will suffice lol 😂 ✋

You should put a hole through the desk so you don't have that awkward keyboard cable wrapping around

Oh yeah I don't like it! But I plan to have a USB port plug in one of the interface panels, so the keyboard will have a short cable going in there 🤙

Glad I just saw this video! I have a pair of KRK speakers sitting under the Christmas tree and they were going to live on a pair of your stands. I had downloaded the OG design you linked a year or so ago, but was going to ask - A - Did you ever get around to re-designing the stand so the speaker tilted up slightly? If so can you share. B - Did you change from 90A TPU which you'd mentioned previously? Bit concerned that 2 stands have now failed... :| C - Pretty sick that Steve Angello commented on your vid!

There are some solid alternatives to make your mouse "invisible". I think something like that would absolutely be insane with your build.

@@camshand, well.... I'm tearing apart my desk and monitors because of you. Not going as intense with the build. Well, work laptop has two monitors, personal laptop has one extra monitor that has a switch to be used with my phone when needed. Home PC has six monitors. So damn you for making me realize my cable management was horrific. Call it even? :D

You know....SignalRGB can do everything this project needs AAANNNDDD is compatible with the Razer ARGB hub your using. ^_^ SignalRGB is also compatible with WLED and can control strips remotely!. I have SignalRBG controlling an ESP32 controller running WLED with an ARGB strip around the base of my bed. It makes it look like my bed is floating.
