Interesting but overlooked thing about the tisas guns is they have a titanium firing pin and steel internals, where most or some guns even more expensive has MIM or cast internals. Tisas seriously raised the bar on what a cheap 1911 should be.

I love your reviews on high end guns, but glad to see this review because as much as I like reviews of expensive guns, it's cool to see reviewers I respect, reviewing something attainable to me. I have a Tisas BR45 Commander that I purchased ($450.00) a couple of years ago, before they stopped using MIM parts. I also have 2 Springfields (Government Loaded CQB 45 ACP & EMP 4 Lightweight Champion 9mm). The Tisas will run with them all day long. Have not had a single gun related failure and it runs JHP (Speer Gold Dot) with no issues at all. I'm a retired Police Officer and I trust the Tisas enough that I EDC it in my rotation. For those looking to get into the world of 1911's without breaking the bank, this is the brand for you. Tisas makes a RAIDER version that's a clone of the Colt you revieded a while back, and I promise the Tisas will run circles around the Colt when it comes to fitment etc. Keep up the outstanding work, you guys are killing it.

I build 1911's, had a buddy dare me to try one out made by Tisas. I picked up a 4.25" Tank Commander in 9mm. What convinced me to do it was a forged frame, slide and RAMPED barrel for 445 bucks out the door from a local shop. I figured I could build it into a decent pistol if it turned out to be a POS, the frame, slide and barrel would cost the same as just a frame from Caspian. No need to rebuild it, it's fantastic, fed it everything I had in 9mm including my 124gr cast loads and it never missed a beat or malfunctioned. Slide was very tight and it is very accurate too, on par with my 5" Gold Cup and custom Super 38. Needless to say I was so impressed I went back and bought a 5" A2 Government Model for 470.00, same experience. The barrel was linked on this 45acp model but the trigger was great, very crisp break on both and again functioning was spot on. These pistols have to be the best bang for the buck anywhere and at the cost the Tank Commander it is now my truck gun, I also changed the grips otherwise they are stock. I'll bet I've sold a half dozen of various models for my buddies shop and all have been winners, I'm even using them for builds. I bought 2 G'ovt Models, added the usual accessories, checked fit and function and did a Cerakote job on one and did a satin nickel finish on the other. I had people lining up for them and at half the price of a standard Colt.

1. Extremely precise modern machinery. 2. Low cost labor. 3. Good work ethic. 4. Good Management. Add them all together and it's possible to produce a 1911 which is dimensionally correct with proper timing with minimal final machining and minimal hand fitting. Good management means they care enough to stay on top of QA to farther limit the number of issues end consumers have. It's only good business, the higher your failure rate the fewer sales you will make at a given price and the less profitable the enterprise in the long run.

So glad ya decided to try out something cheap for yourself. I have no investment into tisas or single stacks but many times in the Ak world I’ve been more impressed with better valued guns vs the internets heralded go to favorites. Value is key, how much do I get for my money.

I picked up the same 1911 in .45ACP for 329.00 for my birthday. I have had the pleasure of slinging a few rounds through the 1911 platform over the years and was curious. I am very pleasantly impressed with my Tisas. I did modify mine slightly. I beveled the ambi-safety for comfort, and added some G10 grips I had laying around. Besides that, mine is still stock. I may change out too a checkered mainspring I have, but I have not done that yet. I don't take it out very often, so I just haven't gotten to it yet. I have only taken it out for 5 or 6 range sessions and only about 800 rounds. That being said, I have had 0 issues. Most of my rounds were reloads or some old magtech I needed to get through. Magazines were a selection from ActMag, Mec-gar, old 80s-90s era Colt factory, Chip Mccormick, and Wilson Combat. 2 Things I am also watching: 1. The plunger spring assembly for the safety feels just a bit weak. 2. The trigger needs a little love. It is a bit too much play for my liking. The trigger break alone is not bad, but there is a little too much take-up and over-travel. Nothing a weekend and some time in the shop couldn't handle. Altogether though, I can recommend it so far. The Tisas was definitely worth what I paid. At 580, I become more hesitant. That is entering some steep competition around the 600 mark... Edited because I forgot to mention the caliber. Sorry guys.

My Tisas carry 4.25 in 45 had no issues with stock mags. It doesn't like the Wilson combat or chip mags I have. It does, however, like Mecgar mags. Mecgar made the original mags that came with earlier Tisas guns. Thing shoots, tight fit, well machined. Not really much to go wrong for a stock $500 1911

I have a Tisas D10, their 10mm option. Fantastic gun with all the bells and whistles, with front and back checkering, adjustable rear site, and a standard barrel bushing setup. I bought it for hunting and so far zero issues. Can’t beat them for the price. Bottom line is Tisas guns show you how much your overpaying for the high end custom 1911’s!

Knew a guy who owned a martial arts supply store. He had people bring him "authentic" Katanas that were smithed in Japan. He said while the craftsmanship was top notch, for a functional purpose the swords that were made with modern techniques, and machining were just as capable if not stronger. Not as pretty, not as prestigious, but functionally just as good. 1911s I'd say fall in the same category. Sure, the hand fit one has the highest quality parts, the top-of-the-line features, and with that the craftsman price tag. But modern machining is good enough to get you 90% there, it's just not as pretty, or prestigious.

I bought my first 1911 last year so I don’t have anything to compare it to but it is the TISAS Duty that is being reviewed. I absolutely love it. I thought my wife’s 1991 baby desert eagle first gen had an outstanding trigger but imo my TISAS 1911 tops it by a thin margin. I have also had zero malfunctions out of around 220 rounds not much as I work a lot of hours and try to squeeze some target shooting in here and there but so far it is amazing.

I've watched countless reviews on this company and their 1911 pistols. I've been trying to find just one video with a negative review. It makes me happy that i haven't found one yet. Most are like this one, where the reviewer would make little aesthetic changes here or there, but they have nothing bad to say about it straight out of the box. I have a .45 stainless duty, and i have no complaints. The only issues I've had have been with some cheap mags that I immediately weeded out of my hoard. Other than that, I've run somewhere around 500 rounds through it so far with no malfunctions caused by the gun itself.

When compared to Springfield & Kimber I would rather build up a Tisas any day. Was shocked when I tore it done and not a single part was MIM. My prodigy and emissary’s have mim parts in em. Stock for stock the Tisas also ran better. Tons of failures to feed on the springfields. None with the tisas. Idk guys lol.

I’ve been customizing and upgrading this brand for years. I’ll put my 1911’s up against any 1911 custom or otherwise. What sold me was viewing the Tisas manufacturing video available on KZbin. These guns are made of the best materials on the latest CNC equipment under surgical conditions. I often think that they’re being offered at this price point to make inroads. I believe this is due to the crummy history the Turkish government has. Bottom line this gun is so much better than so many other so-called name brands. All of my upgrades have been done by myself as a hobby and in each case with jaw dropping results. Everyone that owns one of these will totally agree, also aside from the boutique US made guns what is actually made here. The only thing that remained is the brand name.

I've had that exact gun for about 3 months, I got it from Palmetto for $419. All in shipping, tax and transfer was under $500. It has functioned flawlessly with approaching 500 rounds at this point. The only complaint I have is I tried to replace the factory sights with night sights, I got the front sight replaced but couldn't budge the rear sight. Sight pusher didn't do anything, hammer and punch didn't cause it to budge. I fear that to get that rear sight out will involve milling it out. Anyways even with that it is a great gun period, for its price it can't be beat.

I carried M1911A1s in the U.S. Army for 16 years. After 32 years, I bought a TISAS MODEL M1911A1 U.S. ARMY in 9×19mm. It came with nicely figured Turkish walnut double diamond grips and fully checkered plastic "GI" grips & two MecGar 9 round magazines. I bought three 10 round magazines for carry purposes, and it's like I was issued a brand-new GI-issue pistol (except for the caliber) instead of the 30+ year old 1911A1s I actually carried. I don't plan on doing anything to this pistol except carry it & shoot it...a lot. I feel like I've come home. I'm wearing it now in a Safariland 578 GLS "PRO-FIT" paddle holster that I just wish I had in "olden times."

Forged Frame, Forged Slide, forged barrel. So this could be a damn good base gun and building it out the way YOU want it to. I have done that with a few Colts and a Springfield. Although these are supposed to be good out of the box. A $500 1911 to get people into the hobby is great.

Good review I have a tisas 1911 in 9mm and it shoots good. I agree totally on reviewing for what it is. My dad has a Kimber 1911 in 9 mm stainless steel very heavy in grave even the grips to his liking. When I put them both on my hands one side the other in the other hand. You can tell a difference in craftsmanship between them both. But I only spend about 465 on my tisas and my dad spend a lot more on his Kimber custom.

I bought the Tisas Tanker in .45 to upgrade it and work on it on my own. Also a good beater gun like they say here and I would not care because my satisfaction boxes were already checked off most definetly more than once, over and I'd say. This was my first 1911 and I was impressed. It IS a cold commander clone after all and it was tighter and smoother than my cousin's Colt Commander 70s! First 200 rounds were flawsless, cold shots were lazer beams, where I aimed it went. I told my brother in law about it and he would give me a pitty nod and say oh cooll man. Felt like he was saying he slugger your gun matters. Then he saw it and he looked at my sister no words were spoken but we all knew he asked her if he could order one right then and there. He now has a Tisas Tanker in .45 😆

And, you can spend less than that with their Tanker. Upgrade the trigger, grip safety, guide rod, safety, hammer, springs, and have the same amount of money in it as you spent on that one. I bought a Tisas Raider in .45 last month and proceeded to customize to my needs. Magwell, new grips, new safety, and red dot. The sad part is machining the slide for a red dot and the RMR cost more than the pistol. It has become my favorite pistol to shoot running some minor loads through it.

I bought my tisas 1911A1 clone over 10 years ago, skeptical about a Turkish made 1911, and and still amazed, shocked, and proud of how well this is made and engineered. Hammer forged stainless steel barrel, forged frame and machined billet tool steel slide, extractor runs fine, trigger is way better than anything else in its class! I feel bad for people that bought Rock Island, over Johnson and Thompson instead. The epoxy finish is now worn off, and trigger was gunsmithed to 4 pounds, and 24 pound recoil spring for 45 Super +P now, and runs great! No jams, super accurate, and trigger is mind reading, shames striker fired modern designs. Buy one before the price hikes up!
