@@marcowashere1615 there is no analysis going on. I love mantises and I've kept a lot of them. They have a set of hunting moves they always use and act depending of the size of the object. You can easily trick them with fake "insects" : a small piece of paper that you agitate in front of them will do the job. They don't look for a "best spot", they will simply start eating whatever is in front of them after grabbing a prey and follow the exact same eating procedure every time. What makes you think they are "smart" is that those hunting moves and eating procedures look elegant and refined, but I can assure you they're entirely programmed and do not result from any kind of thinking. A Mantis is not smarter than an ant or a bee by any means. Actually, ants and bees seem to be able to react to more stimulis (pheromones based especially) so I would rate them actually higher in terms of IQ. If that means anything for such small brains
