Glad to see Ben staying active in the sport. Guy was unbelievable to watch ride

I remember seeing BT101 in Uddevalla, Sweden back in like 02-03 or something when he rode what is now MXGP. He had one of the biggest crashes i'd seen live at that time (i was like 10 or 11). Took him about 15 seconds to get back up and get on the bike again, i remember thinking "there's no way ANYONE rides away from that" but he did. Been a massive fan of Ben ever since!

@@Jukkzter yeah, back when dudes would wad their bike, get back up and race as hard as possible. Not that it’s unheard of now, but it’s not common. I guess I’m the thought is to fight another day, but I love to see a fight from the back more than anything. That’s why Tomac is so loved I think

Training with BT would be on my bucket list of MX achievements. What a great 1st track. Retro graphics are the nuts! Ben Townley and Josh Coppins are two of my favourite riders. Shame injuries took their toll on their careers. Ben and Tyler on the 125/250f KTM's in the MXGP's were the nuts. Never got to meet Ben but did meet Josh Coppins.

I also ride a 350. I've taken many private lessons with coach Jacqueline. And everything you're getting coached is literally the same things. And I'll tell you it helps tremendously. Even the beginning of the video where you're a bit on the tense side coming off the face of the jump. I had a similar problem. And when coach got me in the right position and I relaxed and let the bike do the work. The jump suddenly became stupid easy. Like I could literally roll up and just stay steady on throttle. With little to no effort. Right over. And she also told me I was one gear too low. I clicked into 4th. And it was cake bro. Getting coached is paramount if you want to progress. You don't realize how much you're doing wrong until someone points it out.

Love the technique stuff from an old C grader. I now ride an E MTB and your discussion about over braking, then fighting the bike and leaning too far to the outside of the corner.....I do alot of that on the E bike! So it's now made me a better and more relaxed rider as I have tried to eliminate those habits like you are. Thanks! Folks like you and me have to think about it, it's not natural, where a 'talented' rider just does it without thinking about it. Good stuff.

There is so much a rider can learn from watching someone ride and being shown what not to do. Because that way riders can identify with the rider and how they may be doing the same things wrong. We all feel like Chase Sexton sometimes but look like Ronnie Mac 🤣

Jase - Really nice video. Even before Ben instructed you - you were ripping pretty good. He was right about "You have to ride more" . . . . Four times a month does not cut it. Hopefully I will retire soon and ride two or three days a week. At 61 I learned how to ride all wrong in the 70's. I went to an MXAcademy class and I have been working on the attack position, jumping in the correct position etc ever since. Some things I have learned this summer. The one handed drill will help out with body positioning . . . big time. . . .. The "roll off" before the jump always left me conflicted, but it is indeed faster to charge and roll off than trying to time it with throttle . . . . . I am doing lots of turn practice these days. I cut a rut at my local riding area and it got that bump in ithe middle. Now I know why. Finally, I like the presentation on riding on the balls of your feet. I have been working on this for a few months now. The heels off the back of the pegs indeed DO tie into body position for the rest of the ergos . . . Great video. This struck a chord with me..Thanks.

Ben is such a good teacher...i still got to handed to Gypsy dedication...he goes to a 2 day motocross school just to save a friendship whatta guy...no serious that was too funny....funny only because he meant it...he has good riding posture like ben said just need to ride more....i when i was 14 years old rode 70 hours a week...when school was out 35 hours a week when school was in...if u work it way different..to find time do the maintenence get it in the truck get ur gear train off the bike just to do 2 days a week is tricky witj a full time job....a MX bike need its dedicated mechanic thats tje real trouble u dont just jump on it kick it an ride awsy like i did on my fourstroke honda XL 125... It was maitenence free just dump gas in it...i could ride it an keep up with an RM 125 2 S. But only cause i slept on it..jk

Steady throttle take off I call "entry level", then next level like Chase trained here, is charge hard approaching, and get off the gas at the ramp and roll - to avoid endo shift body weight to the rear when getting off the gas 👍 Next next level, add more speed and start soaking up the "pop" using softer foot pegs pressure for take off👍 Pro level add even more speed and add some carve and scrub to avoid over jumping 🤙 I really like how Ben talks about approaching corners "with more intent" ☝🏆🏁

Dont know if it just wasnt covered or BT explained it out of the vid but the reason for rolling the jump is for speed and making up time? You make up time by going faster on the ground. Not in the air. Especially if you cant scrub? If youre going faster on the approach(making up time) by not constantly adjusting(losing speed and time) you will have enough speed to clear the jump even by rolling the upramp. Cool vid though

@@Jordz711 it's so nice, I figured a 450 would be to much and if I got the 250 I'd still want the 350 so went that route and I just prefer the look of the Husky over the KTM Im not quite well off enough to invest in something quite that new so I've got a 17 so the first of the AER forks and traction control ones, done 80hrs but only 20 on this top end (24 now) but she was a third the price of a new one so I'm super happy for now. Do you lift weights brother? I know it sounds ridiculous to some mx riders but the deliberate pounding you put on the nervous system in terms of motion is crucial... Thoracic extension, Scapula Retraction and most importantly the Hip Hinge. Really got to train the posterior chain to work properly. Fire from the hips into the ground or in this case the foot pegs.
