Thank you for spreading awareness about this! I have seen some fantastic pittbull SDs and therapy dogs. My general experience is that they are usually so so sweet and sensitive, just with a bad reputation

Yes, we can be Service Dogs. The ADA does *not* restrict on breed, the only things it does not say but the DOJ doesn't allow are wolf and coyote hybrids.

I am actually in the process of self training my pit bull to be an emotional support dog and for anxiety and panic disorder as well. Im just getting this process started and your videos is full of information. Thank You.

Please research the difference between a service dog, therapy dog and emotional support dog. You also need to research the ADA laws if you live in america. Service dogs and emotional support dogs are different. An emotional support animal is NOT allowed in public, they are only allowed in housing and pet friendly places. Service dogs are trained medical equipment and they are allowed almost everywhere. You can not take them inside of a laboratory, a kitchen of a restaurant, a surgery room and some other places because of safety and hygienic reasons. Also, service dogs do NOT need to be registered or certified. Buying an "ID" is fake and it is a scam. They are not required to have that under the ADA, and a lot of people bring their untrained pets in public with "ID cards" and show them to the workers, then they will think all service dogs will need an "ID" which makes it harder for those with actual service dogs. They do not need an ID, registration, certification, prescription, a harness that says "service dog" or any type of identifying gear, it is not required by the ADA. However, I do recommend buying a harness that says "service dog" on it, it will help a bit so people don't think you are bringing a pet in public. The best place to get harnesses is through Etsy and Instagram. There is also a brand called "Onetigris" and I have three of their harnesses, some of them have pockets which is great!

ummmm....ESA don't require any training ... and what you're describing is a "Psychiatric Service Dog". Only Service Dogs have Public Access Permission. ESAs do not.

I lost my service dog three years ago. Yes she was a blue nose pitbull and sharpei mix. The best dog ever.

Pit bull is short for american pit bull terrier - it is one single breed Any short coated muscle headed dog is labeled pit by people who cant see the difference is part why their attack numbers are so high Ive seen the ban pits forums posting cane corsos, a blue lacy, amstaffs, and scott type american bulldogs as pitbulls ranting how they should be illegal As for why theyre not best for service dogs - They are prone to dog aggression from their history as gaurd and fight dogs with various animals i.e bulls, boar, other dogs - They dont always give as obvious a warning before snapping meaning they arent great for people who dont reeeeally understand dog body language - mostly a problem with new owner trainers missing signs of a dog unfit as service dog - i.e wagging tail does not mean dog is happy - Too high energy and strong for many disabled people - Access issues as you said - Hard to find a good fit and need lot more socialization than more common breeds - Banned in many countries - You arrive with a "pit like dog" in the wrong country regardless of breed its listed/registered as and it will be confiscated even if service trained and potentially euthanised

I am currently training my pitbull! She is amazing and such a cuddle bug which I'm now using as an opportunity for deep pressure therapy. She comes onto my lap and it soothes me, it helps my anxiety. Do you have a video or recommend a good word to use to train for deep pressure (tissue) therapy. Thank you in advance!

Also, I got a pitbull puppy specifically because I know they have a bad reputation. I've never had any issue with pitties and I've worked in the vet field, I've had nothing but great experiences with them so I decided to get a pittie. She has such a good temperament! Very eager to please and training is going smoothly

With my service dog I use the word "pressure". The easiest way to train them is to teach them how to follow a treat, and teach them how to target or touch your hand. Sit down on a chair, call them over, use a yummy treat to lure them over, then put the treat closer to you so they will have to put their paws on you, then give them lots of treats, verbal praise and physical praise! You can also use the lure to get them to lay down and do DPT on you if you are on the floor or in bed.

There is only one real American Pitbull Terrier the bully breeds have adopted the name Pitbull but they're not pitbulls they have Mastiff blood or French bulldog blood they are not American pitbull terriers.

Quite a few American Bully and Am. Staff on this video. American Pit Bull Terrier is absolutely a breed. So is the Am. Bully, Am. Staff. PLEASE STOP MISLABELING BREEDS.
