Yeah but even then that challenger still looks bad man. Even tho the mustang didn’t pull away he would have and he was bad off the line. What makes it worse is that the dodge car is cammed vs a stick 5.0 10 speed. If the 5.0 had the same cam specs as the challenger and the results was the same then i could give dodge some of the cake. But stock for stock they are just getting smacked left and right bro.

@@Mafia_640Nah challenger weighs more and has 4 less gears… pretty impressive for that challenger. Nobody puts bigger cams in the 5.0s they just lock the phasers out, the stock cams make better power.

Thanks! A couple negatives to consider with a cam would be way worse gas mileage and not nearly as smooth idle, slow driving around town. The pluses are the amazing idle sound, great gains in power and huge midrange/top end pull.

Just found ur channel..love the videos and content..I have a 13 challenger 6speed..shorty headers..hot cam..mid muffler delete..and cold air..and I hurt scat packs and mustang feelings.. Love your video on the comparison of rt and scat.. I love how much power I make..but going more in future.. But so love the insurance rates on rt compared to scat..

Excellent! Sounds like you’ve got a great build going! Honestly it’s extremely satisfying beating a 392 car at the track. Because it’s a great power benchmark but also there’s always that one group of Scatpack owners telling you you’re wasting your money upgrading a 5.7.

@@TrackPackRT mines a 2013 rt plus blacktop edition in the Crystal graphite metallic..black leather.. My favorite thing is dropping from 6th to 3rd on interstate at 65..and slamming 4th..and folks freak out with how hard it pulls.. I did a ton of research before buying mine..I wanted a RT 6speed..to cool of a car not to enjoy a manual..I had to have mine shipped from Seattle to Florida.. because rt 6speed are so rare..plus I wanted a pre 15 for the ease of tunning and I love the old skool white face gauges way better.. Plus since mine is a forever car.. figured analog gauges would be wiser then a computer in 20 years..

Great runs brother! This just goes to show its a drivers race and boils down to reaction time. Cars are fairly close even with an even reaction time. Difference is comparing a “race” vs how fast the car really is.

For sure man, but I’m running at 2300 feet above sea level unfortunately, with much worse DA on top of that so my times are never that great, except every now and then when I can sneak away to Vancouver and try to get some times at sea level. I don’t think most understand driving a manual car well against a lightning fast shifting automatic takes a good skill set as you have demonstrated. Great job ripping those gears. 👍

That’s a very complicated question and it depends on what your plan is for the car what type of driving or racing you do, is it a daily driver? Is it a race car? Lots of variables to that question. I really love my HRT Stage 2 kit from comp because it gave me lots of power without killing my low end off the line.

At my elevation yep. Actually ran 12s at my elevation of the DA is really good. When I’ve gone to other tracks around sea level I definitely go deeper into the 12s.

@@abransanchez7176 thanks man, I’m really happy with my build so far! We don’t have E85 in western Canada, right now I’m tuned for 94 octane. I’ve considered throwing on a 392 intake but I also want to keep my options open as I might replace it with something a little more whiny. 😉

The Mustang would have performed better with a more experienced driver. I've raced quite a few 5.0 Mustangs with the 10 speed transmission. At a track that has a DA of 1,000 or less, the Mustang will typically run 12.0s or 12.1s at about 118 mph. The DA is always lousy at this track and it was around 3,000. The 5.0 Mustang with the 10 speed transmission at 3,000 ft DA should be running12.3s and low 12.4s at about 115 with good traction. With lousy traction the Mustang should be running 12.6s and 12.7s at about 112. What made the races competitive says more about the skill level of the 2 drivers rather than the performance level of the 2 cars. The Mustang has 3 main advantages over the R/T. The first is horsepower. Even though the R/T is cammed and has long tubes, the Mustang has about a 30 horsepower advantage. The Mustang has about a 350 pound weight advantage. The Challenger should weigh about 4,100 pounds give or take. The Mustang should weigh 3,700 to 3,800 pounds depending on how it is equipped. Finally, there is the transmission. The 10 speed automatic keeps the car in the power band better and can out shift any 3 pedal driver. The Mustang should be 6 or 7 tenths of a second faster than the R/T in the quarter mile.

I definitely out drove him, but I respectfully disagree about some of the other points you listed. For him to have a 30 hp advantage they would have to be making about 510 at the crank. That’s just not the case. My last dyno was only 28hp to the rear wheels less than they make at the crank. It’s absolutely lighter, but there’s no way it’s hitting 12.3s at my track unless it has some decent mods done to it. If that’s the case all the Scats would be running 12.3-12.2 range stock and they’re not close to that here.
