Finally got a beta key, this is the most fun I've had with an RTS since playing sc1 as a child.

Still waiting for mine. Glad to hear it. Looking forward to a similar experience😊

I'm really liking the combination of slightly higher TTK than SC2, and unit production being so fast you can get continuous reinforcements across the map. It takes good control to either keep the fights from getting messy or to flourish in the chaos. I just hope we get to see more back-and-forth without the game snowballing out of control as people get better at the game. It did happen a couple times in this set.
@martinkrauser40296 ай бұрын
It didn't really snowball. We just saw a steep skill difference. Gemini got outplayed most every step of the way.
@TomFranklinX6 ай бұрын
Games like this are inherently very snowbally, the only defender's advantage is the short reinforcement distance. The solution might be to just make the games so short that it wouldn't matter.

Appreciate the content. This game looks awesome. I would much rather watch these matches without the twitch chat on screen though.

I personally like to see what the general feeling is amongst the community during these matches. Sometimes someone in chat will have something intelligent to add.

I hope the game nails the balance because mirror matchups in this game are not particularly interesting.

The lack of economic management makes this unappealing to me. They could at least let you choose where to expand, whether you prioritise units vs workers (rather than having flat worker bunch per base) and whether to prioritise red resources or blue.
@---oy2oy6 ай бұрын
I fully agree, but I have to say that choosing when (or whether) to expand or tech feels surprisingly impactful in a match. I really notice if I expand and my opponent doesn’t-the next couple minutes leave me feeling underpowered against the opponent’s unit count until my investment kicks in. It’s nowhere near as complex as a traditional RTS, but I went in expecting literally 0 macro decision making and was pleasantly surprised to find that the one choice you do get to make feels meaningful and interesting, at least initially.
@vivsavagex6 ай бұрын
somewhat agree. it still looks very fun to me but a) it doesnt seem like you could play this for more than an hour long session without getting bored af and b) it is very dull to spectate. like watching someone play an arcade game
@D3adCl0wn6 ай бұрын
The philosophy of the game is to focus on the MEAT of RTS games, the action. Yet you still want it to go out of it's design. That's like asking for gold leaf and artisan sauce for your cheeseburger.
@vivsavagex6 ай бұрын
@@D3adCl0wn economic management and base building are the two main things that make something an RTS though...almost every genre of game has this so called "meat" which is just controlling your guy in every single other genre of game...and the micro/battle management does not have nearly as much weight when you didnt have to build plan and execute, build your economy, and produce units...not hating, im super pumped on the game im glad for a paradigm switch but i do see his point of view that it is barely an RTS. doesnt mean its not all the better for it though. but if you were looking for an RTS experience this probably aint it
@D3adCl0wn6 ай бұрын
@@vivsavagex No way you haven't played a base building, economy management game that is not an RTS. Those two are a staple in the genre but they are not the rule. FPS games mostly have YOU move around but RAIL shooters you don't, BOTH are still FPS games.
@Chaogod12336 ай бұрын
What sucks is that you can't scout out what they are gonna build since there isn't other buildings. Game is neat but man they dumbed down RTS a lot more than I thought they would. There is so many elements stripped away. Its more like an arena game than a RTS
@martinkrauser40296 ай бұрын
They can only build what they tech into. There are two upgrade paths, and the game tells you when they start the tech and when they finish it. This tells you what's coming same as scouting.
@TomFranklinX6 ай бұрын
MUBA, Multi-unit battle arena.
@Chaogod12336 ай бұрын
@@martinkrauser4029 But that requires SO much less work on your part. The game does so much for you.
@jenbak26 ай бұрын
Yeah there are no suprise tech switches to help comeback or secure a win with. SC2 still has more depth and nuances. Battle Aces still looking really good and it is fun, although taxing to play.
@D3adCl0wn6 ай бұрын
@@Chaogod1233 This game's gameplay is what I skip right in to when I watch RTS games, the action. Also, there's already a lot of established base building games in the RTS genre. Would we really want another RTS game like what Stormgate is trying to do? At least Battle Aces fills that niche of casual, pick-up and play RTS (finally).
@baigpigpig6 ай бұрын
this is what stormgate could have been if they took any risks at all, instead of cloning sc2
@vivsavagex6 ай бұрын
i agree that stormgate could take some more risks but i dont think its that helpful comparing them as battle aces is going for a radically different thing. battle aces seems like it could almost be played in an arcade. its barely an RTS, honestly. stormgate is doing basically what i think they set out to in blending sc2 with wc3...i still have a good amount of faith stormgate can pull it off by launch as it could still be quite far off...if you havent played it yet i would encourage you to hold judgement until you do. i was very negative on it before i played and was pleasantly surprised it controls very nicely and was quite fun. but i do agree that basically making different versions of the starcraft races is a little lame.
@D3adCl0wn6 ай бұрын
@@vivsavagex I'd argue that unit micro is what defines the RTS genre, which is what this game focuses on.
@vivsavagex6 ай бұрын
@@D3adCl0wn sure you could make that argument. But you would be wrong. We have similar genres where micro is the focus, theyre called MOBAS
@D3adCl0wn6 ай бұрын
@@vivsavagex MOBAS are a type of RTS games. You really think RTS is just base building wargames? Those defined it, but it's not the rule.
