Bought a Tisas Tank Commander .45 a couple of months ago, finally took it to an indoor range. I put a laser bore sight round in the chamber to compare point of impact versus aim point, and made a note (aim slightly high and to the left). Shot silhouette targets at 7 yards, 25 rounds at each target. First 25 was to get a feel for the sights, recoil, check for malfunctions, etc. Had the errant stray round in the 9 ring, but most of the first group was in the 10 ring or X. Second group of 25 everything was in the X or 10 ring, no malfunctions. Right out of the box it fired well, hit what I was aiming at (more or less), and feel confident using this as a home defense weapon. Not practical as an EDC due to limited number of rounds in the mags, but well worth what I paid for it ($370 at Palmetto State Armory).
@t.k.morris10 ай бұрын
No insult or disrespect intended but I am really curious why so many people don't believe that 6 or 7 rounds is enough for self defense carry? If you really have to ever use one, one hit should be enough, and you will be in deep crap if you use more rounds for a real self defense need by the law. They already try to put you in prison for shooting someone once even when it is necessary.
@bronzestarvue10 ай бұрын
@@t.k.morris I used to conceal carry a compact .45, I think the mags held 7 rounds each, and I would carry two extra mags. The compact 9mm I carry now has a 13-round mag in it, and I carry two extra mags that hold 17 rounds each. I'd rather have the extra ammo and take a few extra shots, especially when under stress. Go to the range, fire 3 rounds in ten seconds. Do 20 jumping jacks or mountain climbers, your choice, then fire 3 rounds in 5 seconds at a different target. Compare the results, and you'll see my reasoning about switching from a 7-round .45 to a 13-round 9mm. My Tisas 1911 is not a compact, so I never considered it as a conceal carry.
@t.k.morris10 ай бұрын
@@bronzestarvue I totally agree with your philosophy, never been in that need before, hope I never do. I was just making assumptions from LEO investigations and defense attorneys actions. I have the Night Stalker in .45 ACP. I did not like the factory smooth black grips. Replacing them with G10 grips was a breeze, but the Tisas grip screws were too short for aftermarket grips and could not be reused. That is my ONLY gripe on an otherwise great pistol. The fit, finish, and reliability are excellent. I had 1 FTF early on using 230 grain ball, and it has run flawlessly ever since. At 15 yards it just blew a big hole in the 10 ring, despite my mediocre marksmanship. The front sight is nice and bright, and the lightening cuts look great too. They say it is a great pistol "for the money" but in reality it is just a great pistol period.

I wish the raider had front strap and MSH checkering. I'd buy one TUHDAY.

I have there Special Edition version. Only difference from the US Army version is the main spring and and housing are flat like the original M1911. I keep telling them they should go ahead and do the M1911 since they already have those two parts done. I want the US Army version because I have a 1943 Rand from a passed away uncle.

I like that Night Stalker, but i'd rather see it with G10 grips. The aluminum looks slick.

Not a 1911 guy, but that Night Raider does look pretty rad.

You can get a basic bitch “Stakeout” model for like 400 bucks, update the slide stop and get a +1lb recoil spring and it will run. I heard some of the firing pin blocks are prone to crack, but if you work the hammer spring (empty gun of course) it probably wont crack.

@@macriggland6526Bad firing pin retainers aren't the biggest deal breaker. Rather easy to replace with a quality unit from Wilson Combat or elsewhere.

I'd be leery. I saw a NIB Army 1911a1 .45 model, 2021. It was total 💩. Poorly made, poor fit-finish. Broke 2x prior to cleaning.

I have two Tisas 1911's and are built as good or better than any of my other 1911's including Colt, Ruger and Springfield...Tisas is punching above their price point for now anyway

I don’t trust this Tisas guy. Don’t be buying 1911s from a dude who doesn’t clip his nails

I get the Raider is a clone but not having front strap checkering while duty enhanced does. Odd..
@fastbullet73019 ай бұрын
Gee, I wonder if that's why they call it "Enhanced"? What's odd about it?

I dunno...for their upper-end $$ offerings I think I would tend to go with Springfield, maybe kimber as well. I have heard good things about the GI model..just dunno about the rest.

The two-toned Aviator 1911 should have had a beavertail. As usual, really good 1911 pistols (and a very good review, too!).

A "very good interview"? Then why didn't he call the Aviator hammer a "Commander" hammer instead of improperly calling it a "Spur"? This entire interview was half ass amatuer hour crap..

Like I said above, Opinions are like assholes- everybody has at least one. The thing about opinions is, few people can articulate a reason for theirs. I'm not going to try to tell you how to spend your money, but I also don't give a shit about your preference. I doubt I'm alone in that regard.
