It's pretty funny that you intentionally create disadvantageous situations for yourself and blame the game for bad design. Stop rushing, be more tactful and methodical, adapt. Maybe take a shield and a simple sword, an axe, to be more free in maneuvers. Come up with something. There are 1001 ways to kill any boss in DS1 without problems, but you are stuck in your approach. Read the descriptions of items in the game (not guides), to understand a little more. Don't complain, adapt. This is not a bad design. This is a balanced design for this particular game. Accept the rules of THIS game. and figure out what you can do in this situation, experiment, study. in a word GIDGUD. And don't give up ) just draw conclusions with a cool head, without irritation. Your complaints don't paint you well and won't help you. The first Dark Souls is a game that can be completed if you just be attentive and thoughtful. you don't even have to be skilled.

Look up a vid on how humanity works. Its something you really need to understand. You are fat rolling which is limiting your movement. There is no sprinting while being locked on to an enemy. Then you are agro'ing a bunch of enemies and getting cornered by them. Funnel the enemies into the doorway upstairs. But remember that that long weapon will hit the walls when you attack horizontally. There is no L2 ash of war spam that will get you through this game. Unless you learn to parry of course. And learn from your mistakes and stop blaming the game for your repeatedly poor decision making.

@@balance4724 You can do it. Just remember that this is a slower paced game. You should learn the move-set of even the weakest enemies in this game. The enemies in this game aren't just trash mobs like they are in ER. Kite enemies away from groups until you take them down. Then when you take them down do some exploring. You missed a good bit in Undead Burg. Some times its best to sit in an area and farm for some levels. And remember that health and stamina should be a priority for early game. Don't mess with strength and dex unless its for minimal weapon requirements.

I love seeing people trying a new Fromsoft game, just remember to have patience especially with ds1. Its the oldest of them all besides Demons Souls so its gonna feel clunky and stiff at first. here's some purely gameplay tips in case you are wanting to do a blind playthrough : You can only roll in four directions while locked on, left right forward and back, but while unlocked you can roll any direction and sprint so is about learning what works situationally. Also coming from Elden Ring you need to break the habit of running past enemies, this game has alot of tight spaces and until you get a better idea of enemy placement and map layout its in your best interest to kill them one group at a time. also using a shield especially in early game will help you out a ton as well as learning to parry and backstab. Humanity is used to kindle bonfires giving you 10 total estus after resting at a bonefire you already kindled, if you are hollow (beef jerky man) use one humanity to turn back to human and one more to kindle only that one bonfire. one last thing you can slide down ladders by holding B loved the vid and hope you play more, don't you dare go hollow!

If it’s any consolation, I played bloodborne and DS3 before DS1 and it took me a while to get used to the movement. You’re also “mid” rolling which is horrible. Lose some weight and fast roll, you will find it A LOT easier.

This was a fun watch. I love seeing people who've never played some of the classics before try their hand at the old puzzles. I personally feel that it is best to describe Dark Souls as a puzzle game disguised as an Action RPG. Dark Souls rewards patience and memorizing enemy attacks. If you have trouble, definitely use the Undead Burg as extended practice compared to the Asylum. Enemy damage is still low and you can take the game as slow as you need to in order to get used to the controls. Things only get more challenging from there. Also, while you're locked on, you can only dodge in four directions. A lot of dark souls vets tend to get really good at combat where you don't lock on since it gives you the most movement available. but make sure to practice both ways.

a couple of tips: - don't lock on in the game so you can have more control over your rolls (game le old so it doesn't have omnidirectional rolling when locked on) - try using a lighter weapon so you don't have to be as precise for when you decide to attack since dark souls is way more punishing than elden ring when it comes to mis-judging attack windows (at least when using heavy weapons) - summon solaire for the gargoyle fight (its only fair since it makes it a 2v2 and im pretty sure its intended kinda like the godskin duo) despite what a lot of people say dark souls can genuinely be harder than elden ring if you don't know/use builds that can break the game, its fair for the most part though

Dodging/jumping an attack and it hitting you does double dmg which applies to enemies as well. The game only has four directions you can move from and not eight like other souls games which is why the movement “sucks” and locking on makes it more sucky but as a new player you tend to lock on more to get the hang of things. Blow for blow too you can’t chain attacks like a dex weapon would in elden ring

Bad arena, some weird hitbox, they can fly, and nothing to this point has ever taught you (or suggested) not using lock on... And yes, the playable character is kind of garbage. Probably the most important thing you’re missing is the power of a shield. DS1 is heavily designed around shield play. It’s certainly possible to go without it, but not easy. At ALL. Especially with heavy weapons/weight load. The lighter your character load, the faster you can move/dodge AND you get more i-frames. Overall, dark souls is a very slow game. Every move you make is very slow and you must be deliberate with every action. Unfortunately it’s the only from soft game I know thus far, but straight up dodging every attack is generally impossible unless you’re one on one, which is WAY different from most action games.

Elden Ring: Spam-dodge, heavy swords = Cotton woll impact and so on... DARK Souls: wrong Button Press = near death/death, heavy swords = heavy ass impact Thats why i hate elden Ring and Love DARK Souls!

level wise? yes. Bosses give you much many more occasions to roll back after getting hit. In elden ring you get caught unprepared in some endless combo and you're done. Only Gael in his final phases has that unforgiving chains of attacks. Maybe not a coincidence I think Gael is basically a preview of Elden Ring. Ok maybe even 3d stage Friede. But ds 1 becomes hard only in the dlc and by hard I mean you have to actually learn the move set and not just roll last second improvising

You can’t blame the game for your mistakes bro. It’s you. This isn’t Elden ring you can’t be reckless like you’re trying to be, you gotta be precise, have better timing and proceed with caution. Good video tho.

i don't understand why so many people are being mean in the comments, i hope you guys know discouraging someone who comes new to darksouls by writing shit like "skill issue" makes you a terrible person and a shame to the soulsborn community. disgusting. As for Balance: you got this.

@@balance4724 Just change "ugh fromsoft didnt know how to make games back then" to "oh i didnt expect that" or you could compare the encounter to something in elden ring and how its evolved and etc. Be positive and thoughtful in your criticism, it definitely will land better with people. Just my two cents after watching a few similar videos lately(like Sid's).

That's coz DS1 rewards patience while you do the complete opposite and just keeps running around and thinks it'll be a breeze coz you finished ER 😂 didn't gave the time to get to know the game. You're in a different neighborhood now bro 😂

@@balance4724not really hard, game much slower than other souls, but you need to be more patient and go through locations step by step.

@balance4724 Ive read some of the comments since and see youve been taking tips. My comment was rather harsh so let me tell you what I think you couldve done better instead of simply hating. 1: dont rush past everything. I think someone who played elden ring should get trough the game with relative ease, but you cannot just rush past all the enemies 2: you cant do a lot of attacks in a row, especially with such a big weapon. Take it slow. Youre doing a lot of damage. Getting one hit in at a time, you could probably beat the gargoyles in less than 5 minutes. You got too much of that elden ring aggressive stagger greed style gameplay (which works really well in ER, not so much in DS. Especially since theres no standardized stagger system like in ER). Or for the gargoyles, pop some souls, grind some hollows (honestly a run or two of the 3 hollow before Andre the blacksmith should suffice), buy some titanite from Andre and upgrade your Zwei to +5. You will literally 2-shot the gargs. 3: you already read this, but definetly bind jump to L3. Bloodborne is the only FromSoft game that you cant do this in to this date. 4: Use shields for an even easier time (though kinda boring and Im thinking you wont really need them) 5: like all from games, read item descriptions, listen closely to what npcs say to get a rough idea of what your goal is Honestly someone who beat ER should have no trouble with DS if they slow down.

This is a very slow game so you need to be methodical and patient you can't rush, movement takes time to learn and dodging with positioning can help you alot and like elden ring you can explore and and level up for later challenges
@balance47245 күн бұрын
Cool thanks for the information :)

@balance4724 np, try learning how to dodge some attacks without rolling (doesn't work on all attacks) and also when learning how to beat a boss try to survive for as long as possible before incorperating attacks. Hope this strategy works
